Supercharger- New River AZ

Really hoping the Kayenta charger comes online soon. I grew up skiing in Telluride, CO and the quickest way there is through Kayenta. The current Supercharger network requires you to divert all the way to Gallup, NM.

Has anyone heard anything about Kayenta?
Only in our dreams .... It wouldn’t need many stalls. And it doesn’t need to be V3 either. Tesla is upgrading a bunch of SC to V3 — how about repurposing some of that used equipment to Kayenta?

Would be better if they put some Superstations in the Mesa/Gilbert area. I guess the more the better. Is this the location you are referring to?

Definitely need a supercharger in the East Valley (Gilbert/Mesa) area! I even submitted a great location to Tesla for where they could put one right in Gilbert a half mile from Hwy 60. Hopefully they will get something out in East Valley for all of us soon.

In contrast, I've never had an issue charging at Cordes on the I-17 corridor (oddly the I-17/101 supercharger has been nearly full or charging slowly almost every time I've pulled in since it opened). I can't see myself using this charger in New River very often, though hopefully it'll keep traffic away from the Cordes site.

Wow! I charge at Cordes 5-6 times per month, and rarely see more than two cars. A few times I've seen 6-8, but I've never seen it full and never had to wait.

I've been charging there for the past 2 weeks. I figured they are probably using the enthusiasts for beta testing before marking it as open.

Also, they went pretty short on the cables so make sure to park as close as you can to ensure a solid connection.

I used this Supercharger and I'm so glad it is open! Sneaky, I didn't know anything at all about this until last night when we were on our way up to Flagstaff (first time 'home' from our 'other place' in Phoenix since mid-December). We charged for a bit at the I-17 and 101 SC and saw this on the map on TezLab, I was excited to try it out. Was charging at 125kW for a few moments.

The biggest benefit is that we no longer have to stop at 17/101 and make the terribly circuitous route to get into that dang center, and deal with those slow SCs (not as slow as Biltmore, ugh) and slowly get back up to 17 going north/south. I believe not dealing with this out-of-the-way drive and the faster SCs will save us about 20 minutes each way... if not close to 30 minutes. That's a lot for what should be a 2 hour drive.

My take: for me this is pretty fantastic... coming down from Flagstaff I can start out with my full-ish charge from home where electricity is 3 cents per kWh (November-April, 10a-3p thanks APS that's cheaper than any solar system I could install!) - then I can get to New River and charge and have enough range until I need to return to Flagstaff! Going up to Flagstaff, I can stop here too and have a bit more range when I get home. Driving a MX P100DL+ it didn't used to be possible to make the 145 mile drive without stopping in Cordes with my 22"s... I switched to the 20"s because I got about 40 miles more of range on the PHX-FLG drive with the 20"s.

ALSO - is this the 'gray pin' on the Tesla Supercharger map for Phoenix? I really hope not... because it isn't Phoenix it gives me a tiny bit of hope that there will be something in midtown/downtown Phoenix. The new parking garage for the Creighton Medical School at Park Central Mall would be a fantastic location. When I owned The Clarendon Hotel and Spa I offered to donate the land for a SC but they didn't bite. The one at Biltmore is just awful and slow and crowded... and when that gym opens is going to get worse. We live in the Roosevelt District and it's much faster to drive to 17/101 than to go to Biltmore with the increase in charge rate taken into consideration.
