We noticed the spelling on the 'Door' control screen for the driver's door was 'Diver' on our 100D Model X a couple days ago. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it another clue that the new Roadster will be submersible.........

That normally happens after using the James Bond Easter egg.

so , apparently no cobalt at all needed for the next generation of the batteries.

elon just stated so on twitter. also using only 3% currently

Elon Musk on Twitter
So just when everyone else is ramping up battery production that requires at least 10% cobalt (8:1:1 NMC), Tesla will be recycling their old batteries, and start selling off the cobalt in there for $$$ :D

Someone should explain to Elon that the laws of physics demand the use of cobalt in batteries.

One of these days, the idea that Tesla presents a moving target may begin to sink in.

It's actually absolutely amazing what they manage to do, faults, wild departures from course, niggles and all - considering the resources.

And to back that up with numbers, a comparison:

Building a luxury brand takes time, de Nysschen acknowledged. But he said buyers will see a big difference in five years and vowed “Cadillac will be a powerhouse global luxury brand that will command the respect of its peers.”

If you think about it, humans don't learn from raw data either. We point out things to our children and tell them "car" or "tree", etc, until they learn to identify previously unseen ones based on their features. We don't just abandon them in the wilderness until they learn to understand the modern world with no help at all.

But that's what the drivers do.

I guarantee you we will see at least one article saying exactly that.

Here you go.

Special report: Experts are predicting continuing growth in cobalt demand despite Elon Musk’s comments last week about using less of the metal in his Tesla electric car batteries.

A day after Mr Musk’s comments, battery metal price analyst Benchmark Mineral Intelligence said it expected the use of cobalt in lithium-ion batteries to triple between now and 2026.

[...]

Benchmark predicts Tesla will not be able to further reduce the use of cobalt in its NCA technology.

“There is little room left for Tesla to manoeuvre and further reduce the cobalt in its cells.

“Any new technology that could usurp NCA or NCM is on a 10-year horizon [and] cobalt’s use in lithium-ion batteries is here to stay.”

[...]

Materials technology company Umicore believes cobalt could be tough to replace in batteries, with substitutes possibly leading to reduced performance.

“There isn’t a better element than nickel to increase energy density, and there isn’t a better element than cobalt to make the stuff stable,” says Umicore chief Marc Grynberg.

At least 10 per cent cobalt is needed in batteries for safety and longevity reasons.

Experts are amazing!
