    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

I gave new text messaging a test and when it works, it works great, but it's most certainly beta there are some bugs. I had it in a state where you couldn't do what you were supposed to at least a couple of times. But this is the first new major feature in a while, getting that Tesla new car...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

Barry I hear you, but I gotta say this one technically adds some features for us, and so far, it *seems* more stable, so maybe it's an "upgrade" after all... I had quite a bit of use of my Model S today and didn't experience a single browser lock-up, and I even turned on the traffic display...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

Well well, 2020.4.1 is now up and running in my 70D and I can't say, so far, that it's worse in any way... it even seems more stable in my short drive so far. The better voice control seems to be functioning, but with the same activation / deactivation glitches that have been there since the...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

So ... you simply don't use the two most damaged features ... I've gotta wonder, was it by choice ? I barely use voice too because it triggers unreliably with my MCU1 and OG 3G and I can't rely on the browser anymore because it is so unreliable and is guaranteed to crash eventually. When I had...

    Questions about Software limited batteries

I always kinda envied the locked battery for this "feature" it was a neat offering, my 70 is also a product of the pre-Model 3 experimentation and I feel lucky for it. Hopefully locked battery doesn't make for bad habits down the road though.. for me, remembering to not charge 90%+ unless I'm...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

Ugh.. you guys are upgrading eh.. I do like new features and all, but I'm really worried they still think we're all just swell on our every-destination-erased, all-the-Trip-computers-reset, and rebooting-every-few-hours-to-get-browser-back (hopefully) MCU1, and adding new features could only...

    Supercharger - Brockville, ON

@ sakimano :D thus my addition of "probably" ;) I was strictly talking of the volume of vehicles from Toronto to Montreal, never mind travel further East and West. pray for us all lol My guess is now we're now going to get a 20+ stall super Supercharger .. V3 .. probably wide open to make it...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

I've also stopped using Scheduled Departure. I've gone back to manually dragging the charge level, charging to around 75% overnight then trying to top up in the AM (then remembering to reduce the charge level back down because my MAX CHARGE NOW idea has gone nowhere). I use a combo of cabin...

    Supercharger - Brockville, ON

well at least they updated it (well all of the sites) to say hoping to finish in 2020 now... this is really starting to negatively impact my plans on a regular basis. It's probably the most important Supercharger needed for Canada.

Voice commands do not work in 40.50.5

Finally, someone else reporting what I've been reporting for months in various places here.. thank you. There are bugs still in the "tap and talk" code that replaced the "press and hold to talk" code. They seem to be exposed when the voice command routine times-out for whatever reason (and...

Progressive rating for MS: no blind spot warning

Hmm, I'd ask them for their definition of "blind spot detection" and then work to prove that your Model S does indeed meet the requirements. I'm pretty sure even when not activated (and even AP1) it will throw a collision warning should it reliably sense an obstruction (even with just the...

    "Hard" reboot... nonsense, right?

Interesting thread resuscitation here.. I've got some more of my own personal experience to report: 1) this year I did perform a factory reset on my Model S, and not only do I suspect it doesn't do any sort of secure wipe of the drive, but it actually leaves some personal data on the system...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

hmm, on the high voltage adjustments, so far in my 70D I've only noticed that regen seems to have returned to around the levels before they made them improved... ? AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

Hmm.. my 70D in Toronto has so far not been offered 2019.40.2.1 after installing 2019.40.2 .. and I can continue to report the browser for me is same as it was on previous firmware... I did find the charge-to-time setting .. on the Charging screen. Good to get something us cold climes have...

    Supercharger - Brockville, ON

A T.O. to Montreal weekend away in my 70D would be in the cards for me if Brockville SC was confirmed up and running. Instead I am remembering my last cold weather trip without it.. so I'll likely not bother (at least not by car).. sigh. A bientot, Montreal. Well... at least we now can plan...

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

hmm well 2019.40.2 seems to have improved nothing in my car: the browser was dead upon the 1st reboot (I always try to reboot everything after a firmware update) so that's as before, hit and miss (next reboot brought it back but it was just as laggy as before). The "What's New" alert box on my...

50 hp software upgrade coming for Model S

So if I'm reading the thread right to-date, it seems that we've yet to confirm whether older cars (and which, if any) are going to get the new one-pedal thing, and a performance boost. Only the Raven owners have received these so far... right ? If so I'm not holding my breath anymore, instead...

    V10 on MCU1

I've been able to have an operating browser most of the time now on V10, but my mission to get it back started with a factory reset on V9 (it actually worked)... but I've noticed something that could be helpful to others: After a fresh boot if the "cannot load page" (or whatever the error page...

    Key Fob Issues

Strange twist to this old thread.. my walk-up feature has slowly been disappearing, neither fob works anymore. The car's receiver must be the culprit ? It was interesting to see it slowly degrade over time, as if the fob battery was to blame but a battery change doesn't improve it.

