WA is a big, big, big, big state. We have spent well over 3 weeks here, but it is drawing to a close ...

Esperance is lovely. It's the spot where your plane crosses back over land when flying to Perth

Ninety Mile Straight (longest in Aust), which we negotiate at 72km/h in an attempt to cover the 520km stretch from Balladonia to Eucla in one hit without charging.

I never knew this. The Eyre Highway dops off the escarpment for 200km down to a low flat coastal plain.

And relief from the crosswind that has started to cut down our range!

In the distance before us we see the escarpment morph into the Nullarbor sea cliffs

And up the escarpment to Eucla with 2% to spare!

Richard has anyone organised a dinner for you in Melbourne? If not I will arrange. Near Richmond SC? ETA?
Cool - thanks @electricdave , much appreciated. I'm expecting to get to Richmond SC (which will be the completion point of the anticlockwise lap) in the afternoon of Thursday 29th, so maybe that evening.

I have a thought for the perfect octopus based on your work.

@alpal has offered to shout a round, and @Novatec has offered to help drink it, but that's all at this point.

I will be with my 4th and final roadcrew by then (15yo son) so would need to admit under 18's.

Thanks again - cheers!

Actually @Chuq I am making it look a bit more marginal than it was. That 2% was after doing extra laps of the pass to look for photo ops and there was a roadhouse 60km back with confirmed 15A, so we left our last turn-back point with 20km to go and just over 40 in the tank!

That's a bit less stressful :)

Also I don't think anyone has asked the question... when you get to Melbourne... will you be hopping on the ferry and including Tasmania in your circuit? :)

Will be great to catch up in Melb guys. Thanks for the thought!

Meanwhile the show goes on with a big day on the eastern half of the Nullarbor ...

If you're clever you can probably calculate where this sign is from the distances.

5 photos already! You can only put 10 in a post so it's a good discipline. Will I cut back on whale shots or cliff shots?

There were about 10 whales visible from the Head of the Bight. Worth the $15! The cliff lookouts are free.
