Bottom line with Tesla:

1) The wait for the car is horrendous.
2) PRE-delivery communication is awful
3) The car is so amazing, you forget all about 1 and 2 once you have it.

Also, the dates, and even a VIN, mean nothing. They’re kind of markers on the road to delivery. Even a delivery appointment is nothing. I had mine moved 4 times before it was cancelled. I’ve seen people with “6-9 Weeks” get a call to pick up their car tomorrow and people with specific dates just have them delayed for months.

The part where it becomes real is when your a** sits in the driver seat of YOUR new Tesla for the first time.

Wow. My dates just jumped to the worst they’ve been:

Was: 5/27 - 6/15
Now: 6/10 - 6/30

I’m honestly holding zero stock in these dates.

Yes more than half of March orders were fulfilled, back in March and April. Pretty much nothing in May so far.

According to the spreadsheet, the average time from order to delivery is 66 days, or approximately 8 weeks.

The sheet probably never dealt with an event like this before, guessing that average will spike up after this.

They do actually, they don't make cars based on what has been ordered they make cars in batches random colors and configuration, if they make one that matches your order that's when you get a VIN based on where you are and order date.

I reverted back to 6-10 weeks this morning, after seeing June 3-19 after yesterday's outage. Today marks week 6. I've seen this range several times in previous weeks.

Had June 1-21 delivery date, then changed to June 7-27 and it stayed for a few days… now this morning it says 6-9 weeks from order date. Tesla needs to stop playing with my emotions

My SA told me around May 25th for VIN assignment. They have an internal system that tells them based on when we ordered the car, tge approximate date we’re gonna get a VIN. But 2 days later another Tesla rep told me to disregard what I was told because that system is extremely internal and has been off due to all the delays happening.

Yes, but that estimate was based on information from unreliable SAs.
