Model X July Deliveries

Congrats ksquared and beautiful pics!

My DS just got back today from his vacation, and even though the status hasn't changed on MyTesla (still says "ordered"), he informed me that my X should arrive at the SC today!! Hoping to pick it up by the end of the week!! I wasn't expecting it until the last week of July!

Thank you!!! That is great news, and I wish you the best with your delivery.

Congrats!! That's great news! Were you even informed by your DS before it went into production? If you recall, back in June we both exchanged a couple of messages here about receiving our VINs. I got mine about 2 weeks after you received yours, which makes me wonder if I will get my X in the next 2-3 weeks, consistent with the estimated July delivery timeframe the Design Center had when I ordered. I have not heard a peep from my DS in the last 3 weeks, and 3 weeks ago he just said that I'm scheduled for late July production.

I was actually contacted by another member of this forum with a very similar VIN that his car was going into production, which at that time was quite a surprise. I then contacted my DS, who informed me that he had been planning to notify me that mine was also entering production (I have no reason to suspect he wasn't telling the truth). My Tesla said my car was in the production queue until delivery, so that was clearly worthless as many have pointed out. My advice would also be to prod your DS. I did so only every two weeks or so, and typically would receive a response, occasionally within hours but sometimes a day or two later (with an apology) with the updated status.

Yesterday I took delivery of a P90DL Black/Black Model X VIN ....84XX in Rockville, MD. Order confirmation date was May 15 if my memory is correct.

Eric was the delivery specialist and he did a great job!

I went over the car using the delivery checklist provided by the forum. They only items that came up during the inspection were:

1) The front passenger side wheel well molding - The delivery team jumped on it, made an adjustment, and then decided to order a new trim part
2) The (rubber?) gasket material pn the passenger side wind shield was wrinkled - I easily smoothed out in 10 seconds using the blunt end of the pen I was using to fill out the checklist.
3) There was some kind of good on the inside of the windshield which cleaned off with a little glass cleaner.
4) Some kind of tar-like good on several of the wheels - Cleaned off easily
5) There was a hint of a wrinkle (you really have to search for it) on the underside of the fabric covering the dash trim piece... -This we just let go. I have no plans to spend time under the dash board examining the under side for hints of a 4mm x 1mm wrinkle with a flashlight.

Everything else checked out very well (90 minutes spent checking) with no problems found.

Comments:
The interior is much nicer than I remembered.
The upgraded stereo system has me very worried. So far I am very underwhelmed by it. I am praying it improves a lot after some break in time. Or that Light Harmonic comes riding to the rescue.
The car is dead silent going down the road in a good way.
It is fast. Ludicrous mode will probably turn out to be redundant.
The chrome door handles/buttons are the ultimate fingerprint magnets!

I took the car directly to "The Car Guys" in Millersville, MD where Matt is doing a full wrap on the exterior and the seat backs. This will be the second Model X they have wrapped. Matt has been super fantastic to work with.

Matt will wrap the door handles/buttons/fingerprint magnets in a clear satin wrap and we will see if it lessens the fingerprint issue... We are going the debadging route during the wrap and I am purchasing new badges for after the wrap is complete. Maybe I buy a 70 badge and turn the car into a sleeper?

A Torklift no drill license plate bracket is on its way here now, as of now the car has a 45 day DC temp tag.
LLoyds Luxe floor mats installed - Very nice, they feel about an inch thick
Abstract Ocean LED lighting Upgrade kit going in this weekend along with touchscreen cover and cell phone mount
Tesla Pride cup holder waiting in the living room...

Pictures to follow (probably of me getting a speeding ticket) soon...

Charles

Why don't you call your DS? I called my DS every wednesday and left a voicemail for probably 2 1/2 months. He would either call me back within a few hours or Email me back late at night. But, he knew I'd be calling. He kept me well informed of what was going as soon as he found out on his end.

Yes, you are right and I probably should. I have been trying to be respectful of the expectations he had set with me at the onset, as well as be patient and not bother/pester him. I feel bad pinging him to often, but then again I'm the customer, right...? :) I will reach out this week to get an update and see if I'm any closer to delivery than what he last told me.

Ask him how often is too often. My DS told me that it was okay to check back weekly and that he would reach out if anything else happened between the weeks.

I also went into the SC to pick up my wall connector and decided to see him in person. This is where I got the best surprise of them all! It had arrived and was on sight!

Looks like my July estimate was accurate and I do belong in this thread. My DS called yesterday to let me know my car is in the final stages and should be ready within a couple days. It had gone into production July 4th weekend. I probably won't be able to get up to the factory to pick it up for a couple of weeks, though.

Confirmed 3/31, VIN 913x, 75D, 6 seats, upgraded to air suspension in May.

I think it's time to do an optimistic happy dance...thank you to @SSD420 and @Scmbug for encouraging me to reach out and ask for an update. :)

This is what I just heard from my DS via email:

Your Model X has recently completed production and is awaiting rail transport.

I am currently waiting for an update from our logistics team, once I am updated I will be able to begin narrowing down your estimated delivery window.

Rail transport typically takes 10-15 days to complete it cross country journey. Once your Model X arrives at our east coast rail hub, our logistics team will coordinate its final move to our service center. It typically takes 2-3 days to coordinate a vehicles final move. Once your Model X arrives at our service center, it will receive on final inspection from our service team. Once the inspection has been completed, I will contact you to schedule your Model X delivery appointment here at our location.

Currently your Model X delivery will likely occur in very late July or early August.

Got my 90 D today. Dan at Tyco center was great. The car was great. No issues at all. I spent so much time reading about issues and trying to memorize everything on lists to check all for naught. Would urge others not do that and enjoy the process. I just hope I did not alienate Dan who had to put up with me putting the car under a microscope. 10 km on car so not much test driving at factory. To everyone enjoy your new cars

Here is the response I received from my DS today.

We are still planning to start production in the coming weeks, which is really exciting! As soon as production has started, I will be sure to reach out and let you know. At that time we’ll be able to confirm final details so that we are prepared for the big day here at the factory – delivery!

Btw I have been getting similar answer for past one month.

Call your DS. You'll get a more honest "Tesla" answer. But they never tell you exact dates!

Got a note from my DS last night -
I have eXciting news – your Model X has entered the early stages of production! Soon, it will move to active production in which the interior is assembled and I will be in touch with this update as well. Following assembly, it will move to final inspections. Upon completion of this step, your car is ready for delivery and I will contact you to schedule your delivery appointment.

Any idea how much time it's taking these days once production has started? The wait has become even longer now.
