Mirror not folding out completely

My mirror wouldn't fold out on delivery day and they pushed a software update to no avail. They then replaced it on the spot but it leaves me with a question: is the passengers side mirror supposed to tilt up or down when the car is in reverse?? Mine tilts up.

You need to put the car in reverse and then set the mirror where you want it and then push save. It will move to that spot whenever you put in back in reverse.

I got the auto pilot update too and mirror problem seems to be gone for now
The autopilot fixed the fold out on mine as well but... I was already scheduled for a service appointment. My rep folded and unfolded the mirror but put his hand against it to feel the pressure. There was not much pressure as it failed so he immediately marked it for replacement. I'm not sure how much pressure there should be but I can tell you mine offered almost no resistance. Joe this helps someone.

I have a APR 2016 classic 70D. Our passenger side mirror started acting up a couple of months back. Sometimes wouldn't fully extend, but I can't believe it's a firmware issue because it feels a lot looser than the drivers side which has never had an issue.
Not a firmware issue but they hoped to fix it for some through firmware. Seems like there is not a discrete stop switch or sensor but it stops based on resistance. Depending on where mine gives up it can feel really flimsy or solid.

My driver's side mirror stopped opening completely a few weeks after I took delivery of the car. It was also loose. I had the car in for service for another issue last week and they replaced the mirror at the same time. No problems since then.

my 70D was in for service today, mainly for 12V battery replacement, but I also had them check my sideview mirrors which have been sticking intermittently for many months (year-round, not just in cold weather). I was told there's a firmware update that should fix it - the SC downloaded v8.0 (17.6.15) to my car - I was previously on 2.52.22

I'm told that they received some service bulletin early in Feb that said something to do with current limit going to the mirror motors, and that the firmware update supposedly increased the limit. The service tech also dismantled my mirror and checked for any problems or obstructions - found nothing unusual so they recommended I try this version firmware for a while. If problem reoccurs I was told to go back and they'll replace the mirrors

Scheduling another replacement since I don't believe in the Viagra firmware update that is always "coming". I was told the same story when we picked up the car in December - "upgrade is coming". Then it came, mirror still limp. Replacing the mirror assembly helped, but only for less than a month. It seems the new mirror design and/or production quality leaves some things to be desired, and not all problems can be fixed via a software update. :( Maybe on third replacement they will replace it with a beefed up mirror assembly to avoid lemon laws from kicking in.

The fix is to replace the mirror.

Despite what some Tesla techs are saying, everyone I know personally who had this problem had it resolved by replacing the offending mirror. It is not a software issue, or voltage issue, or signal delay issue - it is a defective / sticking motor in the mirror. (including the driver side unit on my own S90D, picked up on 1/21/17). I suggest insisting that the service center order a replacement mirror (I did just that, after first getting the "software update will fix it" story), and viola !!! - no more mirror issue.

Report back in a month or two. Our replacement lasted less than a month (~2K miles) before going limp again. :(
