Great news! Now....my question: I know why you installed the NEMA 15-40 outlet but how come you bought that charger when you'll be getting one with your new Tesla? We knew we would get the charger with the car so we just had the outlet installed and when we got the car, we were able to charge it. Did you want two chargers? I am sure there is a reason you did this but I don't know what it is. (GREAT JOB, BTW!!!)
That's the High Power Wall Connector HPWC it is hard wired and can go as high as a 100 AMP circuit. A lot of people just keep the UMC that comes with the vehicle in the car.

The first reason was to get the faster charge rate which jumps the charge rate from 32 to 48 amps a 33% increase for my short lay over between runs between 3 different locations. Not a big deal.

I’ve been driving the volt for 5 years now running from charger to charger outlet with it’s umc level 2 charger. I guess I got tired of dragging it out and plugging it in all the time. Lately I just leave the factory one at home plugged in and charge at the lower rate over night and use the other one on the run

I just want to come home and plug in and not worry about dragging it out and putting it back in the car. Of course I’m now going from 40 miles to 275:)

If your not having to worry about charging in the wild just plug yours in and leave it there

Folks I want to make two more replies but have to deal with all of this storm damage. My porch door got ripped off the hinges and we got trees down everywhere .......... what do you call a tropical storm nor Easter+ ,with no rain? We got all the winds but no rain here in Va and it wasn’t from Capitol Hill.

OMG................WHAT in the WORLD? How does someone do that? How can that happen and happen before it ships....they could've fixed it while still at the factory IF it happened at the factory. Otherwise, WHEN did that happen, who did it??? That ticks me off so bad. After all this time and now THIS? I would be so pissed. I just cannot believe this. If they send you a picture, please post it so we can see too. Let us know what you're going to do etc. I just can't believe this. I am so sorry, after all this time and now this...........grrrrrrrrrrr :mad::mad::mad:

I know it pissed me off more than it should... And then I got the picture, as much as it suck to have a scratch on the leather of your brand new factory ordered 125k car (here in canada with taxes etc) one must realize that the vehicle is traveling through all of North America and many incompetent fools will be handling your vehicle. So I will be picking up my brand new factory order with a scratch tomorrow and that sucks, I do hope that Im over thinking this, as tesla not only offered to fix it with a leather repair guy, but also ordered a brand new replacement part, which is a good thing. Still doesnt change the fact that it will be delivered with a scratch. Attached is a picture, let me know what you think...

Hey! Well, I am going to preface my response regarding the scratch with this: I am not minimizing this, please do not think I am because there IS no minimalization when it comes to a brand new Tesla! I do have to say that it's not as bad as I was thinking it might be, thankfully!!! BUT, oh yes, that definitely would make me a crazy person BUT if they can repair or replace to make it perfect, I could live with that. I truly could.... and I am sure it wasn't easy to find out about this but I am in agreement with you to take it and be sure they make it right. Get your car! They can make that go away. (They had better make it go away! and I know they will.) Get your car!!!:D

Oh yes, that makes sense! I like the faster charging aspect of that!!! You have done your "time." Now it's time to upgrade in all respects and you most certainly are! I am so excited for you and happy that you've completed that task. I cannot imagine how difficult it was to do all that running wire thru the finished basement ceiling, not to mention everything else you had to do. Wow. That's all behind you now! So, now all you have to do is wait on that awesome car! By the way, I having the Opti-Coat Pro Plus removed from my front bumper, hood and rockers next Monday. XPEL will be put on after the technician (who will be coming to my home!) buffs off the Opti-Coat Pro Plus so the XPEL will stick and then the other technician will put the Opti-Coat Pro Plus back on <sigh> Another $1500 for the application of the XPEL on those areas and I am I'll to pay for the re-application of the Opti-Coat Pro Plus after that but hey.......after a rock chip ALREADY (before I drove 28 miles home) was just a terrible thing to experience and I know there'll be more if I don't do this so I am going to do it.
As for that wind in DC yesterday, I know it was really something else! I am a watcher of the DC Eagles in the Arboretum and that Poplar tree was swaying but their nest is over a ton so it's pretty secure but I know it was pretty bad. I cannot imagine living there. Exciting!
BTW, I have to drive to Memphis (225 miles from here) tomorrow because my 91 yo mother is having a minor surgical procedure where she will have to be anesthesized and I need to be there, alongside my younger sister and older brother who both live in the Memphis area, so pray that I don't pick up any additional rock chips on my first road trip. I haven't tried EAP yet, not sure I want to, kinda scared to do it by myself even though I know it'll make me a safer driver. Anyway, I will be online but gotta get this trip behind me.:(

Awesome! I read about that but didn't want to invest an additional $500 plus the extra expense for the more expensive wire because I truly know I don't need that but I do like the idea of faster charging! This car is turning into a wildly expensive ride but hey.....you only live once and this, I don't care what ANYONE says is better than any other car out there. I wouldn't HAVE another Benz, Lexus or for that matter I wouldn't want a Lamborghini or Maserati...those just aren't me and to me, no where CLOSE to a beautiful Model S Tesla....No Porsche, no Bentley, no Bugatti....NONE OF THEM! (Not that I could afford them but just sayin') I see those around town and they just don't impress me but Tesla? OH YES. There just isn't another car that matches up when you compare everything. I know I am partial but nope. I love my TESLA!!!!!! :D

So I have been following this thread for a bit and I finally went and test drove a MS. Loved the car and put down the money and am waiting for it. Where on the Tesla page do you see the updates on the car such as “in production” or “finished production”.
Thanks and I am anxiously awaiting joining the Tesla family.

In your account, at the top of the page you should see a picture of your car and it's VIN, and a Manage button. Click that. Should show you updates

Thanks for the response. I get this under the car:

“You will be contacted by a Tesla delivery specialist to arrange for payment and delivery of your Model S.”

So I was told it was to be built last week. So maybe soon.

That should mean your car is very much ready for delivery. Mine is in transport and tentatively for delivery on Thursday and I haven't seen that status. If you haven't heard from your delivery specialist you should very soon.

Also, I am 99% sure that the delivery specialist is the one who changes the status...after mine called me on Thursday mine changed about an hour later.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! That is WONDERFUL news! Congratulations! I am very excited for you, you are going to just LOVE this car!!!! I sure love mine! Get ready for the most fun car you will EVER drive!

So, pretty cool day today.

The website had update last Friday 2/23 that my car had gone into production. I hadn't heard anything from my DS, but I figured I wouldn't check until the car was done with production.

My DS gave me a call today (3/1) and said that the car had just finished production, and would be delivered and ready for pick up around March 19th. That was his original estimate, and I was pretty excited.

My DS called back 2 hours later and told me that my car had actually made it onto a truck today and might be here by Wednesday. Super excited! Only downside is that I'm scheduled to be on call all weekend from Friday through Sunday al the way to Monday morning, so I don't know when I'll be able to pick it up! I'll have to find a way...

Thanks to everyone for keeping me up to date on their deliveries, which have helped me understand how this whole process goes!

The waiting is, indeed, the hardest part.
Enjoy - 118,000 miles later and I’m loving every drive.
