I don’t disagree that others should have it. I’m all about choice and I agree that Tesla shouldn‘t be making this decision for people. I think the car should have multiple levels of regen so people can adjust it however they feel most comfortable. In the case that you mentioned, with your wife driving it occasionally, it definitely makes sense.
I just don’t think it is a necessary feature for someone that drives the car daily, because once you learn how to modulate the accelerator properly it provides a lot of added benefit. Most people learn to love the regen after a few days and when they go back to an ICE that doesn’t slow down without the brake pedal it is quite startling. The regen provides a sense of control that I feel like I lose when I switch back to an ICE vehicle. Anyways, I have a 2020 Y that has or had two levels of regen and the 2021 Y only has one level. For me personally, I don’t miss not having the lower option.
