Ontario EV Rebates Cancelled July 11, 2018

I thought the rebate says that we have to submit the signed copies. I have the online documents that I can print and sign but I didn't get my delivery specialist's signature...do I need it?

You’re absolutely right. I double checked and I have a copy of my sales agreement that is signed by myself and the delivery specialist. You should’ve gotten a signed copy.

Picked up my car tonight from Lawrence. The lot was jammed with cars including all the supercharger spots. Inside wasn’t too busy with maybe 3 parties waiting around. The person handling our delivery (different from our Delivery Advisor) said that they’ve been doing 30-40 deliveries per day which is a lot for their location. He also said they’ve been working 14hr days including this coming Sunday to try and get as many people as possible their cars. Later in the month, a big push is happening at International Centre.

I had a minor scare when I first got there as the reception person couldn’t find my name in their system. “Are you sure you have an appointment today?”:eek::eek: Cleared that up after a few anxious minutes.

Talked with the delivery handler while we finished paperwork. We handed over the bank draft and signed for the car without even seeing it. A big leap of faith - with a $14k cushion. ;)

My Model 3 was parked inside the service area as it was starting to get dark outside. I used a flashlight anyway to take a close look at the paint, interior, etc.

My car has a few issues which will need to be resolved:
- minor paint scratches on the rear bumper and side skirt (will need to visit a body shop to address)
- big scratches on the chrome trim (service centre will replace)
- one of the rear windows doesn’t retract properly when closing the door resulting in the window glass hitting the frame. The service tech ran some diagnostics but couldn’t resolve it. I’ll have to bring it again for a full investigation. :(

So overall, far from perfect, but they were apologetic and I have no doubt they will fix everything eventually to my satisfaction. I spent about 2 hours in total, maybe 30 min of waiting and 1.5 hrs paperwork and inspection/troubleshooting. At no point did they rush me.

Some pains for sure but... then I drove it for the first time. Holy *sugar*!! :D Effortless acceleration, super quiet (just tire noise), and go kart handling! So fun to drive! I’m surprisingly not worried at all about the flaws and just want to go drive without a destination in mind! Can’t wait til tomorrow so I can see it in full daylight and play some more.

It’s been a crazy ride. Good luck to those taking delivery over the next few days. Hope to see you on the road. Happy (electric) motoring!

I actually saw your specific model 3 in the delivery room when we went back to report all of our issues with the car yesterday. We compared some of the problems with our car with how they were not present with yours (like the hood was too low, non-uniform gap).

As for our problems, it was pretty extensive and annoying that it was overlooked, but it doesn't bother us too much because we're in an incredibly grateful mood. For three months we were convinced we lost $14,000, and only a week ago we received news of the incentive being reinstated and our delivery being announced. So I'd gladly take a car that needs repairs (for free with replacement car) and still get a $14,000 incentive.. over getting a perfect one and no incentive. So our mindset was "still wont cost $14,000".

What's ironic is the day we found out about the incentive and delivery dates, my previous car literally broke down before I could give it to my mom, and ended up with a bill for $1500.. thanks ICE car for making sure I had at least one more bill to pay that I'd never have with an EV.. lol

So a list of our issues, quick rundown:
- bubbles in the paint in at least 3 spots
- significant and very persistent adhesive on the center console where you start the car
- excess white "lubricant" for the center console hinge on the felt
- dashboard speaker cover scuffed on far left
- misaligned headliner by coat hanger in rear passenger side
- warped door rubber trim by C pillar passenger side
- charge door not closing fully
- rough edges bottom of aerodynamic potlight hole
- hood misalignment
- rubber "shoe lace" sticking out of drivers side door rubber trim
- and the most significant and annoying of all... rust specks all over the ENTIRE paint job

So yeah in any other situation, I'd be livid, but I'm just focusing on being grateful. Because I feel for everyone that got screwed with this whole situation and I feel like it's a miracle that it's sitting in my driveway right now!

