Thought I'd give the new Planner a try. No P85 option, so I chose a 75D, enjoy:

TexasEV: yep!

I did test one of the two HPWCs at El Cosmico in Marfa - 80 amps delivered as I recall.
Friday night happy hour there in Summer - don't know about winter.

The towns out here seem to act pretty independently - as seen from this outsider.
(Been here over 9 years. Might be considered a local after another 10 1/2.)

I sent the following message to Tesla regarding their Trips Planner application which only supports the latest batteries. It seems that they do not understand that 70 to 80% (guess) of all the Teslas sold do not have the latest batteries. This is a very poor implementation since it can only be used by the current battery options. There are much better applications to use.

The Tesla Trips link that you just added on your website is not a good implementation. It only supports the following batteries: - 75kw - 100kw - 100kw performance.

To make the application useful it should also support the following batteries: - S60 - S70 - S85 - S90 This is not a good app to use unless you are running the latest cars being sold by Tesla.

Hi Sir,
Thank you for contacting Tesla support. We appreciate your feedback about the Tesla Trips link on our page. I will pass this feedback on to our programming team to see if we can implement this on our site. I am not sure if there is a reason that the older models are not included but I can see how it would be beneficial to add those. If you have any other feature requests, please do not hesitate to let us know.

It's a sales tool. It's not intended for us.

namlio: Cafe Next Door in Ozona was pretty good diner food today. $10 special was salad (not wilted!), steak fingers crisply fried, spiced up boiled potatoes, corn, mashed potatoes, gravy, dinner roll, tea. Large portions. Pretty good heart attack meal.
Learned a lot about raising goats from eavesdropping the locals. Friendly place.

Filmshack: Flying G RV Park was a gravel and asphalt parking lot - totally full - not much charm to the place. $18 a night.
You'll probably be happier with one of the other RV parks nearby.

Cruised through Hotel Row and the Flying J on I-10. No activity.

Passed a classic S headed west, grey(?), between Harper and I-10. Anybody from here?

Charliepmayer: Thanks for checking out the Flying G. Looked pretty austere on the web site and now it's verified.
When I showed the Fort Stockton options to my wife her comment was "we're going through Midland".
Thanks again!

Thanks for all of the advice, suggestions, and comments guys. Unfortunately, I can’t find a viable charging option in Alpine. The Performance Guys only allow access during open hours and they are not open on the weekend. I called to see if I could arrange something, but I never got a call back. The hotel where we are staying only has a 120v outlet and it will take 55 hours to get enough charge to to get back to Ozona (@ 4 mph). I have considered a trip to Marfa, but I would have to spend many hours there to get enough charge.

We will take my wife’s ICE instead. I was so looking forward to the ride in the Tesla. I wouldn’t have agreed to go if I had known earlier. Another owner bitten by the lack of a supercharger in Fort Stockton. Oh well. Thanks again. AJ

Wow...this is taking a long time. Back in 2015, we drove cross country, adding about 500 miles to get around Texas. (see map) I was hoping to be able to take 10 all the way, but until Fort Stockton is done, it is a bit risky. I will read the whole thread to see if there are details on why it has not opened. Is Ft. Stockton an oil town??

This thread warms my heart. I lived in Houston growing up and as far west as we could ever get with gas-o-line without pure exhaustion was Van Horn/Ft Stockton. So happy to see we can now get through West Texas to get home one day. Haha. Like we'd ever drive that again...the times they are a changin'
