Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I would think this would be more critical considering a major change in the vehicle (no stalks / steering wheel). Wouldn't most people want to make sure this is not a deal breaker and also to attract more buyers who are curious about the vehicle?
If you just read back, say the last 750 pages in this thread, you’ll get an inkling of what the rest of us think on the issue. 😊

Absolutely no need to wait for PPF. I do mine as soon as I can. We’ve had our S and X done without wait-no problems. How do I know? I had to take off the left front quarter panel after SC scratched it during repeater swap out. Re-did PPF 2 days after body shop repainted it.
Sure. If you're not doing paint correction and just straight up PPF you can go for it. Me personally, I want the paint correction first, and I've seen people do it the first week they got their car try to do clay and wax and essentially hazed the clear coat. Idk. I'm just saying. All paint shops etc say at least 30 days before waxing. I'd go with the same thing for PPF. But if you're that worried from day 1 and not doing paint correction, go for it

This is a serious question, not just a rant.. But coming from a first time Tesla-on-order-wanna-be-buyer: Why is the demand so high from such a POS company?? I'm a successful business owner myself (obviously not on Elon's scale) but if I ran my business even partially like Tesla with just a *sugar* load of hype, empty promises, no PR just-take-my-money, ZERO customer service, maybe we'll give you a car one day?... well, myself and anybody else would have been out of business a long time ago.

How is it that so many people are willing to just throw a hundred dollars at Tesla to place an order and then spend months (or years) anticipating getting something one day when you don't even really know what your actually buying? It seems to me to be an amazing business model that goes against all free market competition rules of success.

Honestly after placing my MS Plaid order a month ago and following this board since, and seeing all of your "stories".. I think I would be more than happy to buy (supposedly?) less of a car for more money from a competitor that had even the slightest inkling of what customer service is. Maybe let my dollar count for some real innovation in the EV market!

I mean this whole June /July / August / September / October online flip-flop delivery estimate (with everybody constantly refreshing the page like it means anything) is just absolute BS.. There are no monkeys working behind the scene, nobody has to take the website offline to update a delivery date or supply a VIN. If there are website updates going on it will simply be temporarily unavailable, available, or maybe errors. Anything else (like constantly flip-flopping dates) is most definitely just intentional *sugar* by Tesla to generate more talk and hype.

So seriously.. why support such a POS company with an order or buying a vehicle? It seems to me that at this point in time and with just a little bit of support, many other competitors are ready to step up and deliver more in the EV market?

My only response to this is, If you have ever owned a Tesla you would know why people put up with the shenanigans. Their cars ARE that good 🤷🏻‍♂️

There seem to be more and more Model S vehicles spotted during the drone flyovers. It was my understanding a VIN is issued prior to vehicle being manufactured. If correct, as no one has posted a VIN this would indicate none of the vehicles seen to date are for customers. Update. Just found this.

With all due respect- the OP was asking about TESLA's Extended Service Agreement. That was not an invitation to get unsolicited vendors offer up their alternative products. Correct me if I'm wrong @Babu_18 , maybe you did find value in the vendor's post.

Whether you choose to report it or not is your prerogative.
Apologies, didn't realize how off topic this was. Off this thread, thanks for the feedback.

That's a derailed logic train. It only indicates that the cars/VINs have not been assigned yet to a specific customer (yet).

... but they aren't [shipping] ... lots of announcements and grand standing ... that's about it ...

I must have been misinformed. I was told the at the time a car was next to be build it was assigned a VIN and the customer was informed of the VIN at the same time. If the attachments are true that would be correct. Seems to indicate they are not assigning VIN like they normally do. If it’s true that is.

Where did you get the attachments?

Nowhere in this post does it mention Model S. I would bet this is a Model 3/Y, as we all know from drone flyovers, there are not 10,000 Model S produced.

They don't assign VINs preproduction anymore. That used to be the case when everything was custom. Now you get one just like you would a M3/MY, once they match you with a vehicle that has the config you ordered.

That text looks very odd too. But who knows. It could be legit.

I have noticed the same M3s sitting in the SLC lot week over week for the last 2 weekends. No customer deliveries. I am waiting on one and they have 6 of my type and colors just sitting. Over software seems like an odd excuse though.

Yeah unless they actually removed the radar component. That would be incredibly stupid though.

Edit: after reading Reddit and posts on here, sounds like the text from Tesla was legit and numerous people are being told the same thing regarding a software update. So it it's likely legit.

Now, why can't they deliver the cars with the old software? Hmm...

Anyway, this seems to be for model 3 and model y.
