My recently delivered model Y RWD has headlights with really bad dark patches on both sides. I have booked a mobile service for next week, but I want to check with the community if this is "normal". I am hoping that mine are faulty and will get replaced. I adjusted the headlights a number of times. While the beam may be adjusted higher or lower, the square "cut-out" look stays the same. It is just terrible.

Terribly patchy headlights on model Y

I had tried many times, but they won't align and they stay like that. Other than having areas not illuminated, they are also not as bright as my 3.5-years-old model 3. If this is normal they are much worse than my old model 3.
Not as good as the EU matrix headlights which are not patchy but not as expensive either.
I read somewhere that the model S/X now has the brilliant mercedes type digital headlight (1 million individually controlled LED’s per lamp) but the tesla onboard computer is still too underpowered to exploit them. Not sure how true all that is.
No, they're fine. When they shine out further into the distance, they will converge.
Wouldn’t that be blinding for the oncoming traffic? They are already adjusted to a distance that I feel is far enough. They would have to shine a lot further to converge.
Does not seem to be. Ive never been flashed by oncoming traffic and the "dead spots" in the light throw seem to correlate quite nicely to oncoming traffic while throwing a bit more light so the left kerb is more lit up.
What was your previous car? Do you still have access to it to compare the light beam pattern?

I think the headlights are crap. Inconsistent colours in the beam pattern, demented behaviour of the auto high beam. My previous cars have had MUCH better lights (2021 M135i, 2019 Tiguan).
I'm not sure what's going on with your cars.
