More Info: Supercharging.Life database

This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

See Supercharging.Life database for info on how to post your own visits to the database (preferred), or post your locations with date visited to this thread and one of the admins will update your list for you. All visits must be posted to this thread - not just entered in supercharging.life. If you are the first in the game to visit a supercharger location, please post to the thread as soon as you can so others know it has been visited.

I did that once. To give you an idea of the strength of the cold front we drove into, it was in the high 90s in Billings and the low 50s in Great Falls. I had to drive 10 mph under the speed limit into that headwind for about an hour and a half to make it. Luckily, the last 20 miles or so is downhill into the river valley. Showed up at about 5% after leaving Billings at 100%. I'll be sticking to the freeways for that trip from now on, unless the weather is perfect.
Thanks. Decided to not push my luck as I've already had two white knuckle drives on this trip. Backtracked to Big Timber and did a fill charge. Drove slowly and arrived with 24%, which was slightly better than the predicted 21%.

I think I've forget to post recent check-ins in last few months but it's nice to Supercharging.life and login to check-in and keep track.

Just one today, but now I start my way out of Montana tomorrow.

Day 18
284 miles
5424 total.

- Great Falls, MT (#1595) (Comment: Hampton inn )

The wind dictated my short route today. I chose the safer approach to Great Falls and backtracked to Big Timber.

Spent the afternoon siteseeing around Great Falls. Not a lot here, but the CM Russell museum was quite cool. Lots of Lewis and Clark stuff here, as the falls nearly stopped them in their tracks. The falls are now tamed by hydropower dams.

Just one supercharger all day today.

Check-ins for 2024-05-26
- McHenry, MD (#567)

However, I did bag two (2) more state high points.

The Tesla Nav routed me by the parking lot near the top of Mount David in Pennsylvania, but Apple Maps showed me how to continue around to the trailhead, where I could hike back down into the valley, so that I could hike back up, 5 miles round trip. I wasn't expecting much, but it turned out to be a surprisingly beautiful hike.

On the other hand, the short hike from the West Virginia side to Hoye Crest in Maryland was probably the worst hike I've ever seen. Only a little over a mile up and then back down, but it was a steep, rocky old logging road, with frequent morasses of mud, almost the whole.

My moniker has been Bighorn going back to 2013. The “meat” was a Bighorn sheep, so it was more an affinity to my namesake. 🤓
I can be a bit slow at times. ;-)

Pretty wild that of all the paintings in that museum, the one I chose to capture was the one that Mr. Petrie appears to cherish a lot (the most?) since they chose to feature him in front of that same painting.

I thought you might appreciate the story and the fact it was “lost” for 50 years.

Ha! I enjoyed the recap of the Hoye Crest hike. I was very naive when I did that one. In fact, I didn't realize it was going to be an actual "hike" until I got there lol. Up to that point, I had just been doing the drive up high points and I got confused in my research and thought it was basically a drive up with a very short walk to the high point like WV and PA can be if you go the easy route like I do. Anyways, I did that one on an unseasonably warm day in mid March and again being naive I didn't realize how lucky I was with the weather. I think it's normally a snow-covered trail that time of year. I did have to navigate around some mud and ruts in the "road" with standing water, but it wasn't too bad. Again, I was probably luckier than I realized in that it was relatively dry. I was also too naive to realize what a crappy hike it is, but I was just happy that I didn't take a wrong turn and get lost and that I made it to the top :)

PS I did all 3 of those in one day which was kind of a challenge with a medium range Tesla and no supercharger in McHenry. It would be trivial to do now, but I remember I had to charge to 100% and park overnight at my hotel in Weston, WV to make it work. Even then I was limping into the La Vale, MD supercharger after sunset.

My Tesla has a minor parking lot incident so borrowed my kids TM3 this weekend and hit these new ones on the way back.

Makes my total 546 now. Realized that I forgot to log that one when I saw that there weren't enough charge stops to cover the miles on that day of the road trip! Found it on my Tesla account and inserted it into the database for the date.

I briefly considered zig-zagging home to get a few more chargers, but instead got back in time to make the cook-out at the in-laws.

I did spot to stretch my legs at the New River Gorge National Park visitor center. It was about halfway between Sutton and Princeton, WV, on US-19. There's a nice overlook of the bridge and gorge. (The pic is from when I stopped there a couple of years ago, on a different hiking trip, since I didn't take any today.)

I broke 1,600 unique locations today.
486 miles driven
Completed my first supercharge in the state of Washington, which means I only have to charge in Oregon to complete the lower 48 plus DC.

A picture perfect day for a drive across Montana.

I arrived in Couer d'Alene around dinner, so I popped down to the waterfront, walked around a bit,and had a chicken sandwich overlooking the action on the water. Lots of great people watching, too.

Decided to make it a short day once I gave up on getting home by Tuesday. I think I hit the wall on my trip as I ended up sleeping 14 out of 22 hours in Lancaster after I had driven through the night the night before. And now I felt tired enough to get a room in Fresno and I've only been awake for 12 hours. Good news is I'll be home in a couple days so I'll be able to rest up for real then. Not looking forward to hitting the Bay Area during a weekday rush hour, but there's no way I was going to drive through the night again.

As for today's new superchargers, I had to wait at 3 of them, but I was always first in line, so never waited more than 1-2 minutes. It was definitely busy out there with the Memorial Day traffic, but only a couple minor slowdowns on the road and no long waits for superchargers so I'll call it a win.

After leaving South Dakota, I followed in the footsteps of EV manufacturer Oliver P. Fritchle and drove his 1908 route from Lincoln, Nebraska to York, Pennsylvania (he drove his 100-mile EV all the way to New York City and Washington DC).
