Thanks again Bonnie
which doors are you referring to? I sense you are speaking about the falcon doors? I am relatively sure the front doors stop when they get to their destination or when they feel resistance.

If we are talking about Falcon doors, how far away from said object do they stop? My experience is that if they are going to stop, its going to be a good nine inches from obstruction. Once my falcon wings were within 6 inches of hitting an overhead pipe/conduit, its hard to have faith that they are going to detect that pipe. Same with tree branches.

My very well attended reception was in Burbank, room was big enough, so it didn't feel crowded, but it seemed very odd. Sort of like when I picked up the first iPhone and they they had all the employees lined up and clapping for you.

I have spoken to authoritative people at Tesla.

I have also, as various forum members who have been present when I've done so, have stood next to the door and pressed open. The door stopped before hitting me. I have pressed open and then moved my hand over over the direction of travel. The door stopped before hitting my hand. I have stood just outside the acceptable area and the door has worked it's way around me. Never once has the door touched me. I have put my hand in the door jamb and pressed close and the door did not close on my hand.

So forget what people have told me. I've tried it. So I don't understand your comments about what *might* happen.

Now if my doors were behaving as you have experienced (having to pry open, etc.), I'd have my vehicle over at the service center pronto. What have the service guys said?

(And where the heck did you take delivery that they jammed 20 employees into the room??)

Your statement could be interpreted as meaning that you bought the first iPhone sold to the public. I assume that is not what you mean?

I am receiving my X soon 350ish non sig... I will tell you this... When I talked to my friend (I met him when I bought my S and we stayed it touch) who runs one of the branches of Tesla and ask him should I pay the extra money and get the sig X he told me not to. He said they tend to have lots of issues and are in the service center often (He was basing this on the early S sig models) and I would be better off to be one of the first non sig. He also said if you want one of the first cars that is the price you pay... Anyway, I ended up holding off back then for that reason. With that said, when you buy a sig or even one of the first cars Tesla takes care of you even more. They know you will be setting the tone for reputation and they want you to be overly happy... Regardless of any issue believe me they will bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. That is my experience being one of the early adapters of the S. Everything is going to be fine. If the doors hit the ceiling in your garage they will send it to the body shop and get it fixed like new again... If ANY damage happens they are going to take care of it. Trust me they will. The future of the company depends on it. I have experienced this time and time again... Have not paid a dime to fix my car in three years of driving. That is my experience. Have a great new year people! Looking forward to getting that X!

Observed at the SLC store today. 2 Xs in the yard with a dusting of snow on them. A white Model S sitting in the "delivery room"
I'm not sure we got any Xs delivered here in 2015. Anyone know? Would be nice if we could be counted for at least one or two.

Happy New Year to All!

I'm just excitedly waiting to hear that YOU have gotten YOURS.

I went by today and there weren't any Model Xs in the parking lot. I guess they've gone out for delivery?

Went to the Scottsdale SC a couple days ago and the guy up front said no sig Model X's yet. He said they were hoping for one any day now. Was my first time to that service center and you can't see anything from the front. Maybe I should have asked for a tour! I imagine that this particular SC is smaller than most of the ones in CA where these pics are coming from. Anyone been to this SC recently and hear any different?

There were two brand new Model S with partial wrapping still on them out front. A 70D and a P90D in titanium metallic. Pretty sweet looking.

I was just at the Portland show room. Two pieces of information. One unsurprising (they have not the slightest idea when they will get a Model X for test drives). But the other was quite unexpected. According to the store manager, the first Model X Signature delivery in Portland happened this weekend!

Have there been any other deliveries except Sig #1/2 ?

So do we rename this thread if it continues today(east coast)/tomorrow(west coast) or do we lock it now that/once it is 2016 (for everybody)?

I want to make it clear that I'm not claiming anything, but I do want to remind everyone that there are currently 27.9 million shares of Tesla currently being shorted, the most in over 2 years. There's currently a lot of money from doubters banking on Tesla's share price to go down, and the biggest catalyst coming up aside from Q4 delivery numbers (those will be released in a few days) is the ramp and reception of the Model X.

I think you'd have to be a little naive to think that some big pocket shorts haven't found ways to make intelligent attempts to cause a little fear, uncertainty, and doubt on TMC.

Not going to totally disagree with you. The X is a great ride in many ways, I certainly prefer it (though my comp is an early model S) and is way more functional for many of those who can garage it. There's some kinks to be worked out (your car is already back with tesla and I sense mine will be soon). The fact that there's no way you could let a valet take it is a serious problem if you think about the demographics. I also am fairly unsure about what this sonar in the falcon wings will detect (tree branches are not obviously detectable, yet something you need to avoid). I can forgive alot of these things for now but they do create anxiety which takes alot away from the experience. I am quite sure most people need things to be simpler and more fault tolerant. (what happens if the passenger hits "door close" on the FWD when its already closed. In an elevator its fine, with the X it appears to be nothing good, though I don't want to repeat that experience).
I don't know if it was mentioned to you at delivery but "don't open both doors on the same side since the doors could collide as they are opening" is something that shouldn't have made it into production since each door is powered and software controllable.

Sorry no pics for anyone, just the wrong time for me to be trying to juggle taking a new car. (I understand that doesn't get much sympathy on TMC)
I still think its a hard recommend as-is unless its to a person willing to be pretty patient. Maybe another couple of delivery and the first firmware upgrade alleviates 85% of the problems. The good news is that the the negative surprises seem to have calmed down and we're mostly figuring out how not to break/scratch these doors.

What I find incredulous is that, when warned that doors can collide, you were not curious to find out how is that possible.

I hope you've reported that employee to Tesla HQ since it sounds like he/she needs training.

Well, delivery specialists do give out incorrect information from time to time. My DS, at the Fremont factory no less, when asked about where the second row cup holders were, said "there aren't any second row cup holders". Well, it took my son five seconds in the second row to find them :)

Took delivery of #291 yesterday in LA. It is an impressive ride. First electric vehicle for us and the car has a lot to get acclimated to but overall initial impressions is great. Family loves it. Extremely smooth ride. This is replacing my wife's Cayenne GTS.
