What's most obscure to me is the safety score. My plaid is currently sitting at 99. Yesterday I did 741 miles with a perfect 100 score (says 3.9% unsafe following though) it wasn't enough to average up to 100 for the beta. That score included everything in that dust storm.

Even crazier...I met somebody at the hotel I'm at that asked for a ride in the plaid. I obliged even thought I figured it would tank my score. So I took him to a seemingly low traffic road. At first I just punched it...the road was a bit curvy and somehow the car just went where I pointed it. He even asked me after how I kept it steady on that run and all I could say was the car did it. Then we did a plaid launch. The constant pull was enough for him to claim he's ordering one. And the crazy part...my safety score for the day went from 98 to 99 by doing launches.
From what I’ve seen, it’s the deceleration, not acceleration that affects the score. So if you can launch without quickly braking, you should be fine.

If you watch the video you will see that that Porsche driver struggles to get a consistent launch. He had a good launch against the white 19” but for the two races against the red 21” the text in video says clearly that in one spun the tires, and in the second again he says he needs to get a good launch.

So uh, yeah, “other factors” could explain the difference — such as the Porsche launch factors stated clearly in the video. And even in the comments the Porsche driver says “I had a better launch against the white one”.

Meanwhile on a normal asphalt street with stock 19” summers I got a 1.59 60 foot time on Dragy while the fastest 1/8 mile time for October on Dragy (a 19” inch of course) reports a 1.55 60 foot time — presumably on a prepped strip although it doesn’t say. Not giving up much on the unprepped street. The 19” launch just fine on unprepped streets and then are lighter for the rest of the ride.

Another thing to note is the major grip difference between the 19" White Plaid vs. the 21" Red Plaid. The 19" steadily claws its way ahead of the Turbo S really well, but the 21" solidly walks away, and is launching hard enough to beat the Porsche that's traveling 16 mph higher than the Plaid at the end of the race. Sure there could be SOC differences and other factors, but this lines up perfectly with my theory, and shows for sure the difference between the 2 wheels on a non-dragstrip surface.

With about 250 mi on my Plaid I embarked on a cross country road trip. It's PPF wrapped of course with pics of that up thread. So...I ran into a dust storm...It was pretty crazy. I'm most impressed with the tumbleweed avoidance. It was on autopilot and I had glanced down at the map so when I looked up I saw this giant tumbleweed in my path. I wasn't positive about the lane to my right so I grabbed the yoke and swerved left taking it out of AP. It fishtailed ever so slightly then righted itself. I don't take any credit, the car kept me straight. I was going about 75mph and in any other car I think I would have had a very bad day.

The debris at the beginning didn't do any damage I can see and the last part was me leaving the supercharger and watching all the dust blow by.

that dust storm. The cabin/pollen filter must have gotten a workout in that

Nice--my window starts six days after yours, but you've got a significantly earlier order date than me. I'm not going to hold my breath for a VIN anytime soon but the deliveries that have shown up haven't really indicated any discernible pattern so who knows.

In any case, here's hoping that your delivery sticks and that they put my car on the same train as yours...you basically gotta go through Pittsburgh to get from Fremont to Long Island after all!
I hope you get a VIN soon. Wish they would throw in 21"s ifn as a gesture of good faith. LOL Wishful thinking

Which is also interesting...I figured my score would be terrible yesterday because the car didn't recognize a few stop signs in rural Alabama. I kept waiting for AP to pick up the stop sign and slow down and ended up hard braking (like...legitimate hard braking, not the light braking the score normally dings you for) out of AP to stop for them. For some reason it didn't affect my score.

That should affect Tesla's score.

I'm betting demo cars/mules. They've been there too long to be customer cars IMO. We're going on over 4 months now since they've been there, and 7 months since they were first spotted in the main lot.
@2021plaid Didn't someone just yesterday report getting a four month old car delivered? VIN was 430, I believe. Not sure what thread that was reported in, however.

Ok no I didn't see that. Those are like I said though likely 6+ month old cars. That's why I'm doubting they are for customers. Likely originally, but not anymore.

Yea, but that car did not come from the lot. That was actually the second 430 car. I forget the other one. I am sure they will see this post and quote it, as they have done in the past.

* summon user with 430 VIN * < actually works, unlike Tesla summon.

@cwanja It was a "fresh" delivery too, like a day or so that owner took delivery and was asking forum members how unusual it was to get such an "old" car delivered. People responded with comments like, "Well, if it doesn't have any problems, don't worry about it...." So, not sure that person will "show up" in this thread as they received an answer that they probably wanted to hear.

Sorry, was referring to the original, first owner with a 430 VIN. Referred to him / her a few times and they always show up to say "that was me" and state that they have zero issues with their car.

I believe that if your car is on AP, it won’t ding your score. But as another poster said, it should ding Tesla’s. Haha
