More Info: Supercharging.Life database

This is a friendly contest for Tesla owners to track the number of unique public Superchargers where they have charged

- "Supercharger count" is the number of unique public Superchargers where you have charged (just being there does not count), whether or not you were the person plugging in the vehicle (such as a Valet Parking garage or a Passenger) and whether or not it was your own personal vehicle (such as a rental, a loaner, or a friend's Tesla) as long as you were the one who drove >50% of the distance to reach the charger(s).
- The list of chargers in the supercharging.life database are the ones included in the game. If you think one should be added or removed from the list, let us know.
- Only chargers available to the public without special permission are included in the game.
- Chargers not connected to the grid are not counted.
- Doublet locations like the North/South Supercharger 'pairs' in CT, ME, NH, etc. count as individual locations.
- More than 1 charger at the same address, such as Lenox Square Mall (Atlanta, GA) or Montgomery Mall (Bethesda, MD) count as individual locations when they appear as a separate location on the Tesla Nav screen.
- Inactive competitors will be archived and removed from the leaderboard. Just post an update to be reactivated.

See Supercharging.Life database for info on how to post your own visits to the database (preferred), or post your locations with date visited to this thread and one of the admins will update your list for you. All visits must be posted to this thread - not just entered in supercharging.life. If you are the first in the game to visit a supercharger location, please post to the thread as soon as you can so others know it has been visited.

I see what prompted the question - San Diego Torrey Hills, CA. It’s a battery trailer unit that is also connected to the grid. Since it’s all by itself rather than supplementing an existing Supercharger, perhaps… 🤔

What say you, fellow Supercharger hunters?

Just for context:

Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Torrey Hills (24 V3 stalls, permit filed)
Supercharger - San Diego, CA - Torrey Hills (24 V3 stalls, permit filed)

I'm not 100% sure whether the location of the trailer is the same as the subject of the thread, which (in my mind) is relevant to the question. I've asked for confirmation in the thread.

Bruce.

PS. I just KNEW when I saw those photos that it was gonna come up here. 😁

I see this happen sometimes and I'm not sure what causes it.

If it's a temporary charger to hold people over until the permanent one is built at the same location, I don't think it should count as a separate Supercharger.
How about we tentatively allow it, since it might be the site of a permanent supercharger.
I think it is temporary until the permanent one is built. It will be one supercharger location for the game, whether we count the temporary one or not. The only difference is whether we start counting it now, or when the permanent one is built.

From what I remember, we did not count the temporary battery trailers in Culver City or Santa Monica (SM of which is located at the site of the soon to be massive V3 install). Doesn't make sense to include this temporary San Diego one now since does not appear to be fed by the grid IMO.

I don't think we should allow temporary trailer-based superchargers. They are ephemeral by nature. I don't think we should incentivize chasing after them. The only expedition I think we should consider is when they provide a temporary alternative while a permanent location is being renovated/upgraded.

This one *is* connected to the grid. It’s a relatively small connection but that’s all it needs. That’s the only reason why I’m waffling on whether or not we count it.

I just did it for good measure since it was going to come up eventually, as it did for other weird circumstances. Didn't want for someone to cancel a 15-hour road trip midway

OK, a little (long) explanation. It has always been my intent to be a purist and drive every mile to and between superchargers in my own car, however...This trip to Tennessee was originally planned to attend a concert in April of '20 and I was going to drive to it but due to COVID this event has been postponed four times, The final reschedule happened to coincide with the end of my time share week in Whistler which has also been cancelled once and rescheduled twice and could not be rescheduled again. The only way I was going to make my event was to fly out of Seattle on my way home from Whistler. Part Deux:

My flights would arrive and leave Nashville when the rental car agencies were closed necessitating staying near the airport and doing two shuttles to get a car. Additionally, post-covid shutdown rental car prices are crazy, 3-4x what I would have paid previously. All this adds up to Turo as the solution, a very nice woman picked us up at baggage claim at 1am and handed us the card to a Model Y and she'll meet us at departures at 5am to take it back.

These 5 SC's will be the only ones in my rented car and I hope I can get a COVID exemption for these and keep my gold belt buckle.
I don't have a problem with it obviously, but I was just curious how you got out there so fast. Also noticed you were at Sea-Tac on LIfe360 so I figured you flew :)

I’m going to walk this one back. I studied the picture some more and it appears that there is no grid connection. I had previously assumed that the plywood along the curb was covering power cables but that doesn’t appear to be the case. So this seems to be just like the other temporary battery trailers that we haven’t been counting.

Is a Covid exemption like an International Turo Tesla rental exemption?

Seems like most are down with that. 😋

I’m not understanding why this is a question at all. Can someone enlighten me please?

Are you telling me that Kettleman City and Baker with all their solar is NOT connected to ”the grid”?

Lone Tree, CO (south Denver) mall had pallets, but were definitely “connected to the grid”. Then they built the real SC 1/4 mile away (same mall) and kept the old one for a bit, with grid power for HPWCs as well. Barstow, CA SC had surge weekend use and pallet SCs, also grid connected - before they had a solar setup above four of the stalls. But not enough energy.
Is there an SC site that is 100% Solar powered in the US? I’ll put it on the list for retirement after most of you have passed 1200 unique 😉
Might be seeing you near Solyndra FTW?

The question is: what’s the threshold for when a temporary location counts? So far in this game, that threshold has been a grid connection and a unique location (examples: Knoxville, TN - Neyland Drive and Salem, VA - Apperson Drive).

That’s not what I’m saying at all. Neither of these locations are temporary and they are most definitely connected to the grid.

I’m not familiar with the Lone Tree temporary setup. Sounds like maybe it should have counted.

Supplemental temporary units like Barstow definitely don’t count as additional/new visits.

I’m totally open to the group clarifying or modifying the rules as the situation on the ground changes.

We're back home from our leaf-peeping trip. Added four more today and none yesterday:

1067. Littleton, MA
1068. Lexington, MA
1069. Charlton - Westbound, MA
1070. Charlton - Eastbound, MA

I made Anna and our two Texas friends suffer through the turnaround to get both Charlton's.

Here's the map for the last 3 days:

Grats on the leaf-peeping trip! Looking forward to doing the same on our visit to VT next week, then heading down upstate NY to MD the week after.

Congrats on the firsts! Two in one trip is pretty great!

Added these to the spreadsheet:
09/25/2021Wheatland, WY
09/25/2021Lusk, WY
09/25/2021Custer, SD
09/25/2021Spearfish, SD

09/26/2021Oacoma, SD
09/26/2021Mitchell, SD
09/26/2021Sioux Falls, SD

Got all but Watertown in South Dakota, would have added too much time to the trip and we already got in pretty late to our hotel after visiting Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, and the Badlands. Will have to come back and hit it on the way to North Dakota at some point...
