Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Question from an impatient future owner. My 85D was ordered 3/21, Confirmed 3/24, Entered the Queue 3/25, In Prouction 4/24 and now today 5/1 it is showing back in the Queue!! It went backwards in the process??? Is this normal, or should I call my Delivery Expert??

We've seen weird stuff like this happen in the last few months. You can ask the Delivery Specialist (DS) and they might have some idea what's going on. But it's just as likely that they are as in the dark as you are.

It's my impression that cars that get pulled from the line for whatever reason tend to do this. There are many reasons this could happen, building a car is a complex process.

But also sometimes the website is just wrong. So I wouldn't freak out too much.

My advice is to go ahead and call the DS and ask what's going on. It may take them as long to get an answer as it takes to get out of the status. But maybe you'll get some answers that will calm any fears that you have.

This happened to another person on this forum. It snapped back to the 'in transit' status fairly quickly. Might be a bug in the system. But me being me, I'd be on the phone to my DS immediately.

Thanks all. I called my DS and he confirmed the car has finished production and is in transit. Whoo Hoo! He said sometimes it reverts to the "In the Queue" status occasionally just to mess with us. I Can't wait!!
That's great news! Sounds like there are some gremlins in the software. I'm sure we can all laugh about it later, but when you're seeing those updates it can feel like a kick in the gut!

Give it a day or so, as this is a common glitch before the car goes to "Production Complete: your Model S is in transit from the Factory." (My 85D spend 18 hours back in the queue before being in transit.) If it doesn't resolve by Monday, then by all means call your DES to preserve your piece of mind, but no need for panic in any case. For me, each step closer to delivery, the more painful the wait gets, even though everything is plodding along at a predictable pace.

Same thing is happening to my P85D. Went into production on April 28th, then yesterday, May 1, status changed to "in queue at factory" Not Cool!!
DS has not returned my call...
Any recent P85D owners who have taken delivery with factory 19" wheels, What brand of tires came on your car & what size?

What kind of shipping time frame did your DS give you? We live fairly close, I'm using the Decatur location though.

He is telling me the week of May 18, but that's more than two weeks out. Trains are slow, but I've seen folks on the east coast with shorter times in transit. I'm hoping for the week of May 11.

Apparently there's only one DS for the entire SE US or something like that. I got that info after mentioning to someone at Tesla HQ that it took at least 48 hours to get an email back from mine.

To be honest, I've been incredibly disappointed at the post-order process. Quite a few unreturned emails and/or unanswered questions. I guess I expected more for a $120k car and a company that's known to be so progressive. Not mad, just had to reset my expectations.

That happened to me too, so it's not just the SE having issues. It was pretty sad that when my DS was out for a day I received more prompt communication from his backup than my normal DS provided in the previous two weeks.

I'm not sure how much to criticize my DS, he's done everything I've asked of him so far, including getting my order changed right before going into production, but the delay and outright ignoring e-mail is something that I feel shouldn't happen for a purchase this size.

I totally agree! Left 2 messages with DS in ATL. Never returned my call. Guess he will be calling in 2 weeks when he wants to get paid! Maybe I'll ignore them for a couple weeks LOL, not. So life is good today. "My Tesla Page" said production complete, in transit. Apr 28th said "entered production", on May 1 it said "in Queue" and that was there for 4 days!
P85D, 831xx. Tesla could really do a much better job after the "CONFIRM' is clicked. We are spending a lot of money. At the Tesla website, there is a 1-800# for delivery so I called it, the fellow that answered it said "I can't answer your question, call your DS"...
Patience..Miles
