Wiki Model S Delivery Update

Finally! I received an email at 5pm today from my delivery specialist: my Sig Red S#187, VIN118 is on the truck and headed this way!

Minor bummer: if I weren't out of town this weekend I'd have it Saturday or Sunday, but I'll just have to wait until Monday, I guess.

In the event, Tesla delivered S187 and put it in my garage today, while I was in Albuquerque. My delivery specialist will drop by after I get home tomorrow (yes, on a Sunday evening) to do the paperwork and walkthrough and give me my temporary registration. How's that for customer service?

On my way past the factory this afternoon, saw one of these (not the actual pic) pulling in/out - a fine ride for some of your S's!

S302 still getting delivered tomorrow in Indiana. I've asked them to get 19" rims and they're going to drive a few blocks in Chicago to pick up the Nokian Rs (they only have the studded version from Nokian). They're going to mount the tires and come by later to install the winter tires for my parents. Their service is great.

Awesome. (Do your kids know it's in the garage?)

Wow, gg - I saw that trailer headed north on I-5 past Portland two days ago. My wife noticed it and said what a fancy rig it was.... I thought to myself "wow, thats probably how Tesla's will be delivered to the stores". !!!! Mine will be on one of those in a few short weeks. :)

I saw it yesterday going South on I-5 north of Medford. Likely the same one!!

Yes she is, and it was actually Jessica that got me the information. Great people at our store!

Now I'm approaching the charger dilemma: I'm wired for 100A/240V for a HPWC (heavy wires in a wall box only). Sounds like the HPWC is not shipping until "mid" October so is it worth having a temporary NMEA 40A receptacle kluged onto my heavy wires?

I don't see why not. How else do you plan to charge at home?
I'm skipping the HPWC altogether, and using the NEMA 14-50 only. I will have to unplug my UMC from the wall and stow it onboard if I plan to leave town, though. Imight think about installing an HPWC somewhere away from home where I will need to charge faster... someday.

An extra UMC is $500. And they do break on occasion (at least there are posts about it in the Roadster threads).

Well, my plan is (was) to use the HPWC that is on my order!

Given that none appear to have been shipped (still waiting UL approval I believe) its a matter of spending some extra cost to kludge a14-50 onto my nice recessed box (pay extra for a temporary box on my box with a socket, large wires temporary attached via smaller wires to the temporary socket). :frown:

You could do that, but it would be wise to temporarily replace the circuit breaker with a 50 amp one while using that receptacle. Otherwise you have a safety issue.

Got the email last night (Saturday at 5:30 pm). Delivery 10/22-11/5.

Performance Black, black interior, carbon fiber, pano roof, 21" performance wheels

I feel guilty knowing that there are so many below me on the list still waiting, but I'm also psyched!

They will soon enough: tomorrow is my youngest son's 21st birthday celebration and I'll surprise him with it when I show up for the party. I'll let him drive it *before* the alcohol starts flowing. :)

I got about an hour in the car this evening after the delivery specialist finished the walkthrough. It's so much fun, supremely quiet and comfortable: a really terrific automobile. One note: I bought it with the all-season Eagles on 19" rims for better tread life compared to the Roadster's sticky-but-short-lived rear tires, but I had a couple of full-throttle launches where the TC kicked in noticeably. I think maybe there's just not quite enough traction available with those tires to fully absorb the available thrust, even though mine's not a Performance model; but the pavement was a little damp from earlier rains so it's hard to say for sure.

Oh dear god, he can't be turning 21. Yikes!

Glad to hear your car is in your hands ... can't wait to see pics.
