It's been reported that Edison's permits were pulled and the Edison supercharger has been completely canceled (per the contractors at Hamilton). Explains why we've seen no progress there. I'm kinda happy about that anyway because that was VERY bad location for a supercharger. It took me almost an hour to get from NJT to Menlo Park Mall and back just due to heavy traffic. So that would not have made an ideal location for "quickly stopping for a supercharge".

That Edison site is a pretty bad location and the parking lot is like the surface of the moon.

I think I may have misunderstood , am being told that Edison is still a "go" but probably being done by a different contractor.

Yeah the manager at Short Hills confirmed on the 20th that Edison is still a go. It also seems to be on the supercharger map still.

It doesn't look that bad.

Yea it doesn't "LOOK" bad from looking at a map, but I can tell you first hand that is a hell of an awful place for it. I stopped by one day after work and it took me 30 minutes to get there and another 30 minutes to get back to the NJT just because it's that heavy of a trafficked area. Trust me, nobody's going to be stopping here if they don't have to. They'll do it once and then make sure to never do it again haha.

It was probably chosen by the same brilliant number cruncher out in CA that picked the location of the Queens service center by looking at a map without realizing that it's in a very shady neighborhood that I would never go back to again and certainly wouldn't want any of my family members driving around. Plus the fact there's no parking there (MS even illegally parked on the sidewalks) and it takes 2 hours to drive 1.5 miles to get there. Oh and obviously impossible to test drive any of the cars after their done working on them. Well, unless their ok for billing 2 hours at $150/hour labor for a 1.5 mile ride to check for squeaks and rattles lol and they wouldn't be able to drive faster than 5mph either so I'd love to know how they test for the "drive hum" > 65mph. Aka impossible to test for that there at that service center :p

Ed, the guy who took the video is very active in green tech here in NJ. He does know quite a bit and has some great videos. I do not think he is active here, He has a Volt and A BMW i3 I think.

The picture of the first house is the Governors mansion in NJ however, CC does not live in it. He does live in the second picture in Mendham township.

Take a drive over there and look for yourself, it's bad and the traffic in and out sucks.

Put it on the lift?

Can't be any worse than Route-22 next to the Tesla Service Center. Though it is true, I usually avoid that part of Route-1 by taking the turnpike down to Route-18 and catching Route-1 from there.

Are there any other avenues to suggest locations in NJ besides what we have already done via Tesla website feedback? I've also discussed w/ employees at Short Hill Mall, but not sure how far that info is carried. Those 2 locations we previously referred to in S. Jersey, especially Sicklerville/exit 41 off A.C. Expressway North & South - Great place w/ restaurants, coffee house and shopping, literally at the top of exit/entry ramps, would take 30 seconds to get on & off highway into plaza. Plus these locations in S. Jersey are key areas for PA and NY traffic going to the Jersey shore. This would eliminate any range anxiety if folks knew they could get some juice on the way down or back from the shore. Who wants to worry about charging spots when in the casinos, hotels or jersey beaches.

Hi, just a quick note of your concerns of how bad this Edison Locale is, problem is the rt 1 corridor and how U can take a few shortcuts that are out of the way by mile or so but cut off at least 1/2 hour in traffic and aggravation going tot he site, best bet if U use NJT and GSP to site, get off at exit 11 WOODBRIDGE( FORDS) and use Country rd 501 right to AMBOY AVE Edison, then go onto rt 1 north just past the Liquor Store (vincz's) and you are within 3/4 mile of the Menlo Mall Overpass on 1 north where you zip over and VOILA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In the lot and ready to charge up!!!! Exit 11/GSP Exit 129 is the NEXXUS of the road universe here in NJ all roads lead to and from it, but IMHO STAY OFF RT 1 between Elizabeth and Princeton and U will have no probs getting to site ........................

here's a link to the CR501 map and as U become more frequent to the area it will be easy-peasy to get to.....................

still working on the units as of this morning too!!!!

I went to the opening of the Paramus Tesla facility on Rt. 17 a few days ago. I asked a Tesla guy there if there are plans to add a Supercharger in South Jersey. He said that the next one will probably be in the Princeton area. It wasn't clear if he knew or if he was speculating. Princeton is 67 miles from Hamilton (where there is already a Supercharging station).

BTW, there is a Supercharger in Menlo Park, NJ, where Edison, "The Wizard of Menlo Park," had his lab, Thomas Edison - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. Good thinking, Tesla! A Supercharger at the New Yorker Hotel on 34th St. and 8th Ave., in NYC would be another good place - for sentimental reasons. Nicola Tesla spent his final years at this hotel. Agreed. Would love to see one at the junction of the GSP and AC Expwy.

It looks like one may land there in 2015.

Tesla's supercharger page was recently updated, and appears to show something near AC for 2015. Or you can see it as part of the GIF here:

(I guess it's possible they could stick it in the airport as well...?)

May be a good year for locals to scout around for activity...

That S Jersey dot looks to be around the GSP/AC Expressway junction, which would satisfy the N Jersey/NY crowd, as well as the PA travellers. Awesome. And since this would alleviate my range anxiety for the 200 mile r/t commute, this is a deal-maker for me!

PAGING YOBIGD!!! - Looks like someone at Tesla was listening afterall
