Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I don’t have any advice for you per se, but I thought I’d just share a thought. My 2019 MS “Raven” Performance had a blemish in the paint beneath the clear coat which my SA pointed out proactively when I took delivery and told me to take it into a particular local body shop that would repair it and send the bill to Tesla. The body shop was excellent. They did a great job and got it back to me within 2 days. Anyway, my point is that if you could get them to cover the cost of going to a local shop where someone will take the time to not just push out a unit from Fremont but actually give the car some local love, you may end up with a better car. Obviously, this only applies if it’s alignment and cosmetics, not the actual guts of the car. Just a thought.
Totally agree. More extreme issue with our X and local Tesla certified body shop was awesome.

After 10 long months I finally took delivery of my car last night, 2 days before my scheduled delivery date.

I was told last week that my car should arrive on Monday and be ready for delivery on Wednesday. Being paranoid of shipping delays I went up to the service center at 5pm Monday to ask in person if the car has indeed arrive. They confirmed it was on the premises. Like any self respecting reservation holder I immediately searched the parking lot for my car and found it in pristine condition on the side of the building. It was about 50% through installing 2021.40.6. I immediately checked Tesla Software Update Release Notes - Latest Tesla Updates and was happy to see that’s the latest version available.

I proceeded to linger for about 15 minutes walking around the car, taking pictures. Just as I had gotten back in my car and was preparing to leave a Tesla employee walked out to check the car. I immediately hopped out of my car and started a quick convo about the car and that I was awaiting delivery on Wednesday but I was hoping to get it sooner, like tomorrow if possible. He said he’d go inside and talk to a deliver specialist with more info.

Ten minutes later he returns and said they were preparing my paper work and I could pick it up tonight. My jaw would have hit the pavement if I wasn’t grinning so widely. An hour later I was driving home with my car.

After waiting 10 months and being delayed 8 months from the expected April delivery, getting it 2 days early was a nice gift.

It was dark by the time I took delivery, but I have a few pictures from before delivery when I was stalking the car.
@Sigma4Life Congrats! Doesn't look like @Tigers abomination! Enjoy!

Configurator now showing Dual Motor and Tri Motor… no mention of plaid… and no EDD offered.
I still see S Plaid under "S" when you go to the site, and the configurator still shows the S and Plaid. However, it is possible I'm looking at a cached version, or maybe what you described didn't propagate through all their servers yet.
if that is correct, and not a glitch, that is interesting - that maybe they'll drop the Plaid name now, until the former Plaid + comes out, or whatever. or maybe there will be a different name if 4680 cells, or other variants, come out.

Looks to me like it might be a repaint too. The bulging paint thickness at the door edges can be a clue. Do you have access to a paint thickness gauge?

No but I might get one now lol!

@Sigma4Life congrats buddy!

FYI - I just officially declined my order and got back in line. It was pretty painful but I want to at least have a chance to see another one and make sure that they aren't pushing something on me. That really isn't right. This is the most expensive car I will have ever had purchased and honestly it probably would have been the car with the worst quality which doesn't seem like that makes sense to me.

I really enjoyed the car when I drove it yesterday so I'm hoping the next one. They've had an opportunity to make things a little better. The interior is a new design and clearly there are some things that may or may not be optimal yet. But overall I'm glad I got to test drive it and really happy that I enjoyed the yoke and the new screens. Still fingers crossed and hopeful thati get to join the club in a few months

everyone gets one free rejection, is my understanding
True.
FYI:
I have also rejected my '20 MS (pre-refresh) once awaiting word on the Refresh. I kept pricing (except for the $8k uptick upon Refresh being released) so, I figure I'm up already $17K on this car. Mind you, the MS never had VIN assigned when I rejected.
My '21 order for the MY, I've actually had a VIN assigned twice, & also rejected twice so far and kept the old prices locked in (saving me $8K so far). The MY is the 5th best selling car in CA (#1 auto market in USA)!
Their older sales contracts were actually one place where they put the customer first.

Phew just checked the site also and Plaid is still there! The MS LR name has been removed for some weeks now. Hence my use of MS DM now.

Thanks @Tigers. I hope you get a pristine car with a 2022 VIN ASAP!

My EDD has been December 10-31 today it went to December 13-27. So from 3 weeks down to 2 is that a good sign?
That's a great sign, I'd love to see the same movement on mine. When you get a 2 week window I believe you'd be soft matched with a car that'd be going into production and VIN assigned once it's finished. What was your RN and config?
