Showed up at 8:02 this AM at the door to the big mall where the Tesla showroom is located. The mall opens two doors early for "mall walkers". (Sarasota, FL). Got in line by 8:10 and found myself 25th in line. They had set up a waiting queue arrangement like a Disney attraction. At 10 AM the staff appeared and did a countdown. They were about 5 minutes late, it being Tesla after all. By that time there were over 100 people in line. The reservation process was simple. Name, address, phone number, email and a credit card and driver's license. Took a couple minutes. I was out of the showroom at 10:15 with a small cookie, a bottle of water and a $1000 reservation for some kind of a Tesla car whenever they get around to actually making it, whatever it is.

I showed up two hours after open to miss the lines, which worked great, because I was only after one person being helped. Then it was my turn and we were done in two minutes. He said wait 24 hours for the email.

My bank card was charged right away. I have yet to receive the email; their email servers must be very busy. Logging into MyTesla is hit and miss because it's inundated. I finally got in, and there's no reservation # for the Model 3's I reserved, but my Model X res# and "Edit Design" are still available; perhaps that's clogging my dashboard because they want me to order (I'm not ordering until I know it will be right to do so, which may be years). I figure this will all sort out in time. Even though some people got their emails immediately, many of us will probably just have to wait that 24 hours before we worry about followup. And I wouldn't be at all surprised if a few of us like me with peculiar MyTesla accounts (with my intentional limbo X configuration) need manual handling some point down the road. I have years (or less?) before it matters, so I'm sure it will be solved in that time.

I registered at the Tysons/Tyco Rd. location just before 11am. I got my AmEx card transaction confirmation immediately but still waiting on the tesla email. I was about #80 in line at 8am. Counted over 200 in line at one point.

Good thing I didn't really go to the Tysons/Tyco location. I was at the Tysons Mall and of course, too many to count by the time I swung in at 10 AM. It took about 1 hour and 10 minutes for me to make a reservation. I haven't received my confirmation e-mail yet. But I do know I'm now on Tesla's mailing list, since I got a reminder e-mail for the Model 3 reveal tonight.

Just talked to a product specialist in Minnesota who said owners did NOT need to show up at store. According to him someone would reach out ahead of time via email so we can make our reservations early without showing up. Also, priority is by VIN# with earlier VINs receiving preference. I'm hoping I'll get a decent placement with VIN 8870 in Minnesota!

so when will they contact us to take our order?

I reserved my Model 3 this morning. Very efficient, I was done before 11am. However, although my credit card was charged right away, I have yet to see any confirmation email or even on mytesla.com. Most others seemed to have at least received one or the other. Anyone else?
