I guess the question for folks who have had Model S for 5+ years… Have you had any motor issues requiring fixes/replacements? It’s my first EV and am used to expecting maintenance issues after certain miles depending on the make I own but no idea on the EV side.

Yes I’ve had a motor issue on my 2015 D… but not on the drive unit! My seat’s backrest motor is jerky now

I know no one on here exceeds the speed limit in their new Tesla but what has been the "go-to" for anyone who bought a radar detector? I have an Escort 360 (NOT the kind of "escort" that you're talking about @Hayseed_MS) that I was going to use but decided to purchase a second one so I don't have to move one from car to car. But I would only want to hardwire it in and not have cables hanging everywhere. Are there easy-access "hot/ground" wires that anyone knows about?

and this is seriously needed. The stupid sensitive responsive torque demand combined with way better interior noise reduction makes this thing a rail gun to jail. It's a speeding monster.

I picked up on Friday, and brought a cashier's check to the delivery. Didn't "pay" (sign docs or turn over the check) until I was satisfied that all issues were corrected. (Teaxs is probably different due to the "delivery" in CA scenario. )

Hey, can we go back to a question that's been asked one million times already?

Should I PPF my entire car or just the front/rockers? I'm bouncing back and forth on the idea. Actually, if I think hard about it, I think the fact that the front can be done in one day but the whole thing takes three might be the thing that's holding me back (you'd think $2k vs $6k would do it, but no... it's having to wait for my car).

My date still hasn't moved so I think I might actually see my car in a week or so.

I chose full XPEL, due to feedback on rock chipping after just a few miles. I’m biting bullet and picking up Thursday and dropping off Friday for PPF/ceramic/tint. Keeping chastity belt on for a few more days.

Going through the "Tutorials" for taking possession of the car, I'm seeing that the screen seems pretty intuitive but I've heard many others say that many features are either "inoperative" or they can't find them. Can someone with their car give me any quick pointers on what I will "absolutely need" as I drive the car to the tint shop and leave it there for several days? I'm thinking a "mode" to limit how far the car can go. The video/security system on constantly, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Some exciting news! This morning my MSLR ordered on July 23rd had EDD of Sept 6-Sept 16 and now just changed to Aug 22-Aug 25 with a VIN 5YJSA1E53MF435XXX. Although no actual delivery date finalized yet.

that's an odd VIN to be issued. Mine was issued a week ago VIN 5YJSA1E54MF439 you've got a 435.

Well I have a new delivery date on Monday but I have doubts. Wednesday they told me the new bumper would be in on Friday and I could probably take delivery Saturday (today). After not hearing a peep from them I finally decided to call myself. They are about to close for today but said my car was in their detail shop getting hand washed/inspected. They created a new delivery appointment for Monday but the person I spoke with couldn't answer if all my concerns were addressed because the delivery people had already gone. They told me to call before I come on Monday. I guess I should prepare for even more disappointment.

I called it! Disappointment. Got a text this morning saying the bumper came in late and they are putting it on today so I won't be able to take delivery until later tonight (instead of 11am today), which probably won't work for me. On Saturday they told me the bumper was on and the car was in their detail booth getting washed/inspected. This delivery is getting worse and worse. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. It will likely end up being tomorrow before I can get it now, and I have to coordinate with the ppf/tint/coating shop yet AGAIN.

I’ve never had any PPF or ceramic coatings, and I have no idea where to go. It’s time to start my research. I’d also have a hard time turning over my new car to a stranger.

I might have an old bra from my last Firebird, but I’m not sure that it will fit, and it would mess with the parking sensors. Do they make bras for the MS? How about a louvers for the rear hatch? No tint needed!