    2014 Model S update

I feel in many ways like OP Charlotte, and gotta agree with Patrick in that it's good to remind myself that this futuristic EV is still way in the future, as an actual vehicle, despite having an old obsolete iPAD glued to its insides  But losing the browser was critical for me as I...

So I just found out about Petro Canada's fast charging network... EV Fast Charge car charging stations They are building it out across Canada, and Napanee is already done they say... and energy is free for a while.. but it only has CHADeMO or CSS. I'm hoping there's a new CSS adapter...

    MCU2 - Retrofit

The big features for V10 so far are what, Netflix, Youtube, and audio and video now available in the browser.. all from what I understand are only available when the car is in Park. So frankly, I'm not sure where the issue would be for providing these to MCU1 as well. It's when the car is in...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

From where I stand, upgrading the entire car to replace the "car stereo" is not something anyone should EVER be asked to do. And from a tech standpoint, if the "carputer" gets upgraded, every good nerd should want it.. without replacing the whole car. I'm not even sure why this is something...

MCU1 performance improvement & browser improvement. Simple trick by Thomas The Tesla Tuner..

In an ironic twist, the music favourites didn't even clear when I performed the Factory Reset -- they're back somehow. But just TuneIn stations, Slacker is totally broken now, I have to email Tesla. Sigh.

MCU1 performance improvement & browser improvement. Simple trick by Thomas The Tesla Tuner..

Well I went and did it.. a Factory Reset. And lo and behold, the browser has returned to its "barely functional" state (still barely working after a reboot too). So in summary.. Trip A/B reset - nothing. Destination list clearing - nothing. Factory reset - yes, back to the "barely working"...

MCU1 performance improvement & browser improvement. Simple trick by Thomas The Tesla Tuner..

Here's my report on this matter for MCU1.. I'm worried things are getting grave for us as browser has been down for weeks now. The old trick of turning off the traffic display seems to not have much or any effect anymore, and seemed due to a bug. Loading the whiteboard to blank-out the map...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

I sure wish Elon and Co. would stop using the car's firmware as a Marketing device, particularly when there is so much that still needs to get up to speed... Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

There are 2 main thoughts for me... 1. My MCU1 can just no longer keep up. A big feature of the car for me was the Browser but it's not working reliably anymore (works for ~20 minutes every ~10th reboot). Streaming audio stutters at times. Voice control works randomly. 2. As a tech...

Eliminate limited regen - improving cold weather driving

There's a "superbottle" in the Model 3 that's being called revolutionary in the auto industry: Tesla 'Superbottle' proves that the Model 3's disruption lies in its vertical integration What a wonderful "clean sheet" approach to needing different flow rates and even temperatures for different...

Tesla infotainment system upgradeable from MCU1 to MCU2

I just asked how much for the MCU2 + LTE upgrade. If it's not overly excessive a quote it seems like something someone like me is just supposed to try and get done :p so much easier than an entirely new car. Anyone who has built their own PCs back in the day (I'm assuming Elon himself...

MCU1 browser on 2019.82.2 (and above ?) no longer responds. BSOD

Ya, I just say "reboot" (no need to hold them down until the logo appears or to hold down the brake as some will tell you). I also reboot the IC with the top buttons now and then (and esp. when there's an issue). 2019.28.2 it is then  thx Ok so an update.. I cleared both my Trip A...

    Winter tire recommendations

Ya I was shocked at how low the tread was when I pulled them off after their 2nd year. I'll likely put them on again for the coming Toronto winter for one last go, as we usually don't get hit by major storms, just for the improved control in slick and icy conditions, but that would be it. I...

    Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

Actually, I do have one new feature request for all Model S and all Tesla vehicles: Add a "Start Max Charge Now" button to the app and car UI that would instantly initiate charging to 100%, restoring your level to where it was set after unplugging. Who else has forgotten to reduce the max...

    AP1/MCU1 and Software V10

I'm very happy with my 70D overall but I must agree that the UI issues are not getting better. The trend has been in the opposite direction. I'm not excited about arcade games and video playback in my car, not even sure I'd care if I had a brand new Model 3 (owning a Model 3 seems to me to...

Model S blinking Morse code with headlights when parked?

Based on the reports here, it seems it is only happening with the new fascia and LED headlights. Model S Software/Firmware wishlist

So the recent consensus seems to be that the Model S user interface wish list is: a stable release please ! I bought a car with a browser, but it's only showing a white screen this week (and before that it would slowly die until reboot). It's totally dead now (I placed a service call this...

    AP1 ONLY Please -- life after 2018.50.6

On a road trip last month I could swear I saw 130 or even 135 for a while ! Great to see some things still getting better 4+ years later. Seems the classic 70 packs are keepers (we also don't have to worry about the total amount of DC fast charging from what I've read).

I only wish mine were as predictable, it can be confused time after time after time, or even ignore my 2nd tap to stop listening. Seems to me either the tap-on, tap-off code (we used to hold the button to talk) still has bugs rearing their heads in some circumstances (eg. leaving a flag open...
