Will not wait for Elon, so we made our own improved seat.

Our car has been in the sourcing stage for about a month. Does anyone know if the future cars will have the slightly better configuration? At least in the driver's seat? I asked our Delivery Specialist and she didn't understand what I was referring to. Even mentioned the stockholder meeting, but it almost sounded like she never heard what he said, so I gave up my inquiry. Short of including a soundbite of what he said, I felt I explained myself pretty well.

That makes sense. I only thought he had mentioned that some of the changes were going to be implemented in a month (from the time of the meeting). I'll be satisfied with whatever style seat I get.

You might get lucky. Maybe they've already made the switch and cars being sourced now will be the first with the new seats. If you get them, let us know how you like them and maybe do a side by side test with another owners older version. Thanks!

I certainly will. It'll be a couple months. Once we get it, we're detailing and going on a trip to S. Cal and N. Cal for family visits. I'm sure that trip will tell the story of comfort, but we'll be in new car ownership mode and may not care. :) We are planning a visit to the factory for a tour too. That will be the highlight of our trip.

A month, Tesla time, which bears no relationship to what the rest of us perceive as the passage of time.
Since we have not been given delivery dates yet here in Australia, and they have been "sourcing" for a month now, we are hoping for the new seats as some slight compensation for the extensive delays and disappointments to date.

I asked about the seat fix at my annual service today, but they said my VIN does not qualify. (I took delivery in early 2013.) Is this consistent with other people's experience?

I'm a March, 2013 car owner myself, but really didn't see the point. In fact I had a loaner yesterday with the "improved" seats (not the new P85D ones) and while they felt a tiny bit softer, I was quite happy with my own seats by comparison. I think all they do is partially remove or loosen the "springs" in the seat.

You also sit a bit lower, if that's something that interests you.

We had it done a few weeks ago, just before we went on a 1600 mile trip sharing driving. We're pleased with the modification. Our complaints differed, but were both based on the seat bottom being too hard. My wife found it painful and I didn't like the lack of lateral support (I slid from side-to-side on turns). After they modified our driver's seat, sinking lower solved my lateral support complaint and the softness solved her complaint.

I've always set the seat position all the way down. Although it wasn't a complaint of mine, I also now like the slightly lower seating position better (I'm 6' 1").

Initially, I thought it odd they only modified the driver's seat and not the passenger's, but after our road trip neither of us were uncomfortable in the passenger's seat even though it's noticeably harder. The only reason I can imagine for the differenence in comfort is that as a passenger you unconsciously are able to shift your position often without being "locked" to the pedals and steering wheel.

BTW - The seats we're accustomed to are our Mercedes S550 and SL500 seats, which are still slightly better overall than Tesla's seats.

Has anyone had such a modification as this done on the standard seats (not the NextGen) since the seats were "improved" in the fall of 2014? I am having trouble getting comfortable in my new 70D and wondering if this is still being done and helpful...

My understanding is that all new vehicles already come fixed. there's nothing left to modify. And this was well before the fall of 2014, that's when the next-gen seats were introduced, I don't believe there was a change to the standard seats at that time.
