  • Driver side rear handle is not flush and is too much inset. This didn't surprise me since others that received their M3s recently have reported the same.
  • The same door with the handle issue also is very hard to close. I have to slam it to close it properly.
  • Near the front emblem, there is a bit of blue ink or paint. I tried to wipe it off with a microfiber towel but it won't come off.
  • The rear passenger window has several scratches. The front passenger also has one but it is very small and if they don't fix it, I might be able to live with that one.

With most auto manufacturers that have vehicles imported, aren't these types of issues fixed at port once they come off the ship? And with domestically-products, aren't these things normally inspected at the factory or at the dealership? I guess what I'm asking, is where is the disconnect with Teslas, or is there a step that's skipped that overlooks these types of issues before the customer picks up their vehicles?

I guess that means that I'll be looking over my M3 with a fine-tooth comb when it arrives.

Hi all!
I ordered a SR+ May 30th, 2021. Midnight Silver. Showed a 4-14 week delivery time, and the range stayed pretty steady at July 5th-July 30th.

On June 22, it switched to a delivery range of June 24-30th. Ok!! Waited...waited...then yesterday (June 27th) it switched all the way to September delivery timeframe. I decided it'd show up when it would show up, and I was going to stop checking.

Three hours later, I got a text to schedule delivery - on June 30th.

I tried to do so through the Tesla calendar - but the calendar actually showed June 30th as being a Monday. June 30th is actually Wednesday. 🤣 (I hope whoever coded the page for the calendar didn't program my car...ha).

I called to schedule then, and I have a VIN and pickup date June 30th. They did say the car is actually still finishing in production, but they are trying to get them assigned and to folks as quickly as possible. I live about an hour and a half from Fremont, so I could see the short turnaround working (I hope).

Anywho. That's my update - and fingers crossed!
Happy for you but low key jealous because I ordered May 25 and nothing lol

It’s just poor QC. I believe that it’s a known issue with Tesla. They pump these things out of the factory. Make sure you do look it over with a fine-tooth comb. I’ll be doing the same thing.
From what I hear though, they are good about fixing all of the issues.

So quite a bit of development since my last update of my reservation being put on hold till 30 September. GM FINALLY got back to me about my Bolt buyback. They told me I was good to trade into a new GM vehicle and they'd give me a credit worth $43.9k (MSRP of my recalled Bolt) for the trade. I found a dealer willing to swap me into a 2022 Bolt EUV with $43.8k sticker (so just about maxes out my credit), though the new Bolt was in a factory hold waiting for a computer chip the Supercruise system needs. But assuming that Bolt can ship out within the next 2 weeks, I'll most likely be able to swap into it by sometime in August, if not a little earlier.

So I decided to click the "I'm ready" button for my Model 3 order, assuming I'd be at the end of the queue for a September delivery. Today I check and it has a 10-30 July EDD. Lol So now a decent chance I may have to put my Model 3 order on hold again if the new Bolt isn't ready for pickup by the end of July (assuming the EDD is correct).

Goal is to still flip the (new) Bolt EUV for a Model 3, but depending on how much I (and especially the wife) like the EUV, it's also possible we may decide to keep it. Things still very fluid.

Delivery Update:

So I received my car today. At around 6:00PM, my son told me there is a car out front so I went outside and there was my Model 3 on the side of the road. I see the delivery person jump in another car and drove off without looking at me even though I tried to make eye contact and say hi.

Everything including papers to sign and the key cards were in the car locked. I had to go to my account and accept delivery in order to use the mobile app to unlock the car. Using the checklist I got from this site and my cousin's help (who also has a 2019 Model 3), we went through the car and there were 4 issues we found.

  • Driver side rear handle is not flush and is too much inset. This didn't surprise me since others that received their M3s recently have reported the same.
  • The same door with the handle issue also is very hard to close. I have to slam it to close it properly.

I used the mobile app to request for service which will come out to me on Tuesday of next week between 7 - 11 am. Hopefully, all the issues can be fixed. Other than that, I haven't noticed anything else wrong with the car.

It is odd that the SA told me that I would get a call shortly before the car is delivered which I never did. I love the car and company but they definitely need to get their acts together more.

Apologies for the crappy pics, there is some sort of weird filter on my iphone I can't figure out how to remove.
I spoke with the Fremont Delivery Center and confirmed that the Delivery Specialist would notify - the employee said, "Yes, a phone call or text will happen when the car is on the way." However, my gut feeling was divided that it may or may not happen.

Since I have a trade in, hopefully they do in fact let me know when they're on the way since they need to drive away with the car parked in the garage lol. I also feel like there's some additional paperwork needed to be signed since I'm transferring liability.

This waiting game is making me more anxious as time goes on...

I, too, have been lurking on here for maybe a week or so. 🤣 I thought I’d share where I’m at in the process.

Order Date: 6/7/2021
Configuration: M3SR+ white/white aero rims no FSD
Location: San Bernardino County, CA
Delivery Location: Buena Park, CA

I’ve had a number of EDD ranges:

7/31-8/21
7/25-8/14
7/4-7-24
7/15-7/30

Current range is 7/25-8/14. Fortunately or unfortunately, I sold my 2015 Nissan Altima much more quickly than I thought I would. As a result I have no car for the time being, which is livable (because I am off for the summer) but still frustrating.

Also wondering if anyone has ordered a wall connector and had it delivered to their home, and how long that process took? I ordered mine on 6/23 and have a Tesla-referred contractor coming to install on 7/9so it doesn’t matter how long it takes as long as it arrives before then. LOL

So glad this forum exists!!!

I did it guys! Multiple concerns, door handles not flush, some mis aligned doors/good but they put it all on the due bill that I'll take care of in a service appointment!!! I'm in love
Seems that more of us are getting door handles that aren't flush. I read somewhere that when they fix it, they just put spacers in there. I will see if I can find out what they do after my appointment on the 15th of July... as I am generally nosey on what the issue/fix was/is lol.

Hi all! Wanted to share my details for folks that are interested.

Order Date: 6/18/2021
Configuration: M3 SR+, White/Black, Aero rims, no FSD
Location: Seattle
Delivery Location: Home (?) When I ordered it didn't give me a delivery location.

Current EDD:
7/23-8/12

Previous (most recent at the top):
7/24-8/13
7/29-8/19
7/30-8/20
7/31-8/30
8/1- 9/1
7/31-8/30
7/30 - 8/29

Like many others, my EDD has been bouncing all over the place. When I placed my order (University Village) the SA I was working with stated it would most likely be a Sept delivery. Not putting too much stock in the EDD but would be over the moon if I get a July delivery!

Yeah, the only handle that was flush was my driver door, all other handles are recessed pretty annoying. Does seem like they rushed the cars out for EOQ.

So, it is now 36 days after I placed my order with a trade in, and Carvana has emailed me giving me a much better offer selling my current car than Tesla's trade in value. (Almost 3k more) Is there a way to back out of the trade in that I have in the order? I haven't signed any final contracts or heard from Tesla. Do they negotiate on things like this? I'm also wondering if I sell my car to Carvana and cancel the trade in part of my order if it will delay things.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

There should be a way in your Tesla order page to cancel the trade-in. I've done it on my Y.
