Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I did have one minor scare on my trip home from the factory. It was pouring rain here today, and I hit some standing water on I-880 (at ~ 50 mph). The headlights glitched off and back on, alarm bells started ringing, a warning about 'Air Suspension' flashed up on the speedometer (which disappeared so fast I couldn't read it). My heart jumped into my throat since I had my 2 and 4 year old in the back of the car.

I noticed that when all this happened, the car shifted itself into neutral. Luckily, I only had to put it back into drive and we were underway again. I might report this to ownership, just so they have a record of it, but otherwise the car is completely perfect. Best birthday present I ever received.

You should contact service-- this has been resolved (via software)

Another proud Model S owner - ME!
Yesterday I took delivery at my home in Sarasota. Res# P2624, VIN 2291. Green, 85kWh, 19" wheels, non-perf, all options except the kiddie seats. The green looks even better than I remembered. 7 days transport from Fremont to the Tampa Service Center. One day prep, and one more day getting my house in order, and she's here. Due bill: parcel shelf and J1772 adapter. I will get a photo up here later on today. The car was delivered fully charged, showing a 255 mile range, and software version 4.0 installed. My orientation took about 2 hours. Some curious neighbors arrived to admire the car and ask a few questions just 10 minutes after the car was unloaded. Lots to learn. Initial drive was only 5 minutes.
Overall, another very satisfied Tesla customer. Thanks to Elon, George, my DS Whitney, and the thousands of Tesla employees who's hard work make the impossible seem really easy.

One of my first comments "It's like a really cool Sci-Fi movie, and I'm in it.

Congratulations Dave!

Here's a photo of Whitney unloading your beautiful Green Model S.

VIN 2817 is home and juicing up in my garage! We picked it up at the factory this afternoon. After I've driven it for a few days, I'll post some impressions of the car. The quick take away is that when you press the "go" pedal, the car really "goes". :)

A few quick observations:

During the factory tour, our guide mentioned that the manufacturing team was given time off for the 24-26th, which I was glad to hear. So while no assembly was going on while we were there, the tour was still amazing. The scale of operation and how much they have accomplished in such little time is impressive. We also did get to see a few things you can't normally see when the factory is operating because they would normally be off limits. For example, the super charger they use to top off the cars towards the end of final assembly. For those who care about such things there were plenty of 21" wheels in both colors, so no shortage there. He also mentioned that the battery/drive train team is working 3 shifts. So I hope that is a good sign for those waiting on 60 kWh battery packs.

The final interesting note is that my parents were in town so we took them along for the factory pickup. After the tour of the factory and his first ride in my vehicle, my dad flipped from being a major doubter to a believer over the course of an hour. He has never seen the car, and thought it was some kind of super-sized golf cart, and couldn't believe how much I was paying. All he has said since is "this car is the future, all cars will be like this soon...". :)

VIN P01924 is home!! Jared ad Chase from Tesla helped with the first "drop ship" delivery in Portland.

Perf, 21" silver wheels, Sequoia Green, CF trim, black interior, pano roof. Due bill items are the rear seats, CF spoiler, J1772 adapter, and cargo net.
Software update 4.1 is pending installation. :)

Excuse me, I'll be gone for a few hours more... grinning all the while.

Not sure if this is the best thread for this but I didn't feel it was worthy of a new thread.

My delivery is expected on Saturday. I was asked if I wanted a Tesla DS to arrive for a walkthrough (sometime within a few days of delivery) or if I'd be OK with a "virtual" walkthrough. I said virtual was fine, since I already know a lot about the car and thought I could save Tesla some time/money. They put me in touch with some Tesla folks who would be available for any questions about the car, and also sent a link to a 25 minute video walkthrough of the car.

The video is currently private as Tesla just finished it (sent me a password for viewing). It would be great for someone who hasn't lived on this forum for the last three years, but since that doesn't describe me  I didn't get too much new out of it. (Some good video of the touchscreen though).

Anyway, I'm not going to share the password here as I don't have permission--but it looks like Tesla will release it to the public soon.

I'd really like to pass this around to friends, family, and word-of-mouth reservation candidates. I'm definitely looking forward to the public release.
