AWD delivery thread

I just submitted an Executive Escalation, FWIW. I'm hoping they just need to update their site so that the people who made corrections will show up as having Prepare for Delivery checked and maybe have a new "Delivery Specialist is reviewing your changes" status. It's such an easy fix to make. I'm just hoping that their DB queries are only wrong on this page and that our orders aren't really stuck in limbo.

I seem to be in the identical state (although I don't recall having ever made any changes to contact details or payment information after having initially supplied it.) How does one submit an executive escalation?

If it makes you feel any better, I'm at the same stage after switching from Tesla-arranged financing to cash and indicating a change to my insurance info. I've talked to two separate customer service reps about being stuck in the limbo stage of "A delivery experience specialist is reviewing your changes and will contact you prior to delivery." Both told me not to worry about it, and that it has no bearing on when you get a VIN assigned. I hope that's true, but it does make me a bit nervous that I'll get delayed by it.

I feel like we all need some good news around here. AWD 3's do exist and are being delivered! I took delivery of my AWD (no P) on Tuesday and it's been excellent!! I have very high expectations and was ready to reject delivery if necessary, but thankfully didn't have to. There were a few very minor things, 1 side of the frunk was a mm or 2 below the other side, that was fixed on the spot by the delivery specialist by a few turns of the "standoff" that the frunk rests on. The car was pulling slightly, but after adjusting the tire pressure (they had them all over the map) so all tires are the same (42psi per the door jamb) straight as an arrow now. And thats ... it... I was expecting much worse and am absolutely delighted to not find anything. I keep checking it to ensure I didn't "miss something" and it keeps passing with flying colors. So hold on all, it IS worth it!!

Apparently I'm quite consistent ;) After 16 years the VW is finally moving along, now that the Model 3 is secured to my sister's. But allows for an interesting picture

A bit washed out, but sans aero-rims is much better

VIN 54XXX in case it matters for anyone

Congrats, she's a beaut! I'm waiting on a blue AWD myself (white interior and 19s though), so it's definitely good to see one of these in the wild.

This seems to be common. There is no rhyme or reason for when people will get their VINs or progress further in line - unfortunately. There are too many outliers. A few weeks ago it was reported that thousands of VINs were going to be assigned to AWD orders. I am waiting to see a sudden waive of posts here with AWD folks announcing they got their VIN.

To be fair, based on the data we're seeing from the spreadsheet, *for the most part* it seems like reservation date is the biggest factor. There have been a few that have gone around that, and we don't really know why, but it seems those are more of an outlier.

As for the report that "thousands of Vins were going to be assigned", Tesla registered thousands of AWD Vins. That doesn't mean anything for certain other than they have about 15,000 or so now to produce. They don't have to produce those numbers next or at all.

I expect, however, that we'll see these Vins start popping up next week en masse. I have nothing certain to back that up with, but I'm hopeful!

Just signed up for the forum. I'm scheduled to take delivery of my Model 3 on Monday. :) I reserved at the Fremont factory on the first day, but only ordered the car less than two weeks ago, so I was surprised to receive an email from an "inside delivery advisor" yesterday already. Now everything is moving very fast. Here's my information:

Reservation: 3/31/2016
Order: 8/5/2018
Contacted by "inside delivery advisor" and VIN (64xxx) assigned: 8/16/2018
Delivery scheduled for: 8/20/2018

I have waited so long with the order because I wanted an AWD and also wanted to do a test drive before buying, which I was finally able to do on August 4. I guess the delivery is so fast for me because I live only a few miles from the Fremont factory. The car will be delivered to my home, and according to the advisor they will actually drive the car here (rather than loading it on a truck). Now hoping it doesn't have significant flaws and looks as good as @Lobstahz's (mine is also blue with the Aero wheels). ;)

You suck.

J/K, enjoy your new car.

Now I'm starting to get concerned. My screen updated and I have the Overview graphic today. I only have Order checked. It seems Prepare for Delivery should be checked as well since I provided that information two months ago.

I'm predicting this change will cause even more phone calls from all of those who provided their information months ago. :(

I did have a small correction four weeks ago where I indicated the birthdate needed to be changed from 7/28 to 7/21. Sadly, that very tiny change appears to have left me and many others in limbo. I don't know why they don't allow us to just correct the data ourselves instead of having to wait a month or more (way longer than the initial 48 hours) for a Delivery specialist to change it.

Does anyone who provided their information months ago but have a correction have Prepare for Delivery checked?

Looks like I will be calling and trying the executive escalation today...
Mine has the "prepare for delivery" checkmark. I called yesterday, and after some respectful assertiveness, was told that my order moved to the delivery group. This despite the fact that my webpage does not reflect the change to white interior made 3 weeks ago. I wonder if the "prepare for delivery" phase happens when the orders move to the delivery group. As an aside, I have not been contacted by a Delivery Advisor yet.

I've tried to follow this thread (as well as Reddit, et cetera) to ascertain patterns... but really have no real clue when I ought expect to actually receive my vehicle (having very little confidence in the Sept-Nov estimate on my account page) and remain concerned that something might be amiss w/ my order. A few of the particulars:
  • reservation 4/1/16 online as a non-owner
  • order & deposit on 6/14/18
  • changed to AWD on 6/26/18 when it became available
  • changed to white interior on 7/30/18 when it became available
  • so the current config is: AWD, Obsidian Black Metallic, 19’’ Wheels, White Interior, EAP
  • I live in TX
  • I intend to trade-in and finance
So I gather that: 1) living in TX 2) spec'ing Obsidian Black, White Interior, & 19" Wheels and 3) foisting additional complexity on the transaction by desiring to trade-in (primarily for TX sales tax credit reasons) and finance are all probably working against me. Now, this AM w/ the site revision adding an "overview" section it's indicated that I haven't proceeded through "prepare for delivery" despite having supplied contact and payment information long ago. So a few questions:
  1. Does anybody have anecdotal info suggesting that all's well and I ought just sit tight... or should I add to their call volume to inquire?
  2. If contacting them is advised, what's the most expedient method for getting to someone who might actually know material details (not being a prior owner, the executive escalation method isn't available to me)?
  3. Is it normal that at this stage that I still haven't ever been contacted by a human (either via email or phone)?
Thanks!

1. You aren't alone in where you're at, and almost everyone who calls is told that there is nothing wrong with their order. I've seen one exception posted on this forum where the support rep had no idea why they weren't further in the process and forwarded their info to the sales team, but haven't heard if that resulted in any progress.
2. There's no way to tell if the person you talk to has any real information other than "you don't have a VIN" or "you have a VIN."
3. Yes, you won't get contacted until your vehicle is in production (or some time around then).

I called this morning and the rep actually gave me my VIN...unless they are giving out fake VINs, seems like they know something?
Yes - didn't mean to imply that they didn't know your VIN if you have one. My point was that they seem to have very little information about where you are in the process. If you don't have a VIN then it's not like they can tell you what # you are in line or when you should expect it. They can make guesses based on when you reserved and ordered but it's just that - a guess.

This also throws out all the garbage about the res date NOT mattering, but I’m guessing your location and options had more of a role in things.

Wonder if this is another Elon meeting in the making - he is Uber appreciative of us 3/31 types. Good luck!

For those equally obsessed by any info about when they will get their Model 3 (please enter / update your order here!), and to distract myself from the pounding the stock's taking today, I created a crude menu for the AWD / Performance order tracker so you can find the various summaries, maps and charts that I've occasionally been posting:

If we have been told a VIN by the customer service rep, but have not yet been contacted by an IDA and the VIN isn't on the mytesla website, do you want us inputting that into your sheet?