We finally took delivery today @ Lawrence. Was scheduled for 5 pm, not much of a wait, quick sign (we got all signed copies), checked out the car was only 7 KM and charged to 446KM, some scratches on rear bumper and rear passenger fender, dash was not cleaned at all and had lot of dust, DA took pics and will schedule Service appointment, showed quick settings and set up phone, build is from 08/18 with the chrome trim running all across beneath wood behind the steering wheel, got the die cast model 3. All done in about 90 mins. I asked for second lightning cable instead of USB-C and he said to check with other folks at superchargers :) Also asked about the rear roof not turning orange when wet in newer builds didn't seem he knew anything about it. He said they were scheduled for 28 deliveries today at Lawrence and have about 40 on Monday, with a break tomorrow. Still on version 24.12 and no update notification yet...

Okay so I am one of those that cancelled my RWD order. After learning about the court ruling, I decided to place a new order. Luckily, I got a call today that my vehicle is ready. I hope with my initial order (placed before July 11) and my new order placed recently, I hope I would still qualify if I get the car by Sept 10th.

Although the reservation number will be different. Im taking my chances here.

can someone send a final bill of sale? Curious what it looks like.

Really @adaptabl ? You disagree with his post? Are you that bitter you wish other people misfortune to equal your own? Why are you still here...?

Good luck, @Czarny Green !

Picked up our car today. Love it!!!!

As for insurance ours remained the same as our Passat. We will see what next year brings.

For those still waiting keep faith. There are quite a few at Lawrence and I understand they are trying to get all delivered that qualify. No guarantee but keep faith.

Odd. So my delivery is scheduled for Sept. 22. My IDA from Lawrence told me they are doing deliveries from the International Centre on Airport Road (I chose Toronto over Montreal to be able to show of.. I mean, stop by Toronto friends, and for the nice drive home and supercharger stop back to Ottawa). This is the first I've heard of the International Centre. Perhaps this indicates deliveries ramping beyond what the two showrooms can handle? I'll take it as a good sign.

Thoughts?

The ic was previously used as the drop point for the 2k cars dropped into Ontario in may/june.

There was a job posting a few weeks back for a delivery specialist at the IC. It's an end of quarter push, and there are confirmed people picking up there. But even the reps here aren't quite sure if IC will take all deliveries or not.

I was at Oakville last week talking to a salesperson told me IC will start on Sept 12 and run through end of month. When I told him my tentative pickup site (sept 26-oct 3) was Oakville he was surprised because he thought after the 12th all deliveries would be at IC....

Oakville is more convenient for me, but I don't care as long as it arrives on time as I've sold my volt and arranging transfer for end of month. Exciting times! :D

Congrats! My (Ottawa) delivery for AWD at the International Centre is Sept. 22.

End of quarter push. And this is a big quarter for Tesla. I believe this will be the third time they have used the International Center for this. Last one was June as mentioned. They were delivering up to 200 cars per day in early June. Picked mine up June 5’th. Tapered off a bit after the early June Model 3 push. Great place to take delivery. You can escape Toronto easily from there on the 407.

Picked mine up today and yes I got the little red model 3. The car is a dream and drives amazing. Mine only had 1 or 2 minor scratches. The delivery was a great experience (Oakville) and the delivery assistant took all the time we needed to go over everything. I am really impressed with Tesla not only with their handling of the whole Ford rebate fiasco but their product as well. We definitely made the right choice choosing this car (irrespective of the rebate).
Congrats

Tesla starts ‘immediate deliveries’ of Model 3 on a ‘first come, first served basis’

Well that's a bit disappointing. Could they not have made a push to ship out cars and do something similar for the cancelled orders here before the 10th?

I know, it was always too tight a timeline set...

If you read the thread on the main forum about this it doesn't seem all that great. They re set your order date to the day you pick up and charge the increases price for paint and AWD, even if you have an order pre dating the change.

I guess if you don't care about colour much and don't have a reservation it's not a bad idea, but it sounds like a Walmart on black Friday deal to me. Run through the lot to find the car of choice, rip a tag down and take it to the front desk to complete order.

All to save a couple weeks wait (people who got invited mostly had deliveries in a few weeks). Also, because it's basically at the factory they can cycle cars through. Much more logistical issues doing this in Canada. How to predict demand would be difficult. At least there they haven't paid to ship cars anywhere yet and can divert them if they don't sell.

I get your point but if they were able to keep the order date for the people that cancelled and had them come back with this promo then I am sure they would have (re)sold a bunch this way as many would pick whatever colour/rims etc is available to get the 14k rebate.

However for the regular customer waiting week or month is not as big a deal as getting what you want.
