You should look into umbrella liability coverage. I have $1MM of coverage and it is only $500/year. It covers pretty much every kind of personal liability (other than professional liability) so any car I'm in, my house, etc. You have to keep minimum coverages on your cars and house, but those minimums are lower than what you mentioned above. Might save you some money and give you better coverage overall. Anyone with any amount of assets should really have an umbrella policy.

Thanks. GEICO actually required high limits. Ill look into others.
GEICO requires a minimum bodily injury limit of $300,000/$300,000 and a property damage limit of $100,000 on your auto policy to qualify for an umbrella policy.

Who is this thru and for what coverages? IIRC State Farm quoted me at over $1600/yr with my multi car discount.
Anyone using AAA? I am still waiting for their underwriter to approve my insurance (several weeks after I first applied). Apparently they classify it as an exotic. I am starting to get nervous although the customer support folks assure me my car is covered in the interim.
I had them for years and the 60D was going to more than double our rate, which made no sense. They also rated it as a 90D which was odd.
Oh, the car is going to double my rate. But everyone else was within a couple hundred dollars of also doubling my rate, so I sticking with AAA since they have good service. Downside of owning a P Model.
Yeah, its also a California thing. One, our rates are higher anyways, and two enough Teslas are on the roads here that the insurance companies have figured out how much they cost to repair. So My P is going to be about $1500 more a year to insure.

I'm nearing 6 months with my Model S & just received my renewal offer from Progressive. My 6-month premium is decreasing by $4. I have never had a premium decrease before at renewal. I am still paying less to insure my Model S with Progressive than I paid to insure my Focus Electric. I still don't understand how that is possible...

Yikes! I thought mine was expensive! My 100D is slightly more than my 90D. I pay ~$1,100 for 6 months now for full coverage with $500 deductible. I went with progressive and I am younger than you with past tickets...

Something a-foot there. Im 28/single/california/san diego with gieco at $951/6mo... My coverages are pretty damn high too. I'd call and find out wtf is going on there.

Just checked esurance, quoted $1167/6mo and even raised a few of the coverages. Amazing what shopping around equates to.

My 100D is $787 for 6 months through USAA. That's with $100 Comp and $250 Collision deductibles. If your parents or grandparents served in the military you should be eligible for USAA.
