Well I see SR+ VINs being assigned every day but it's only crickets here in the LR RWD room...

YUP!! it's actually quite scary that they will just tell us, 'well, we decided to not make them." Gotta admit this is a very weird feeling. Exciting and anxious all at the same time.

Every day I'm kicking myself in the behind, for i rushed into selling my old car, since I took the word of the Tesla sales guy that i'll be getting my Model 3 in "less than a week". So i sold my old car at a lower book value for i was worried it won't sell. it sold in one day!! dang it! i could have sold it at a higher price, and put more money towards M3. URGH.

I'm curious as to why you did't trade it in towards the Model 3? In some states, you would save money on sales tax.

Tesla gave me the high end of the KBBV for my car.

That's because i'm dumb! My past cars that i traded from conventional dealerships gave me a fraction of the BB value. Was thinking Tesla will do the same, so i didn't even try. Oh well. Inflict more pain why don't you. LOL. Just kidding. :)

I'm waiting on my inventory car, I thought for sure I'd have it in no time since it was only ~600 away. I ordered it on 5/14, and it's been held up. The good news is, I was able to confirm that this care was built in May, so that's nice, now I just need to make sure I can get my hands on a 14-50 adapter since it's out of stock again on the website. I was told they had some in stock at the store, we'll see. I can't wait!

Ordered 6/4/19 and got a vin today. However, its a HW2.5. I will NOT be ordering FSD, should I ask for a new vin or just keep it? My service adviser assures me I can get another rwd in 1-2 weeks. I don't really know what the difference is between HW2.5 and 3, but know a lot of people are making a big deal out of it, so im pretty worried. Thanks

Just called Tesla Fremont. Specialist told me the following:

1. Off menu orders are STILL being fulfilled, however, they do not know when they will stop producing this item (LR RWD). She did say 'off menu' items are 'in the phasing out' stages..
2. In certain cases where Tesla does decide to kill this line, they will reach out to each of us to 'accommodate' getting us into another car, either via upgrading or downgrading to an "On menu" product line.
3. They do not have any visibility to what's being produced currently, OR, when they will start (or have started) producing the RWD batch.
4. They were ordered to 'push out' as many cars by end of June, hence if the RWD does not come, they will 'match' us with another vehicle, as close to our original order as possible. I asked them if they will reduce price of AWD, as a compensation for us not getting what we want, she said 'no comment on that'.
5. If you do decide to place ANOTHER order while waiting for the RWD, and if you fulfill that new order quicker, the first $2500 you put on the previous order is refundable. It CANNOT be transferred to the new vehicle.

She did tell me 'not to worry' yet until June 20th. Of course, it's easy for her to say that.

I'm not getting a good feeling about this actually. Need to re-evaluate my options.

Built in May? This is really good to hear! What's the build config?

To my knowledge HW2.5 vs 3 is just the onboard computer version. HW3 is Tesla's made computer that is built for FSD, so if you aren't ordering it, it should matter. If you end up ordering it later, they'll swap it out for HW3 when the time comes (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Thanks for a lot of good information. I think this a lot of this is a bit expected. I just hope that all of it still comes true. I definitely would like to think they will call each one of us, but we'll see. More reason to wait.

I know I’m a contrarian on this point, but I don’t see how any of us can foresee what the Tesla software development team might decide to do down the road to take advantage of HW3. I think it’s short sighted to assume they will never develop any features to take advantage of it outside of FSD so I can’t imagine why anyone would take an HW2.5 car for the same price as as HW3 car if they are not purchasing FSD.

I'll take an AWD.

This is exciting info.

A lot of it one would assume from Tesla. One thing to keep in mind is their goal is to push out quantity of vehicles. They don't want to backtrack and refund 2500. Based on people getting AWD inventory vehicles in the past for the price of RWD this means there may be exclusive accommodations for us which to me would be awesome. Higher priced vehicle at possibly a similar price.

I also got excited In hearing all the above info. Because I also spoke with someone at Tesla HQ that mentioned the same timeline. She said that 10 days before delivery if I didn't have a match is when we should begin to have an alternative plan or options.

She also said "don't worry, we'll work something out with you as our goal is to get everyone in a car"

I think our patience will benefit us in this situation. Fingers crossed.

I ordered a LR RWD on May 27th. Got a call today saying that they are not producing them anymore and I need to either go to a standard range plus or a LR AWD.

I didn’t believe it so I called the sales department at the Fremont showroom and sure enough, they also said they are not going to be any more LR RWD so I need to change it. They said I will keep my place in line so getting it by July 1st shouldn’t be an issue.

I asked about a discount on a LR AWD and they said they can’t do that.

Pretty disappointed as the standard range plus just doesn’t have the options I want and the LR AWD is just too expensive.

I'm right there with you. This is the reason I went with LR RWD. I NEED the range and can't afford AWD.

HMMM

I just called the 1888 line and was told I can still order off menu in person in a dealership/SC. The advisor said as the configuration was now off menu, it will likely be retired, but couldn't confirm that will definitely happen.

I asked if I could definitely obtain it by end June if ordering now, and she said probably, but they can't guarantee.

Ordered 5/15 and still waiting on VIN. The comments in here are keeping me entertained. As long as Tesla takes care of us and makes up the difference if they miss the tax credit deadline I will be fine. (And if I can still get my preapproved rate) I wonder if Elon will approve that expense though...
