Tesla called - said they have a car available - but does not have ultrasonic sensors - what does it mean?

Have been on waiting list for a while - hoping to get HW4. Estimated delivery in app says "March 2 - March 18." Somebody from Tesla called - said they have a car - but it does not have ultrasonic sensors. What does it mean - has HW4, HW3 w/o ultrasonic sensors, etc. Are newly built ones different?

A bit confusing - would appreciate more insight before calling them back.

Thank you

It seems that there is no official statement on HW4 at of time of writing. Last night on EV CPO, model S and X cars with a HW4 filter showed up. To my understanding, if this is correct, the model S and X cars will have HW4 soon/already and the 3 and Y will receive it much later.

That being said, this car they called you about is likely a HW3 w/o ultrasonic sensors (same as the late 2022 Model Y cars).

Newly built cars should be the same, but there have been some reports saying Model Y cars built in Fremont (don’t know if all) have the matrix headlights. This is something that another member could probably answer since most of my knowledge is on Model S and X vehicles.

Pretty sure Tesla stopped delivering Ultrasonic Sensors in all cars. Tesla plans to use ”Vision” to fill this need. Unfortunately, Tesla stopped delivering cars with ultrasonic sensors before having a vision solution. So things like park assist do not work.

Hi...in Europe Chinese Model Y/3 all have Matrix Headlights like mine, 2023 Model Y RWD LFP

If this is HW3 w/o ultrasonic sensors.....Just give Tesla $250 and wait for a new Model X

Doesn't HW4 have cameras in the front bumper? If so, the lack of USS is fine. But, I thought the 3 refresh was the first car to get the new cameras and HW4.
That’s what was rumored but I do not think that is the case. Seems like these new cars have upgraded cameras and new radar.

Delivery specialist told me the car that I am expecting next week will have HW4. I don’t think they always know what they are talking about though so will find out soon. Isn’t there something I can check via the vehicle software (that will display the HW version)?
