Wiki Model S Delivery Update

My delivery is next week. Is it crazy that I am contemplating canceling my order because the car doesn’t have front or rear cross traffic detection? This is an option on BMW’s, Lexus and Mercedes now. This is going to be my daily driver and the main reason I ordered the car is because of the safety.
I'm betting it will not be the reason you keep it :)

I called Tesla

"All new Model S go through inspections that take 2-3 days.", they told me.

That implies my car is here Thursday-ish. I asked about them moving me to a Saturday night delivery and they said they'll get back to me through text today because they couldn't reach the team in charge of this. I told them I'd take delivery of a dirty car but they were very adamant about this inspection. Now I'm debating when to call back without looking like an annoying customer!
90 minutes, no text so far.

Not sure if this inspection is company wide or unique to my delivery center in Scottsdale. I'm also not sure if I should appreciate it (How cool, they're making sure the cars look good before delivery!!) or be worried (What's wrong that they're checking every car?) about this. 😅

My previous vehicle was a Lexus and had this feature. No joke I didn’t even realize it until you just said something. If anything, that thing would screw me up sometimes & detect movement on a feeder road instead... it might have helped me here and there but mainly a false sense of security. The Tesla cam has a wide enough perspective to see anyway. I personally wouldn’t forego the safest, most advanced panty dropping ass machine in existence just bc it doesn’t solve an issue that’s not really there to begin with

I think my main concern was with front side collision. Say you are at a stop light and some drunk driver blows through a red. Merc, BMW and Lexus will stop the car so you don’t get hit as you pull into the intersection. I think Tesla will only do this on autopilot.

I would call before they close today. Maybe an hour or so. That is close to "end of day" without seeming like you are hounding them.

With the MS Plaid, I see a lot of drivers launching it from a red light. This may be a very dangerous thing to do since you run the risk of getting t-boned by some jerkoff running a red light going in the other direction. Quite often, I wait a sec or two when the light turns green; you can still do this with the MS Plaid and completely destroy any car off the line anyway, so why not give them the jump? It's safer. 🤔

Passed a fellow red Model S on the way to work this morning. His car saw mine, and the look on its face was like 😦
I can't get over how sexy the refresh S is. It looks incredible just sitting in the parking lot next to my office. The 21's just complete the look and add to the intimidation factor IMHO.

It is not just Plaid. I normally end up multiple car lengths ahead of anyone else leaving a light with me by the time I am up to speed. It has been that way since my very first P85.

I just realized the risk and adopted my bike mentality where I think everyone is out to get me. I'll head first out into the intersection but you can bet my head is on a swivel when I do.

But did you look at the note on page 25?

I don't know why they would call out just a power inverter. I would think anything plugged in to it would need to support 16V DC.
Perhaps they've had issues specific to inverters that have caused some pain, and want to emphasize the issue w/r/t inverters?

Just to shut up the Escort, does someone make an adapter that regulates the 12V socket to really be 12V?

Make sure Elon pays you royalty when they use your comment for their new slogan.

Favor to ask the group - can someone please post a picture of the PPF strip on the rear quarter panel / wheel arch that comes from the factory?

I'm still contemplating whether to hold off for 10 days till I go out of town or to go in right away but get it back with just a few days till I leave it... and the back quarter panel is where I'm most concerned, so seeing the coverage on a picture would be very helpful! alternatively may go with the suggestion of track wrap!

I recall someone had posted a picture a while ago, but for the life of me I can't find it...

Thanks in advance!
