The future of cars is autopilot, not self-driving, according to Elon Musk

"in a report today from Bloomberg, Musk says that he has been discussing the self-driving car technology with Google, but he has different opinions about implementation. Google’s system relies on expensive LIDAR sensors to help make steering and braking decisions, but Musk contends that using optical cameras is the best way forward."

Those optical cameras better have wipers. My S' backup cam gets splashed in the wet distorting the image and even when dry debris sticks and messes with the image.

all hail Elon Musk the GOAT

I didn't watch this whole vid, but it's a neat look at the Valley during the late '90s internet bubble. DFJ partner Steve Jurvetson, who's VC firm is a major Tesla investor, is interviewed throughout. Roadster owner #3 (or #2 depending how you look at it) Jeff Skoll living in a group house is the 7 minute mark. At the 9:55 mark is Elon getting his Mclaren F1 delivered with then fiancee Justine.

Hehe. Quote from Musk on selling Zip2 for $400 million cash: "It's just a large number of Benjamin Franklins"

Also you can see his passion for cars as he takes delivery of the McLaren F1.
