Powerwall wifi and Liftmaster MyQ question

Got a new garage door opener recently with wifi and MyQ functionality (Liftmaster 8500W). Problem is it keeps dropping the connection to my home wifi every week or so, requiring me to set things up from scratch each time to restore MyQ functionality. I have set up an additional wifi access...

2015 85D post warranty: help me rank wk057 options

My factory 8 yr battery/DU warranty will be up in Aug 2023 and I am researching my options as I would like to keep the car as long as it is practical to do so. From what I gather, these are some options I have as they pertain to the battery: 1. everything has been fine on original battery, just...

Max rebate from SCE at true-up?

With two months to go until true-up, it looks like this will be my first year since 2015 being a net producer under current NEM rules. As I understand, this means I should be getting a check from SCE if my year-to-date energy charges are negative, correct? If so, just wondering how much people...

OCPA/CCE -- opt out or stay with SCE? (HB, Irvine, Fullerton, Buena Park only)

Those of us who live in Huntington Beach, Irvine, Fullerton, or Buena Park will be defaulted into a new CCE through the newly formed OC Power Authority later this year, unless we opt out and choose to stay with SCE. The OCPA energy rates have not yet been made public, but my understanding is...

Is anyone who was approved for a refund check from Tesla still waiting for the check to arrive? I got the approval email on 6/1 and still no check or email update. Original email as follows: "This notice is to inform you that, after review of your request for reimbursement under Tesla’s...

    CA residents: AB 1139 discussion

I am starting to see more headlines and social media chatter regarding AB 1139 and was hoping to get some more info and thoughts on the matter from the community here. From what I am reading, it seems like a bill written completely in favor of the utilities to the detriment of current and...

    Destination charging etiquette: non-Tesla vehicles

Our home fleet now includes a new Pacifica Hybrid PHEV which will serve as our family road trip vehicle. We have an upcoming trip to places that have Tesla destination chargers, and my question was regarding use etiquette when plugging in to these chargers with a non-Tesla vehicle using an...

Recurrent hourlong monitoring outages in Tesla app

Wondering if anyone else has this issue where the monitoring cuts out for a period of time before the problem spontaneously resolves itself. I'm getting this every couple days or so but not sure why it is happening. My guess is the wifi connection is to blame but the rest of the house is fine...

    SCE generation cap exceeded?

My additional panels went online this past month and I got this message on this month's bill. Was expecting a lot more generation credit but looks like I got capped, which has never happened before. Has anyone had this happen? I'm still a net consumer, just entirely during super off peak hours.

Any way to set Tesla app to Self powered from 8am-noon and TBC-cost saving rest of time?

...other than doing it manually every day, that is? I cannot find another way to get the exact behavior I want out of the Powerwalls: TBC-cost saving from 2pm-8am with peak 2pm-8pm Use solar to power home and recharge Powerwalls from 8am-2pm, with excess sent to grid Zero grid use between...

Sanding down front splitter on pre-refresh bumper?

Has anyone with a pre-refresh Model S tried sanding down the black front splitter on the bottom of the front bumper to smooth out small divots and scratches? Or using some other method that does the same thing? Would love some advice or feedback on best practice.

SCE NEM 1.0 grandfathering when adding more panels?

My original PV system dates back to 11/2015. I have been on NEM 1.0 and TOU-D-A since that time. 2/2020: added 2 Powerwalls, remained on NEM 1.0 + TOU-D-A 2/2021: added 15 more solar panels and 1 Powerwall; currently in PTO process My question is, would I be able to keep NEM 1.0 once I receive...

Tesla app showing zero home consumption after solar upgrade

Had additional panels wired in to my existing system yesterday and they went online without issue. City inspectors came this morning and gave their blessing. However, since the new panels went online the app has started showing the home consumption dropping to zero for extended periods of time...

    (335W x20 panels) + (340W x15 panels) = 11.8 kW system?

Sorry for the dumb question, just something I never bothered to ask. Are there any conversion factors involved in calculating the total size of the PV system? Or do you just add up all the panels and their capacities?

    Quiet Cool questions

Didn't want to hijack another thread that brought up the Quiet Cool whole house fan so I thought I would start a new one. From what I understand, you wouldn't use them when outside air is undesirable (allergens, smoke, excessive pollutants). Under decent air quality conditions, would they make...

Is 400 amp service necessary for 3 Powerwall system?

Currently have 20 panels (Sunpower 335) and 2 Powerwalls with 2 Level 2 chargers on a 200 amp box. Am getting quotes to add 15 more panels and 1 more Powerwall. One installer is telling me I will need to upgrade to a 400 amp box to do this. Is this true? Would add > $3000 to the project to do so.

CA solar/PW folks: what HVAC unit would you purchase today?

Currently have a single stage Carrier 13 SEER unit that is...okay. Has broken down three times in six years so far but no major $$$ repairs needed along the way. With the current heat wave, I can run the Carrier unit off-grid but not for more than 8-10 hours before draining the two Powerwalls...

Good all-around 20" tire with best tread life?

Cross posting from the Model S forum to get more input (hopefully). Researching 20" tires available with the following characteristics: 1. good tread life (at least 25000 real life miles per set) 2. decent highway performance, doesn't have to be a track star Thought I had it narrowed down to...

Front axle squeaking & bushing replacement question

I also have front axle squeaking but thought I would create a separate thread since mine is a coil suspension 2015 85D (and not SAS like the other posters). At close to 100k miles, was thinking about having the front suspension control arm bushings replaced anyway. Just a few questions for the...

Any 19" forged / lightweight wheel pics and recommendations?

Closing in on 100k miles with my 2015 85D and considering a functional upgrade in the form of lighter, stronger wheels. Preferably able to take OEM tire size. Loved the Titan7 TR10 design but they aren't making them for the Model S. Most searches only turn up 20" and 21" options -- anyone here...

Daily manual reserve % adjustment possible?

Hi all, Waiting patiently for my PW's to come in and had a quick question. Would it be possible to do the following? 1. Set reserve % high initially (90-100% or so) to charge up PW 2. Manually lower reserve % during peak hours so that PW supplies all home needs while all solar production goes...

Looking for straight answer on ITC and charging from grid

Hi all, I'm having a tough time getting a straight answer to the following question: If a residential Powerwall user charges from the grid at all (even just once, perhaps because Stormwatch kicked in automatically or inadvertently), does that disqualify that user from claiming the 30% ITC? Possible to schedule *just* a drivetrain/fluids inspection at SvC?

I am a conservative fellow and would usually not debate issues of preventive maintenance, but after trying to schedule my 3rd annual service and finding out it really amounts to $475 for new wiper blades, new key fob battery, and an inspection, I'm having a hard time justifying it. I have the...

New HOV sticker spotted in CA...discuss

Thoughts: Michelin Primacy vs Pilot Sport A/S 3+

NOTE: I am asking about the A/S 3+ (PLUS) which replaces the A/S 3. I'm down to 3/32 tread depth at 33,000 miles and will be needing replacement of the OEM Primacy tires soon. New Primacy set costs $80 more than the A/S 3+ set, so cost not a huge difference. Factors: 85D with 19" square setup...
