You can see the subject of the email is “Uncorking my Model X 100D.” So I sent him an email. Saying there must be a confusion that I was talking about my Model X. This was his response...

I had previously decided not to post this because I thought it was simply an error. After seeing your post my question is it...? Can the P100D be any quicker?

I personally think it doesn’t need to be. It’s violently quick, it’s physically uncomfortable for me from a standstill, though I love the passing power it has. I would imagine it would wear drive components faster with even more power. I’m hesitant to spend time pursuing this.

Lol. Thank you for the attachments and info. I completely agree the acceleration is already harsh as it is, however I’m wondering if my particular P100 has limits and is not up to par with those which are either uncorked or have the latest DU. Only due to the fact I saw a max kw output of 527kw on my car vs what was listed as 580kw for a DU00 unit on the performance list.

I take it from the response from Tesla...there are some P100’s which can qualify for even more power?

Given this came from a roadside support specialist I am skeptical though he doubled down on it so maybe.

How much power do you pull from your 90D?

I'm not in a great position to test right now... Temps here have dropped below freezing here and I'm usually driving around with two little ones kids in the back.

According to this thread, some folks have seen 370-380 at 94-99% SOC in their refresh S90D.
Refresh 90D Horse Power Specs (Powertools)

If the 90D motors are truly limited to 190kw each, then 380KW may be the end of the road for us. Maybe there's still an uncork left to the amperage limits to enable 380kw in more circumstances vs only at peak SOC.

@DHG How did you initiate contact? Was this through the MyTesla page ? I have never once received a response from the support inquiry on the MyTesla page, perhaps they only answer the Executive Escalations?

I'd really like to get an answer for 2017 Model S 90Ds.

So I did both. Before I sent it through my Tesla I sent it through Service email to [email protected]. Immediately I remembered some of the wonky answers and the long delay in response so I did My Tesla, escalate to executive team for my Model X 100D. I got a response the next day and an appointment the same week. As for the [email protected] they got back to me about a week later with that response. My MX100D had already been uncorked by that time. I responded to the gentleman from Service because he was addressing the wrong car and even though it had been done I decided to just get clarification. I hope this makes sense (hense the second email) I know it’s a little backwards but that just the order of events.

My understanding is that everyone who has received uncorking for a 100D has escalated through My Tesla page.

To address your 90D that is your best bet.

I want to repeat some of my previous statements. The idea behind posting any of this ground breaking, extraordinary information is to show how amazing Tesla is to update and make our cars better months or a year after we bought them and this is just what I see as another instance of Tesla going above and beyond. If Bryan from roadside is right then he’s a pretty cool guy to have told me about my P100D but if it he’s wrong let’s not chrusify him for make a simple mistake though I hope he’s right.

@Navsarin, all the front Drive Units are the same, but the back Drive Units vary based on if they are a RWD/P car or not. For AWD (i.e. 75D, 100D) cars, the new Drive Unit is DU00. For the RWD and P cars (75, P100D), they get a "bigger", more powerful rear Drive Unit, which is labeled "DU01".
The DU00 must also be higher power because I've registered ~430kW max power. Whether this is battery/purely software/drive unit ability I'm not sure, but it sounds like older 100D owners may be able to uncork as well.

I got my 100D uncorked today (manufactured in May). Not sure what they changed and they just told me some settings for more power. The car already had a P1 perf_config before this but I believe all 90D & 100Ds have P1.

Before the service appointment, executive support sent me this when I inquired about uncorking the 100D: "If your service center asks you how you knew that you should be eligible, you can show them this and let them know it's because Engineering said that the "PT_BMS_ISENSORPROTOCOLNUMBER" has to be greater than 3, and yours is a 5 in CarLogs. This upgrade will take about 2 hours at the service center and cannot be done remotely."

I did collect runlogs for Krash about 2 weeks ago and will try to get another few runs later to see if there's any difference.

Just received the news as well.

From my SA:

Manufacture date: 02/17

Reached out via executive escalation to find out if my 90D produced in June of this year could be uncorked and unfortunately, their response was...

"At this time - 100Ds may be receiving an uncorking upgrade. I have reviewed your vehicle though and note that you have a 90 KWH battery. Your battery was not software limited - so you would not be able to upgrade your battery to a 100D and receive the uncorking."

This is a bummer. :( My Feb 11, 2017 S90D is likely in the same boat. Were you able to check the power codes your car is currently set for using the API?

Its weird that the response was talking about battery unlocking rather than power unlocking. I'm not sure if they are the same thing. Can the 90D battery output what the 75D can in therms of power? I would guess it could and some more. Maybe the 90D is too heavy and needs even more power to push it below 4 seconds 0-60.

Does anyone have a 90D with DU00?

Thanks @NarTaX!! Dying to see the before and after!
Similar power velocity. 43kW max power added. Still need a quarter mile to see if the current amperes go up on the S100D uncork, which is likely from the reported increasing passing acceleration increase. Can't see a difference in the 0-60: 3.75s with rollout. 4.00s without.
