Here is the install of my front sensors. Hard to see but I guess that is the point.

I ran the wires through a grommet in the firewall on the passenger side near the hinge (hardest part). The radar head is behind the bumper.

do you have any pics you can share with the grommet in the dash and the wiring through - I'm curious how long the wire had to be to feed from the cabin to the bumper as well as the path. I've been looking for a way to power my Lighted T.

I dont have a pic of mine, but if you watch the Munro Tesla Plaid video, they have the car mostly taken apart and you can see the grommet. The video is the best source as it shows both sides. See link below and screen shot. In the screen shot, you see a large hole in the firewall and just above and to the left you see the grommet with the wire harness still going through it. That is the one I used. It is a pain to get to. The is a similar one on the driver side, but that was even harder to get to.

Bummer was hoping for easier access. Seems like you basically have to disassemble the dash/remove the dash to access the grommet based on the images/video

You just have to take the bottom of the dash off (kick panel) which is not that hard. Careful with the airbag as the wires are short (i didnt try to disconnect it). The harder part is accessing the grommet from the frunk side.

I was wondering about this one. Did you meter out the voltage on that yellow wire? Was it 15.6V like the rest? Debating hooking up the xkglow 12V to 5V converter to it, maybe i'll pull apart tomorrow night and see what that voltage is and see if the converter at ~16V will work OK. There's enough room in there I can hide all the controllers for the lights behind the charging pad.
Sorry I don't have a meter reader. I used just the light bulb thing that tells me there is power or not.

Looking for clarification on where the 12V cig lighter wire bundle and plug is? The FB video is not working, in one picture it looks like the carpet is pulled out but in this picture below it looks like the center console is on top of the carpet.

two questions:

1. In what general area using the numbers is the white plug located?
2. Can you clarify what needs to be pulled away to get access to the plug, the center console only on the passenger side or the carpet or both?

thanks

3-4 area. I just pulled back the carpet if I remember correctly. Didn't want to pop off too many panels.

Will be doing it again soon and will clarify.

What happens if I trip an efuse? How does it get reset? I was tapping into the green and black wires in the rear view mirror assembly and they accidentally touched and now no power.
Do you get an error message? Some eFuses reset on their own if the overload is gone. For example, the 12v accessory outlet should reset after 90 minutes. Others may require Tesla to reset. I saw one post where disconnection of the 12v battery did the trick, but I'm reluctant to try that yet as I also have an eFuse that tripped due to a 2 amp load I was testing. I sent in a service request, as I'm hoping it can be reset remotely. I can confirm a reboot and/or power-down does not clear the eFuse.

Takes a sleep cycle for the reset to happen. Could be 10 min could be several hours. Not sure how long. But I do know it's triggered by the sleep cycle.

Well.. I tried the OBD adapter route, wasn't a huge fan of it... so went with a partial of Rambino's method. I used a mirror tap kit with different size taps in the kit and used the green and black wires behind the rearview.. no splicing though, that's the nice part of the mirror tap kit. Seem to be working just fine... my escort 360c is reporting 15.6 volts... and the downside is its always on, but auto turns off after 1 hour of inactivity, and the screen is set to blank out after 30 minutes (because its oled)...
Tekie99,

In the past I have always preferred tapping for 12v at the mirror with purchased or homemade pin connectors. Has it been working to your satisfaction? Anyone else have success at the mirror?

The other approach looks like either at (or along the center console) or at the left foot well OBD port. Anyone care to sway me one way or another?

Yes, I tapped the mirror and it's working

If you like pin taps. Best place would be the wireless charging pad pins. Easy to get to and remove those pins to tap. Connector looks pretty simple to open. It's a larger guage wire as well so easy to tap the wire. I personally cut a portion of the insulation off and tapped with a solder connection.

Perhaps the wireless charger pad area would be easier to get to but the wire run is much longer. Does anyone know how difficult it is to open up the mirror cover(s) to get access to the green and black wire?

I ran the wire up from the console to the mirror area for my Blackvue. It was very easy to tuck the wire into the A pillar trip. I saw pics of people that pulled that cover off without too much difficulty, but I found just tucking the wire was much easier.

I was very nervous about doing anything with the wires in the mirror since they control all the cameras for AP/FSD.

I ended up just running a 12v plug to the receptical in the console with red black wires and fishing that out from the console under the phone charger area. That way I am not messing with any factory wires.

When you say you ran the wire in the console under the phone charger area, did you have to lift or remove the phone charger? How did you get the wire outside of the plug compartment area?
