Hi,
Got a VIN today! I live in Rochester NY. Talked to Tesla, they had me down for pick up in Pittsburgh NY. Maybe I selected that as closest dealer when S shopping a while back? Toronto is closest, then CLE, then Pittsburgh, then NYC/Mt. Kisco.
I explained that I'd read that if I pick up in Mt Kisco my state rebate goes from $500 to $2000. Tesla rep says "oh, hmmmm, NY, right ok then we need to get you a new / maybe different VIN, this might delay things". Weird. She also said they only do home deliveries in Rhode Island (and one other state) because they don't have a license there.
I was under the impression that home delivery was an option.
Home Delivery | Tesla
Does anyone know if this has been discontinued?
Other NY residents that live far from NYC, how did you take delivery?
Thanks.
So apparently the VIN i got was routed to Pittsburg PA instead of Mt Kisco. After I confirmed an in store delivery, I lost my VIN and am now waiting for a new one. I hope it doesn't take too long, it's already been a few days
Also I was offered a car rental and 1-night hotel (up to $250) stay for the delivery.
I've been checking using all the new methods, still no VIN. I think your case is the one that I saw before it happened to me, so I wasn't too surprised but had hoped it wouldn't happen anywaySame thing happened to me re Pittsburgh. It was only 1 day lag for new VIN fortunately. You might have a new one already but with the updated / delayed visibility to VIN thing, maybe you can't see it.
I'm driving down to Mt Kisco tonight, delivery tomorrow.
More like once the politicians start rolling around in their Ss and Xs things will change.WNY, where our politicians protect us from dangerous things like like Tesla dealerships, ride-sharing and cryptocurrency exchanges.
Optimistically the dealership proximity issue will be resolved within the next year or so, I know they are working on Albany diligently and once we all start rolling around in 3s the pressure will increase. Fingers crossed they start with Rochester, sorta-central to Buf & Syr.
I'm not sure about Mt. Kisco requirement for service. A friend of mine with an S would use Cleveland or Pittsburgh (about 50-60 miles closer). He bought the S used but under warranty and Telsa would support him with pick-up/drop-off and rental. However his warranty recently expired, he had a problem, and had to battle hard with them for the previously provided logistical support. Given that, he chose to sell it last month.
Wondering for those of you that have gone this route, does your choice of home delivery vs. a center come up once you get a VIN and rep assigned? I completed my order recently (was waiting on AWD), and when I entered my zip code (Canandaigua), it just automatically said - we'll set you up for home delivery. I work for a company where if there's a seat available, you can ride the corp jet for free which makes a trip down to NYC 3x a week, so planning to head down there for delivery when the time rolls around and make the roadtrip home - but just wondering if that's something that comes up later, or as they ramp up volume, is this something we're getting less of a choice around?
I believe you can take home delivery without losing the $2,000. I elected to pick mine up in person so I could get it a little earlier, and because I was told by my delivery specialist that they use a third party trucking company for home deliveries, and once its on the truck any damage is the moving companies responsibility. I didn't want to take the risk of two companies finger pointing at each other if there was damage to the car when it arrived.
I am from Rochester (Webster ) too. Just got a called from Delivery advisor asking if I can pick up M3 from Pittsburgh store on 28th, I asked about what does it mean for $2000 NY rebate, she had no answer and said someone else will call with an answer...and for further scheduling. Does this happen to you as well? Is it true if we pick up in PA, we don't get NY rebate or still eligible if registering in NY?From Rochester here. PIcking up in Mt. Kisco on 9-28-18.
