Performance Upgrade Price Change!

This was written before the whole deal with the price change and PUP inclusion as standard. That tweet is more recent and coming directly from Elon in response to an owner with no PUP.

Second, I don't think there really was any technical limitation of track mode not working properly on P3D- because I don't think the red brakes really are that much different in stopping power. In fact if you read that Tesla article about how track mode works, they mention that their system works on any dual motor. I bet it would work on AWD too.

Its true that they didn't offer track mode before for non PUP but that decision was as artificial marketing decision which Elon reversed in the tweet.

Well if anybody without the package gets the update, post it. Until then, the communication has been pretty terrible:

Timeline:
May: P3D becomes available to order
August 31: Tesla announces track mode availability only for PUP.
September: Tesla announces aftermarket package for track mode.
October 25: P3D "price drop" and PUP inclusion.
October 25: Elon tweets that P3 owners can get $5K back. Elon tweets that all P3s will get track mode.
November: Users are inconsistently notified that $5K is not available unless you ordered PUP.
November 8: Track mode release. Release notes state that PUP is required.

This is amateur level stuff.

Yes it's pretty clear AWD+ (formerly known as P3D-) will not get track mode either. It's quite clear Elon / Tesla does not consider our cars performance models anymore and he was referring to Performance Cars that are currently in production.
How can you possibly conclude that when the guy asked him "what about those without PUP"? Cars currently in production all have PUP so obviously not talking about cars that are currently in production.

Also PUP is not clear, he may have taken that to mean Premium Upgrade Package while smoking his bong.
That's ridiculous. so you think it is more likely that Elon understood PUP as Premium Upgrade Package (an option that currently can't be optioned out) and responded to that with "We will enable track mode for all performance cars"?!?!? Does that make any sense in any conceivable alternate reality?

Forgive me if this is already mentioned, but what exactly is track mode? Haven’t seen specifics. Thanks

Read his tweet a little closer. Notice that his answer is specifically to a person that asked "what about those without PUP". Elon's answer to him was "We will enable track mode for all performance cars". Can't be any clearer than that even for Elon.

We shall see. Keep in mind source for assuming only PUP was R&T not Tesla and also not clearly worded.

Edit: now I see Musk direct answer. It is pretty clear. Plz note he also said P3D re refund not PUp. Maybe he sees them as all P. Watching.

It isn't in the release notes, it is in the in car manual:
