Elon gives me Cat Quest but no Energy app?

On the bright side, I've figured out how to get along without the graphs. I give the voice command "show trips" every once in a while to figure out how consumption is going (especially looking at mileage for this charge and overall) and use the mileage-remaining estimate at the bottom of the...

Elon gives me Cat Quest but no Energy app?

Dang. My car musta been reading this thread. It realized it was behind the times and updated to 2022.20.6 last night. No more energy graph. I can get long without it, but we do miss the trip version of the graph (where it lays actual consumption on top of the projection made by the route...

    2021 / 2022 Refresh Windshield Wiper Replacements

Here's the comparison shot between the OEM wiper-mount and the one that is on the 27 x 20" pair. It fits and I'm pretty sure they'd work, but they're not the exact match that the 26 x 21" ones have.

    2021 / 2022 Refresh Windshield Wiper Replacements

I've had a look at both flavors now and I'm going with Daniel's recommendation. The other ones fit but the attachment isn't the exact perfect OEM match that Daniel's 26"/21" pair is. So my vote goes to part number 3397007638 for those of us who are replacing refreshed Model S wiper blades.

Elon gives me Cat Quest but no Energy app?

First off, thanks for the tip. I just tried it in my weeks-old Plaid and the magic-word "energy!" does the trick. I hypermile pretty much all the time and I've used that app full time in two previous Model S's to train myself and keep an eye on conditions. I noticed that y'all are talking...

    2021 / 2022 Refresh Windshield Wiper Replacements

Interesting. There's two "close by not quite" options. The ones Daniel (sorry for the misspelling) found: 26" and 21" with 16mm top lock, passenger side is one inch longer than OEM -- part number 3397007638. But there's also a pair that's the reverse: 27" and 20" with the 16mm top lock...

    2021 / 2022 Refresh Windshield Wiper Replacements

Egad! You're right! I was just looking at the blades and not the mount. I just checked. The ones I listed (3397007088) DO NOT fit. The mount is just a tad too wide (3 mm to be precise). Thanks Danial.

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Here's the final outcome. Kaitlin, my hero at the Minneapolis service center, flogged the car through some pretty goofy trucking/logistics hassles and we slid that Plaid into Quarter 2, just under the wire on the afternoon of June 30th. Way to go and kudos to the whole crew who yanked the car...

    2021 / 2022 Refresh Windshield Wiper Replacements

Thanks for this thread. The AeroTwin blades are also a perfect fit for my 2022 Model S Plaid. It's a slightly different part number for the Model S -- 3397007088. I had some ICONs left on the shelf that fit my 2019 Model S -- they did NOT fit the 2022, that's why I'm here. Interestingly...

My first one was a beautiful dark dark blue. I spent 4 years obsessing about keeping it clean and not getting swirls in the paint... The white ones go for months without getting washed. Not as pretty, but better for my obsessive mental health. ;-)

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Ah. I just got the "you still gonna take delivery?" call so, (thanks to y'all) i asked about that. This car was built June 6th and found itself in Cleveland. I asked if somebody had declined it. The rep looked in the Secret Places and said "nope, you're the first and there are no...

How many people put boring 19" wheels and boring white paint on a Plaid order. ;-) I'm going for mileage -- rated at 396 in that config (I'm sure the white paint will improve the mileage). The June-Aug delivery target put me over the top. "Gosh dear, this car sure is peppy" is a nice to have...

    Cybertruck in sub. -30C temperatures

-30 is just plain miserable and cars/trucks feel the same way. That said, it's a lot easier to start my Tesla than it is to start the diesel tractors in the morning. Range takes a hit and at -30 I'd probably count on about 50% when doing travel planning if starting from dead cold. The...

Favorite options? I want a snowplow and a winch.

Yep -- that's the big problem with my smallest plowing option (Ranger EV with a blade) -- too light. Seems like the perfect spot -- and terrific if Tesla added it to the AC outlets and air-compressor already on board. But an aftermarket winch would be OK too.
  18. OConnorStP

Favorite options? I want a snowplow and a winch.

Pickup trucks are all about the stuff you'd be wanting to add. Me, I want a snowplow and a winch in the worst way. I have 3 options for clearing my road. This is a picture of the only one the Cybertruck *couldn't* replace. Instant start, heated cab. Get on it you peepul.

Raven "Rated" Watts Per Mile and Real World Experience

Interesting how many of us P85D folks are here in this thread. Here's my P85D (ludicrous upgrade) lifetime, just before trading it in on the Raven Performance (new rules, so Ludicrous included). I'm having a similar experience over my "familiar" drives -- it seems easy to get as-good or better...

A thread for people with no problems

P85D/Ludicrous -- mine was in the first batch to come out after the dreaded "seats" fiasco in the initial production run of the P85D. Early 2015. Daily driver. No problems at all after 30k miles. Lifetime watt-hours/mile is sitting at 294, in Western Wisconsin, where we know how to winter.

    Supercharger - Bend, OR

Thanks! Those trips seem pretty comparable to a run from Bend. How much remaining-charge are you anticipating when you get to Baker City?
  26. OConnorStP

    Supercharger - Bend, OR

What do you locals think -- can I make it from the Baker City supercharger to this new one? Planning a trip to Bend in late summer and that would rock my world. I've got a P85D and am comfortable driving pretty slow if needed.

    Help with SolarCity Powerguide

I think that may just be a configuration error on their current-monitoring setup. I've got several eGauges spread across three boxes here at the farm and it took my about five million runs at configuring it before it was right. A lot of my graphs looked like this one along the way. Have you...

    Tesla moments

Was at a high-performance toys store yesterday, buying a Polaris EV ATV for the farm. I gave the salesguy a ride and the store owner walks by, so he gets roped into the ride as well. We're both 65 year old geezer types. Drive out on the service road and I go "wait! there's this new Launch...

    Winter Driving

I'm still trying to puzzle out the defrosting although I seem to have the hang of it now. My car seems to vary between normal-cold weather and crazy-Wisconsin-COLD weather (-30, which is the same whether you're doing Centigrade or Fahrenheit). In normal-cold (20F/-7C) the car seems to like a...

    Solar Powers My Model S

Most of the time the snow slides off fine. but we've had a bunch of storms where the first part is freezing rain and that's tougher. I've found that one of those snow rakes, plus the brush attachment, is invaluable.

    Solar Powers My Model S

My setup is 21kw, 14kw in front of the house and 7kw on the garage. We build up a big surplus in the summer and consume it in the winter. This year we peaked at about 4900 KWhours surplus a month or so ago and we've started nibbling away at it as the heating season kicks in and the days get...

How (and when) does AutoPilot data get uploaded?

Hello from cell-phone hell. I'm curious -- does autopilot data get uploaded in real time, or does it wait until back at the ranch when it can use WiFi? I'm hoping the latter.

    Autopilot test on curvy road

Agree - winding roads are white-knuckle driving for now I (of course) ignored Tesla's admonition that auto-pilot is only for use on center-divided highways and tried it on a winding 2-lane road here in rural Wisconsin. Hands on the wheel, per instructions. 1st-encounter -- of course I was...

Why does my 50 amp breaker (fuse) trip with NEMA 14-50?

I had a similar problem where the main (100 amp) breaker in the box tripped. 17356 iterations of flipping that breaker on and off cleared off the crud and corrosion that had probably accumulated over the years and it's been smooth sailing since then. Seriously... exercise the breaker a little...

Video: what's causing this?? Emergency braking? Collision avoidance?

Here's a very short Youtube video showing a couple of instances where the car rapidly slows down to avoid a vehicle that is moving away from us and happens after the car in front has left our lane. In one case there was a person tailgating us and we scared the heck out of them. This is not an...

Hi all you moderators -- feel free to drop this post into the appropriate thread. I couldn't find it, but I'm happy to have this moved to the right place. I'm one of the folks who bailed out on the X and bought a P85D instead. One of the reasons was because it looked like the X wasn't going...

P85D on my muddy driveway - testing polarizing film on a cheap dash-cam

I got some snow earlier in the week, conducted unreasonable tests (some of which failed), and posted the video just now. I'm running all-season tires on 19 inch rims and managed to find a spot where I could spin the wheels. I was reminded that there's the "slip start" gizmo, which I completely...

P85D on the "snowy" version of my driveway -- Failed a "start on steep hill" attempt

Dang. I didn't think to try it. Although my understanding was that it was more for those times when you want to force the car to spin its wheels a little bit -- overcoming the traction-control tendency to prevent wheelspin. This was the opposite -- I didn't want it to spin its wheels and even...

P85D on the "snowy" version of my driveway -- Failed a "start on steep hill" attempt

This is another video of the new Tesla P85D on our driveway. Conditions are now deliciously bad -- about 6 inches of new wet spring snow on top of the spring-thaw mud (see previous video). The car did a good (boring) job of getting through it, so I added a "start up on steep hill" attempt, which...

    Boy Racer Encounter

I'm 65, complete with white hair and geeky coke-bottle glasses. I've put about 400 miles on the P85D and that happened to me on the freeway too. Except the guy in the left lane was a girl, her car was a complete beater, and she didn't pull forward after the "invitation" -- she just sat in...
