James Blunt?Who remembers 1973???
I do! Fortunately, a couple of years earlier I had a Saturday job at a petrol station and was still chums with them. I had no problem putting a pound’s worth in my Morris Minor.Who remembers 1973???
QUICK! Charge up the car before the grid goes down too.
I still have my petrol coupons!Who remembers 1973???
Due to my old age, I don't remember anything predecimalisation and so was wondering how much that one pound in 1973 is worth today. According to an internet search, with inflation it's about £971! You can travel a few miles with that.I do! Fortunately, a couple of years earlier I had a Saturday job at a petrol station and was still chums with them. I had no problem putting a pound’s worth in my Morris Minor.
If I remember correctly, they were re-issued ones from the Suez fracas from 1956....I still have my petrol coupons!
Assuming the delivery driver has been able to fill up....My wife just went to fill up her Focus in Fife, and couldn't find petrol anywhere - ridiculous. Just as well my M3 arrives tomorrow
Actually, I did top up my M3 as the price went up from 8.7p to around 12p per kWhr; but now I'm trying to keep the electric level low until I get onto the GO tariff. It won't be long before EV drivers start filling their batteries to avoid the price increases. quod ambulat lectitantur - as Mr Bing would say
Not as far fetched as some might think... 3 jerry cans in the boot of mine because I cant be arsed to go to the petrol station on my bike just for the fun of it... nicer problems to have I suppose. So would it be bad to sit in the Petrol Queue, in a Tesla... for a 5 litres jerry can, in the boot.
I don't need it, but don't want to be left out?
I still have my petrol coupons!
At least there is some electricity available at present to allow this.
I was going to fill up my garage with gerry cans just in case but it's still full of all the toilet roll I bought last year so I don't have the space. The reason there’s panic is because some people have lost the ability to think for themselves - they’ll read some of the news titles that say this is the worst crisis we’ve ever experienced and they’ll rush to the gas station to refill. From there it’s a chain reaction. Sad reality
If you can get anywhere near a supermarket, I’d stock up with pasta. That’ll be next. I hate pasta but better to have it and not need it…I was going to fill up my garage with gerry cans just in case but it's still full of all the toilet roll I bought last year so I don't have the space.
