Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

End of June is not far from now. Tesla needs to prove that Q1 fiasco was because of line shut downs for Highland and then the delays for white interior for Highland. They need a strong showing for their Q2 earnings for their investors. Elon can't do any of his crazy robotaxi, neural implant, robotics stuff he wants to spend investor money on if money isn't coming in. The way i see it: Elon WANTS you to get your M3P by end of June. No doubt about it.
I get that, but if that's his main goal, he will just prioritize states nearest to their factory and then once Q2 is done, then start to reach out to the others. This doesn't fair well for us Midwestern states lol. They are also probably focusing a ton on model Y productions/sales with the 0.99% interest deal.

....Speaking of M3P's quickness, that has me thinking of my past cars which, of the group of us i would say i probably drove one of the slowest for sure. When i was 16 it was a hand me down 1976 Mercedes 240D Diesel that pushed 64hp. That car was DOG slow. It was actually not safe on freeway on ramps cause it just wouldn't get up to speed fast enough and merge safely. I timed the 0-60 at ~21 seconds, no joke. This is probably why they started putting turbos on the Mercedes diesels after that, because they HAD to!
Yes it is really amazing - my first vehicle was an early 80s Ford Escort with a whopping 65hp, and my 0-60 CRUSHES YOU SIR, at about 14 seconds! :p
Talk about throwing your body back against the seat! :p

Technology is an amazing thing. I look at my current Model 3 every day and just shake my head in awe, and the new M3P is another step forward.

Bad news

Bugs will damage it? The misinformation that's out there is insane, lol.

I've had PPF on every car I've owned for the last 10-15 years and only once has the PPF taken any real damage. Also, that nickle sized damage to the PPF saved my entire bumper from being repainted. The PPF out there today is incredibly resilient and in most cases, self-healing.
Just put a deposit for a scheduled stealth PPF shortly after my delivery. First time ppf.

Not sure what your trade is but I’ll share my experience.

Ord 4/23 stealth/black AZ had 5/27-6/9 EDD for weeks.

Trade through Tesla I approved was
Low but convenient for a super clean 2020 M3P, $24,500. That lapsed 5/30 and I anticipated they’d lower so I got a caravana offer of $26k. Was prepared to take it but decided to put it up on auto trader and sold it in two days for $27,500. Still half what I bought it for but thems the breaks.

I though I had everything lined up and would just need a week or two without a car and yesterday they pushed me to 6/12-6/23 so best laid plans of mice and men.
I’m in the same boat as you. Scottsdale delivery center, same config, just ordered two days after you. I had the same EDD as you as well and I also sold my old Model 3 car on FB marketplace. Now my EDD is July - August.

That sucks. What does "prioritizing" mean? You don't get an existing VIN unless someone cancels an order with your specs. Tesla isn't going to single ship a car from the factory to you. I figure you have to wait for the next batch that matches your specs and a full truck/rail car of Teslas headed to Colorado. Hopefully the manufacturing lotto rolls your way.

This reminds me of the whole fiasco with the Bronco roll out. Highly desirable vehicle that Ford managed to FUBAR the manufacturing and distribution with the handicap of coming out of the pandemic supply chain squeeze. And within 2.5 years, Broncos (although overpriced) are sitting on dealer lots with rebates and incentives. Used values coming down to earth. Same thing will eventually happen with the M3P even with its solid value and apparent improvement over the previous version.

Really stupid question but I see so many people referring to their SA (service advisor) and I’m confused about that? All I have is the message thread in my APP that doesn’t respond for days, gives two word answers to complicated questions and makes me wonder if there’s actually a person (I suspect because an AI chatbot would probably be more responsive and timely). So are you all actually communicating with a specific person? Should I be going to a location and talking to an actual human?

I live a mile from a service center, so I just stop by. Not that easy for everyone. It is def a different experience than the app, and driven by the person you run into.

The super awesome SA told me exactly where my car was, I could see it was still on rail at the local delivery location, so I drove over and deployed my drone. The SA didn't know if the train was covered (hail last night). The SA also had a list of damaged cars, mine wasn't on it (yet), they were still inspecting. I had to know if mine was damaged by hail and if the train cars were open or enclosed. Well, you can see the M3s peaking out of their covered storage. So, I'm good!

The crappy SA after I went back following my recon mission later in the day was so frustrated with my questions that he cancelled my delivery appointment the minute I walked out of the door. Total jerk. Heading back tomorrow to see what I can do for myself.

Where my Chicago comrades at? We all waiting to schedule delivery still? EDD updated to 6/1-6/10 yesterday from 6/12-6/21
I'm in the same boat (train). Upthread about a week (it moves fast!) I got the same delivery window w/ my VIN, but no delivery date yet. Starts tomorrow, so hopefully it doesn't slip. It'll be cool seeing M3Ps around town!

Where is this? Where is this headed?

So my perspective here is to go into this knowing the main things to look for to feel comfortable taking delivery and maybe have the checklist at home to do a deeper dive when you get it home so you can address any issues immediately.

Naw, go ahead and pull up to the delivery with a clipboard and these bad boys.
