This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

SoS Trip Day 39

This was a long drive for one new Supercharger. On top of that, we lost an hour due to the time zone change. What's with that? - Flagstaff to Amarillo is about 600 miles and there's a two hour time difference. Amarillo to New York is about 1,700 miles and there's a one hour time difference.

Try wrapping the supercharger handle with a wet rag. Works wonders at keeping the speeds up in the blazing sun.

I tried that today in Albuquerque using a wet wad of paper towels. It was remarkably effective. My charging rate had dropped to about 56 kW even though I was only up to about 105 miles of range. After wrapping the handle, the charging rate climbed again to 104 kW and stayed up there for quite a while before slowly dropping as the battery got fuller.

And what's with Albuquerque - only 6 V2 chargers - all six were occupied late morning Sunday with six out of state Tesla's - 2 CA, 1 MD, 1 NC, 1 GA and 1 NJ.

I would still pay close attention while placing a reservation with them, you should get all information before registering payment information. They also have a limited number of Tesla's, so you probably need to place a reservation some time in advance.

I tried that today in Albuquerque using a wet wad of paper towels. It was remarkably effective. My charging rate had dropped to about 56 kW even though I was only up to about 105 miles of range. After wrapping the handle, the charging rate climbed again to 104 kW and stayed up there for quite a while before slowly dropping as the battery got fuller.

And what's with Albuquerque - only 6 V2 chargers - all six were occupied late morning Sunday with six out of state Tesla's - 2 CA, 1 MD, 1 NC, 1 GA and 1 NJ.

Albuquerque has been in need of a new station and an upgrade for several years. Lines at that station are common IME. While the recent upgrades to Holbrook and Gallup help, parts of I-40 could use a lot of improvements to make it work better. Same with I-25.

It's all flyover country, so who cares, right?

SoS Trip Day 39

This was a long drive for one new Supercharger. On top of that, we lost an hour due to the time zone change. What's with that? - Flagstaff to Amarillo is about 600 miles and there's a two hour time difference. Amarillo to New York is about 1,700 miles and there's a one hour time difference.

Arizona does not recognize Daylight Saving Time with the exception of Navajo Nation in the NE part of the state.

Other time zone oddities: extreme eastern Oregon (Ontario area) is on Mountain Time. The western panhandle of Florida (Pensacola) is on Central Time. In this instance you have a Pacific Coast state and an Atlantic Coast state one time zone apart. Similarly, West Wendover, Nevada is on Mountain time. In addition, northwest Indiana is on Central time while the rest of the state is on Eastern time.

My unproven theory is that in days of yore when time zones were delineated, the overarching principle had to do with radio. Where do eastern Oregonians get their radio programs? Boise, Idaho is only an hour away while Portland, Oregon is six hours. Similarly, NW Indiana is next door to Chicago and much further from Indianapolis. West Wendover is 90 miles from Salt Lake City and hours from larger communities in central or western Nevada. Likely the radio signals (we're talking Amplitude Modulation--it's the '20s after all) were stronger and carried easier across flat lands instead of mountains.

It made sense for the local residents to have their time set the same as the large metro area with multiple radio stations telling their listeners that the current time was 8:15 (but for those of you in Indiana, it is 9:15). Too confusing for many of the people who used the radio to inform them of the correct time o' day.

Just my hazard at a guess.

No new Superchargers today, but I did want to give a shout out to the Overton Hotel in Lubbock, which has 4 72 amp Tesla destination chargers which make it possible to drive directly from Amarillo to Sweetwater at a reasonable speed. The chargers are behind a locked chain so you do have to ask the hotel valet or reception to unlock them, and you are supposed to spend some money at the hotel restaurant - we had a very nice lunch there. You could probably get away with a drink at the bar.

We added 56 miles of range in 1 hr 12 mins.

We drove 246 miles from Amarillo to Sweetwater and used 274 rated miles (I had done a full charge this morning, so started with 260 rated miles. I drove the whole way at 70 - 75 (roads permitting). You probably could do the whole drive without stopping if you drove at 60-65, but you'd annoy the heck out of the locals (they were all passing me when I was doing 75). And all bets are off if the wind is blowing in the wrong direction.

Also Lubbock has the 'largest windmill museum in the world' - unfortunately it is closed on Monday or we would have visited.

That is a good shoutout. We did an evening Segway tour in Pittsburgh and it has several 80 amp Tesla chargers. Heck, I had to lower my amps so they wouldn't finish before we ended the tour (90%). This was super handy so I didn't have to visit a supercharger the next day. $5 after 4pm for parking.
