Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I was a Feb 2 order date (Plaid, Black/Black/CF/21) and at time had June, July and August and blank dates. On June 19th I got a call from California that if I switched from CF to Ebony, I would get my car in "a few weeks". After that I was blank for a few days then "July". Late last week I got "July 15-19" and freaked because I was going to be away. Then it went to July 11-17 and I got a VIN!!!. Today I got a call to set up an actual delivery date and it actually shows up on my order page. It says "6pm July 15th Princeton" and so far the VIN has NOT disappeared!!! lol.

So this looks like its happening. Now I want to learn a little bit about these ceramic coatings Im hearing about? How about Ceramic tint???? Im in NJ and they have tint laws. Can someone direct me to the right place to learn about these products and what is an average price etc??

Thanks

Trifecta

Where are you in NJ? I used a place in Metuchen where I lived. precision detailing. They were terrific for a wash, detail and coatings. Nice guys ( JD and Ken) and easy to work with. They installed the escort CI for my last two cars Sl550 and AMG- gts and also put on front ppf for
Me. I wish they were out here. Full front was a little
Over 2,000 bucks. But that was in 2015. Job were perfect.

A little off topic but when I have asked questions in other sections they have responded as if I had last years model.

So I did not order FSD. What exactly does BASIC AUTOPILOT OFFER ME? The manual doesn’t seem to differentiate the basic from FSD.

Autopilot

  • Traffic-Aware Cruise Control: Matches the speed of your car to that of the surrounding traffic
  • Autosteer: Assists in steering within a clearly marked lane, and uses traffic-aware cruise control

Full Self-Driving Capability

  • Navigate on Autopilot (Beta): Actively guides your car from a highway’s on-ramp to off-ramp, including suggesting lane changes, navigating interchanges, automatically engaging the turn signal and taking the correct exit
  • Auto Lane Change: Assists in moving to an adjacent lane on the highway when Autosteer is engaged
  • Autopark: Helps automatically parallel or perpendicular park your car, with a single touch
  • Summon: Moves your car in and out of a tight space using the mobile app or key
  • Smart Summon: Your car will navigate more complex environments and parking spaces, maneuvering around objects as necessary to come find you in a parking lot.
  • Traffic and Stop Sign Control (Beta): Identifies stop signs and traffic lights and automatically slows your car to a stop on approach, with your active supervision
  • Upcoming:
    • Autosteer on city streets

Thank you

I remember seeing the upcoming on city streets last year. It said “COMING LATER THIS YEAR”

Hey all. Just joined the fun. Blue Plaid, black with carbon fiber. Before placing the order it said September, but in my account it says July.

What is this madness?
Welcome. Where delivery dates are like throwing darts drunk.

Reminder: your car cannot drive you home. Yet. Two weeks. Maybe. Definitely not though.

I literally pulled up the Tesla website just now and had to close the homepage before I checked my account status, which we all know is still "July." Nice to see at least a couple new VINs in the thread, hoping to one day join you ❤️

This may be the first car that I'm considering reading the manual. :D

Any thoughts on how to get the gear selectors below the charge pad to enable? I got it to come on a couple of times, but it doesn't seem to be a consistent method or I just don't remember the specifics.
Fasten seatbelt, quickly press/release both thumb wheels and they’ll light up

I just joined the forum hoping to get an answer and insight from other customers in understanding the entire order process. It's like a black box, not having a clue as to when your car will be delivered. When I ordered back in early May, my Tesla rep said likely June and so did the account page. Then the estimated delivery date disappeared and towards the end of the quarter, it came back saying June. It's now gone again and unknown. My Tesla rep is completely useless and also non-responsive. I even emailed the general distribution list for Tesla reps in San Francisco and no response after three emails and 2 business days. There's a lack of customer service and the concept of logistics. In the beginning, when my Tesla rep actually seemed to care he was urging me to get my paperwork ready as it can come any moment and I only have 3 days to get everything done once my car arrives. I was originally planning to trade in my current car and he was rushing me to get it sold without even knowing when exactly the car will arrive. I guess this is the effect of a commissionless sales model where they are not incentivized to sell you a car. The car sells itself and they can just spend the day doing who knows what. I love their cars, the online hassle-free sales, but HATE the customer service and leaving customers in the dark.

Model S Plaid, Deep Blue, 21" arachnid, white/carbon interior.

So for all I know I won't get my car till October, because of some magic formula of how Tesla calculates priority. I ordered In April, but without a VIN, I couldn't complete the insurance process. I finally put in bogus insurance info, but that wasn't till the till end of May. Then because of a lack of 19" wheels, I changed my order to Arachnids, which then flagged my order date to the end of June. I specifically asked if this change would affect my RN#. The SA said no. Even though he knew full well it WOULD change my order date, he did not offer up this information.

This whole process has been riddled with mistakes from a lack of information, and as far as I know, Tesla considers me an and of June order. Good thing I have no one in the company who could sort this out for me...
Are you sure the insurance info is needed to get a delivery date? The page says proof of insurance is required to “take” delivery, not arrange delivery.

Yeah, that would make sense, but it doesn't work that way. I tried touching the buttons in/out of Park, in F, in R. Nothing.

Maybe it is supposed to work like you say and it is just flaky. The Hazard button always works though.

I saw a video that showed the person single or double taping both scroll knobs at the same time on the steering wheel and the gear selectors lit up and became functional.

So, another data point for the group. The website shows August delivery for a Plaid with 19s. I bit the bullet and added a Plaid order with 19s to my 1/27/21 LR order with 19s that hasn’t had an EDD since mid-May. When I uploaded DL and insurance, it shows a July delivery date, not August. Oh well whatever comes first. As if there is any question what’s coming first.
