More likely to reduce cost.To think they are updating lights to encourage trade-ins is pretty silly
Maybe that’s because they are common to all MS, since the beginning of time?!That’s not the case with current tails

I just checked, newer Model Y tails that aren’t 100% compatible with pre-late 2020 Model Y, are also OTC without vinMore likely to reduce cost.

Man, the aero kit is going to be awesome but they're still not going as far as I'd want them to go. Not everyone likes a sleeper car and it already is one - if they're going to add something, they should go balls to the wall. I'd love a Plaid "RS"/"Black Series" model with the aggressive aero that those respective cars have, like a DTM racer. I'm talking:The appliqué-less hatch design has been in Tesla’s mind for a while. Here’s an S with a different hatch from May 2021. If this hatch is related to the new hatch, we can assume that the new lights will fit the old design, since they used the old lights in the newer hatch (obviously to not hurt demand due to a leak)
Also it’s possible that the new design will use a smaller appliqué to fit that new indented area, they just didn’t tape it on. Makes sense because that test car is using silver wheels, def not a production car
Now I don’t care who you are, or where you are, that is just plain out funny!I hear that the new tail lights shave 1/2 second off the quarter mile time and extend the range 50 miles. Lol. I need to upgrade the MSLR that I still have picked up yet already.
Just saw this render from Alwinart. Much needed, but I think he forgot to update the charge port design.

Trunk and lights. This looks much better. Doubt you can retrofit though, would need a new trunk. Or at least new aftermarket trunk applique .
Very nice. Almost certain we’ll see this before long. Looks much better. Is it a Plaid without a spoiler? I can’t read the badge because of your…ahem…self-described pictures.Spotted one out on public roads testing. Managed to snap some (shitty) pictures...

Yep, it was a plaid badge. Looks retrofittable? Since the bar is still there just body color.Very nice. Almost certain we’ll see this before long. Looks much better. Is it a Plaid without a spoiler? I can’t read the badge because of your…ahem…self-described pictures.
Don’t think so. The current bar goes into a “detent” in the current tail light housing.Yep, it was a plaid badge. Looks retrofittable? Since the bar is still there just body color.
True I see your pointDon’t think so. The current bar goes into a “detent” in the current tail light housing.
Appliqué is still there so we should be good for a retrofit. Unless they only make the new lights with a CCS connectorSpotted one out on public roads testing. Managed to snap some (shitty) pictures...

Looks like the same hatch without an Appliqué fitted. I think I can see the clip holes. Maybe they are still designing a shorter one? LolSpotted one out on public roads testing. Managed to snap some (shitty) pictures...
