I know of at least one owner with a 40 that he plans to trade up with Tesla. I really want to get a test drive but no luck yet.but I wonder how many 40's are out in the wild with owners refusing to take the 60kwh upgrade path ?!?

I've seen all these numbers reported for ICE cars. 0-60, rolling start (5-60) are done starting in low gear for a manual. Most of the passing acceleration tests (30-50, 50-70) are done in cruise gear, giving slushboxes a better number than manuals, since they will downshift whereas the manual drivers don't (for test purposes, if not really life). This may be a silly question, but for comparable times with an ICE car, do they cruise at rolling speeds (as in the 30-50mph test), and then punch it? Or do they just extract the number from a 0-60 run? Or do they put the car in the lowest gear that they can before the test? I ask because the single gear advantage of the Model S could be even greater...
