I just took delivery of my 2020 (total order to delivery was 4 weeks) had my reservations but allowed the delivery specialist to convince me to take delivery anyway. I was told repeatedly "They're all like this" and was even shown on other waiting to be delivered cars. Unsatisfied, I ran home and compared to my Q4 2016 build MX to my Q4 2019 built MX. If all the new ones are like this then it's a problem. This is the gap between the glass pieces transitioning from the falcon wing door to the rear quarter.

How in the world does something like this get worse?

Word on the street for orders placed in Oct onwards is that Tesla has stopped production for the S and X, and isn't even STARTING again until DEC 15. From someone's advisor: "the latest news I've heard about this is that Tesla will officially begin to build all vehicles for the United States starting December 15th. There may be a chance they start sooner. You are one of my clients that ordered the earliest(10/5), you should definitely be getting your vehicle before EOY and eligible for the Federal Tax Credit."

That looks like a pretty big gap

"I assure you, Tesla has very strict quality controls."

I assured them that I just compared it to all of my Tesla's and it is by far the worst quality out of any car I've owned from Tesla. This car is definitely going back and quite frankly their attitude is concerning.

I placed mine in October - 2 days after you I think and received mine today as did several others in the thread. So your advisor is wrong.

I sure hope so!

That quality control is seriously disappointing! I'm sorry you're experiencing it! Is there anything else? Also, Did your order come with the new seats?

It did not come with the new seats. That was the worst of it, but there were others. It was a bit of a downward spiral. The more I found, the more I looked. The more I looked, the more I found and admittedly some of these can be easily overlooked.

Direct comparisons, Q4 2016 in black, Q4 2019 in white.

At this point I stopped comparing and just focused on the white one.

I get it, some of these are nitpicking. These will bug other people to varying degrees or not at all. But this is the big one, I don't know anyone who could walk by their car every day and not get annoyed at this.

UPDATE: First order was cancelled October 18 and I waited 24 hours before reordering same model and trim with a $100 deposit.
October 20 the $2500 was credited back to my CC.

No further word regarding a VIN or delivery date. Still looking at the existing inventory for a match.
Ordered October 20. VIN arrived today November 8th. No delivery date to Houston.

FYI, I was not notified by Tesla in an email regarding a delivery date. Just stumbled into it by looking at my account page and went to "Manage" and there it was on the right hand side.

Probably cause you're in Texas. In washington they told me that it takes few days from VIN to delivery so they would obviously notify me with call/message
