The UMC comes with a 14-50 and a 120v plug. They told me that they would loan me a 6-50 until the HPWC could be shipped from Solar City.

Under the charging section of Model S on TM's website, they specify a 14-50. That implies that it comes w/ a 14-50.

I don't think it is a misprint. The instructions for the temporary install say 6-50 in at least 3 places and even show a picture of a 6-50 not a 14-50. The 6-50 is a 3 wire outlet which is what you need for the HPWC thus fitting in nicely with the HPWC install. The 14-50 is 4 wire which would require an extra wire that will not be needed when the HPWC is installed.

I see, that makes sense...so, presumably, when the 6-50 is installed they'll use an appropriate gauge wire for the HPWC so it will just be plug and play for the most part.

Yes, but the question is if they will include the 6-50 plug in *addition* to the 120v, J1772, and 14-50. My understanding is that before this HPWC delay you needed to choose between 14-50 and 6-50 for which free plug you'd get. I would definitely choose 14-50, as they are more common. Hopefully, due to the HPWC delay, you can get both from Tesla for free (or at least the 6-50 on loan). Otherwise, I'll probably have my electrician install a 14-50, and not a 6-50, and figure out how to deal with the extra wire.

Today's the DAY!!!

My Model S is on a truck about 3 hours from my house. Delivery scheduled mid-afternoon! SSL 173, VIN 234 delivering to Memphis, TN on a rainy early October day almost exactly 3 years after my Roadster was delivered on a rainy early October afternoon.

My car came on a carrier that also had cars for Houston, San Antonio and Alabama. the delivery specialist worked with me several hours then caught a plane to meet the same truck at the next delivery point.

And Tennessee:wink:

@Sparrow - thanks for the reasoning behind 6-50. Now that makes sense to me!

Just got off the phone with a delivery experience rep ( I think that's what they're called) at hdq. and asked a lot of questions.
For example, I asked him to explain the production numbering scheme. He said that there are 1000 US sigs that are getting built/delivered first, then the numbering starts over with what they're calling the GP group which includes the "R" reservationists. So, for example I am P#1117. He said that essentially means I'm number 2117 in the build/deliver sequence. They are NOT building the Rs and then starting the count over at 1 again. Also, the build/deliver sequence numbering does not account for any cancellations or deferrals that have or might happen. He said they haven't collapsed the sequence numbers due to any cancels or defers. He told me that I should expect delivery sometime in Nov./Dec. but just can't be more specific at this time. They need to see how the ramp up goes over the next month. However, he did say that ramp up is continuing at a pretty good clip. He thinks they're running somewhere around 100 cars a week right now and are really counting on building at least 1000 cars each month for Nov. and Dec. They really want to have all sigs done by 1st half of Nov. Fingers crossed!!

Wow, that is interesting. I am P4996, and my estimate still said Nov/Dec as of last week. Can it possibly be that we will both see our cars in 2012...maybe even in the same PA shipment? Yours seems feasible according to these numbers, whereas mine is a real long shot, unless there are a vast number of cancellation between 1117 and 4996.

Thanks for that (welcome!) bit about Rs vs Ps, teslasguy. I've always wondered if that was the case, much like SSLs and regular Sigs - they tally up to 1,000 although there are regular Sigs with numbers less than 244 (or however many SSLs there were). So, Rs and lower Ps may get their cars interleaved (based on finalization time, I suppose).

Yes, when it comes to build/deliver, R's and Ps could see the same batching issues that Sigs, and SSLs have seen. We will all be delivered as cars are ready and trucks can be efficiently loaded for the trips. He said that US R/P production is set to begin as soon as US Sigs are all done.

Delivered! Sig 280 VIN 168

Lower P's - I like the sound of that ....

My sequence number is close to yours (P4909) with the same estimate of Nov/Dec, however I am equally skeptical that it will be delivered in 2012. Let's hope we're both wrong...

Congrats on the new arrival, kvietor!

Actually, 2317. Everyone forgets the 200 Canadian Sigs when doing their math.

That implies ramping up to 250 per week.

I will infer that Canadian Sigs will be delivered end of November. Sure hope we get them before the snow flies. I'd like to enjoy the car for a few days before getting it covered in salt...
