finally...
Finally what? EM has just mastered the art of over promising. I don't care if he does do a QA at 11 tomorrow... Still shouldn't have tweeted it. As he knows more than others stuff comes up and that could get scrapped. Resulting in 4th missed deadline. Tomorrow is Sunday... No one was expecting anything... Till he logged onto Twitter. again.

This is not a private company. Not only is it public... He is asking for more money.

Um...how exactly is the delay affecting your life? You seem awfully emotionally invested in it.

Calm down man! He is managing two companies and SpaceX was in crisis mode in the last 2 weeks. Can you really blame a man that is trying to help better the world? With his wealth, he could have just bought an island and relax for the rest of his life. He doesn't have to go through all the hard times to support two world changing companies.

I forgot exploring the next frontier has no personal advantages to a driven wealthy person. All sacrifice. Personally I'd rather be creating new car companies that at the fastest in the world and launching rockets vs living on a island. No matter my net worth.

Tesla is not normal company: it is young and goal driven: clean energy. Maximizing share price and profit is only a secondary goal to support the first. Making really significant money will likely be 2-10 years.

Then don't go public and risk other people's money. If you say being responsible will increase profits then Great. But you need you disclose that you care about investor money secondary to clean energy.

Lots of people do capital raises without going public (i.e. Uber - they are not doing to bad)

What's wring with going public? Because it doesn't fit in the tradiyional box? What happened to the American adventurous spirit?

What's wrong? Nothing. BUT there are negatives. There are fiduciary duties you sign up for... There are responsibilities you take on. No on is forced to go public, but if you do the public will decide the fate of your company.

Lighten up Francis. Whether the tweet happens or not doesn't matter. When the update rolls out to the cars is what does. Then and only then will we really know what 8.0 is all about. Anticipation can be frustrating but it is part of owning a Telsa. Fun fun.

Shareholders in large really don't give a crap because these updates are immaterial in driving revenue and profit. Sure it keeps the buzz on but other than that doesn't really matter. Building and delivering cars, Solar City and share dilution do. 8.0 effects none of that.

Public company means shares available to public on exchanges and compliance with SEC. That is it. Who going to fund the offering? Not you or I, the institutions. Based upon their view of investment and whether they believe they can sell it to large buyers like funds.

Some on this forum seem to think public means something beyond that.

If you are a current shareholder, then you are part of funding the offering whether you know it or not.

And you think the blog post is going to affect the stock how?
I know it seems silly, but I can absolutely guarantee you that the blog affects the stock. Traders at work watch that thing like a hawk. To be fair, they watch press releases and such too, it's just that Tesla generally likes to use the blog for drumming up interest in new features. Sounds like they're doing both for this one, so it might be big.

Beyond that simple feedback, there's also the fact that he's promising details on upcoming features in the weeks leading up to an attempt to secure additional investment to bring Model 3 to market. Excitement generated here could affect the deal, and the deal definitely affects the stock price.

So as absurd as it sounds, it is kind of important.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Twitter has become less about communication for him, and more about being a fluffer
Definition of "fluffer". Noun. (plural fluffers) Agent noun of fluff; one who fluffs. (pornography) One who arouses male pornographic actors before filming.

Did you really mean to say that?

Yes, it's in pretty common use these days, but that is where it comes from. Elon has to get that stock ready for its performance! (Equity raise and shareholder buy-in on solar city deal)
