LR RWD Waiting Room

Denver, Colorado: ordered and configured on 5/24 LR RWD White/Black/Aero - still no vin. Got a call yesterday from my rep. who said they have stopped taking LR RWD orders (not sure if this means just for this month or stopping entirely). When I ordered he said 2-4 weeks was likely. Today he reassured me it would be delivered before the end of the month (don't really trust anything reps say as seen by previous comments here).

As a side question, does anyone know when "We are drafting up your contract and will contact you when you can make your final payment" becomes available? Is it once a vin is available? Is signing/completing the contract straightforward? Thanks

I'm not sure what triggers the steps to making your final payment, etc. but it's not when a VIN is assigned. I was assigned a VIN a couple weeks ago (before it disappeared), and it didn't enable final payment or reveal my MVPA in my account.

Unfortunately we have more Tesla sales reps providing conflicting information here on the status of LR RWD production. All we can do here is use common sense to rationalize that Tesla needs as many sales as possible so they will either produce the cars they took these orders for or they will offer an upgrade to AWD at a compelling price. They will not just walk away from existing orders after putting a bonus/commission plan in place for the entire company to hit a sales record and promising the record would be reached to the press and shareholders.

Of course Tesla doesn’t always demonstrate common sense but traditionally they have found a way to deliver every vehicle a customer was ready to buy prior to quarter end. I still believe they will do so this quarter.

Indeed.

When you are in a situation where people order them faster than you can make them, its understandable if you take a step back. Tesla as a company and the cars themselves are designed with many features in mind.

One feature which is not present, and which is not present in any manufacturing business of any size which I can think of, is real time accurate knowledge of production of a specific order.

Someone knows what they are building today, for example, but there is no way anyone knows who is going to get the car rolling off the line at 2:56 p.m. Its high tech, but not that high tech.

Argh. I just got an automated text saying to log into my account and do the credit app. Which I’m on my account multiple times per hour and days. Lol. My account person at my SC said to wait on that until I got a vin cause of the 30 day limit. Gives me a reason to email them now but I’m sure it’s nothing.

So I went through the whole process for a SR+ last month and that status changed after the VIN was assigned. VIN and final payment were updated on my account page as soon as my delivery specialist emailed me the MVPA to give to my lender. I had to cancel the order but they were ready to deliver the car after I made my ACH payment and my lender sent the check over.

Called my adviser to see if they’d give me a discount on AWD LR, she immediately told me that they don’t discount / upgrade people to AWD. So, sadly was shot down.

The trick to getting a discount from Tesla is to not ask for one. It seems like they take it personally when you do. You have to wait until someone in order fulfillment realizes you have an order they can’t fill and they see if they can “convince” you to take something else. That’s when the deal making begins. They only will do if it they think it is their idea.

I actually talked to my original adviser today (guess he didn't leave the company). He mentioned the same thing, they are offically not taking anymore orders for LR RWD. I really should have asked more about that, but they seem to have chose the Q2 cutoff and potentially the point where they'll offically retire the LR RWD.

I will use this tactic if my second delivery attempt this weekend results in another missing car, or if it has HW 2.5 instead of 3.0 in it (Tesla chat today said I have a build date of 5/23/2019, but only HW 2.5, which is a contradiction in itself).

So frustrating this Tesla process :mad:;).

Should I call Tesla and request I have an official "adviser" or specialist? I don't have anyone to correspond with like you guys do, so there is no one to call me up and make these offers for AWD or upgrades.
EDIT: I’d recommend contacting the support chat and ask to be assigned a delivery adviser. They usually will say something like, “I can reach out to have a specialist contact you.” After they contact you, get their information and stay in touch, then they should be the one to follow up with on your order and should be the one giving you an offer if they get orders to do so.

Update on the 19" sport wheels comp issue on my wht on WHT RWD. Contacted sales advisor and sales manager at the Pasadena CA store. Received a call back.

Bottom line is they don't know why the 19 inch sports showed up on my account. There is no note of why it happened and does not show who added it. he also spoke to the regional manager and regional manager does not know of any upgrade for 19 inch wheels.

I expressed my concern that I was too proactive in asking my Sales advisor to switch it back to 18 aeros and by doing so, lost my place in the manufacturing queue. He then assured me that my car would be delivered by the end of the quarter because I made the cut off. I asked him what is the cutoff and he said June 5th and since I had ordered on may 24 I had made the cut off.

He also said he has no insight into manufacturing at the factory. They only get notified after a car is produced in a VIN is assigned. It seems VIN assignment is comolcompl out of their scope.

Their entire customer service tracking system or whatever you call it is completely screwed up when they don't even know why a customer's order was changed without their acknowledgement.

I think at this point all I can really do is to just sit around and hope things work out for the best. I'm not certain that I should even place a parallel order standard range Plus. I think at this point if I receive a long-range rear wheel drive by the end of the month that would be great if not I will just wait till next quarter and order a S+ plus since I've lost the $1875 tax incentive.

Going to the car dealer is pretty shitty too... I bought a Honda 2 months ago and got completely demoralized for a few hours but it ended when I drove off the lot. Tesla while it can be smooth for many, it can also be brutal. I'm not sure Tesla is any better. For certain if the tax deadline wasn't there I think things would be different, but then again I've already been through two orders already and the way Tesla is setup is dysfunctional with no decision making or info to the frontline employees. If Elon had gotten rid of all the stores it would even be worse. Tesla is no amazon. You aren't spending 5 mins to buy a car like Elon says and when Amazon says it'll ship a week from now, they really mean it.

I got matched with a VIN, which I ordered an inventory model on 5/21

The problem I have is, they are trying to sell it to me as new, with 750 miles, and an $800 price adjustment. I don't know if I should just go look at it and figure out it's good as new, or ask for a bigger adjustment.

So far no budging, but I've seen other "demos" with way less miles with way more price adjustment. I am wondering what's up with this car.

Just want to let you know that when they sell me the "new" inventory with 700ish miles, I got $400 adjustment. They said 50 cents per mile flat. That was in May. I think the bigger adjustments were in the 1st quarter and for 2018 cars. I think you have a better deal probably due to the June push. Take the chance or take the car. I struggled a bit and took the car.

There is no other car that I can remember ever buying or thinking of buying where demand outstripped supply and there was a looming deadline.

I guess this is what its like to buy a limited edition Ferrari or something.

They are going to do a run of LR RWD's and when the do, we will probably hear it here first. :)

Look at it this way, they will be fresh off the factory floor, that's for sure. They have found everything in inventory at this point.

Man I wake up every day hoping I'll see all the east cost people posting on here saying they got their VIN and a text from Tesla with mine
