Vin #184 delivered today! Spent most of the day giving test drives to friends (all wowed by the looks, display screen, accel and handling). Two asked for direction to the Dania store.

I did notice a few small flaws and a few bugs that I'll report on more fully in a few days, once I've exercised the car for a few more driving hours. Overall, an awesome delivery experience and a VERY awesome car—smooth, beautiful (lots of stares and thumbs up)—a true thoroughbred. I have never been happier with an automotive decision in my life.

BTW, I have an old CCI prototype in the car already (an alpha will be installed in about 10 days), and I have to say that it's working really, really well (no pics, however, until the alpha is available).

As I write this, the car is in my garage charging at 40 amps from my NEMA 14-50 outlet. My EV has landed!

An aside not reported on TM: Was at a light on FL 441 with a Maserati (not sure of the model, maybe a Quattroporte). He smiled and nodded and gunned his engine. I smiled, but didn't gun anything. We ... uh ... decided to see who could get off the line quicker. It was embarrassing ... and not for me. Smoked him. Yes, I know, it's very juvenile, but sooo much fun.

Congratulations! on both accounts....

Too bad you couldn't have captured vid from the rear HD camera showing the Mas falling behind!!
I betcha lots of people would pay $$ for that app! And then set about stocking a trophy collection of taped triumphs.

>9-)

That gave me a vicarious EV grin

That is an excellent idea. If Tesla opens up the interface I'd be tempted to dust off my programming skills just to make it happen :)

I'll buy it...

Step 0: Launch app
Step 1: Start rear camera recording
Step 2: Sense when accelerator pedal is not at 100%
Step 3: Stop recording
Step 4: Upload video to youtube, Facebook and Twitter with hashtag #smokedByTesla

Yow. Right. I had to pull up Forbes' full res original and play with Irfanview a bit to be able to read it. And up close, the sidewalls do look the full 2" height.

The side walls are nominally 4.3" tall. The '45' in the tire size is an aspect ratio of the tire width, '245' which is in mm. So 45% of 245mm is roughly 4.3".

We could ramp up with the youtube videos.

1. Smoke a Volt (heh)
2. Smoke a Dodge Hemi Truck (heh again)
2. Smoke a Mustang
3. Smoke a Vette
4. Smoke a Porsche
5. Smoke a Maserati
6. Smoke a Lamborghini

What an awesome collection of videos that would be. Not so sure that we could get #6 to make it to the screen...you might only get half of the Lamborghini out of that.

Here is the Who have you smoked? thread.

"Smoked" should be repalced with "coiled" or "wound" (as in a wire wound around a motor...)

Who have you wound?

Just got confirmation today that I can fly up and pick up SSL #272 this weekend and drive it back home to Los Angeles. I just made my plane reservations.

DrC: Great news. Looks like your SSL 215 beat my SSL 182 to delivery ! I think I'm being punished for chosing Black instead of Sig Red! Anyway I'm hoping to have mine by the end of my delivery "window" next Friday...or in any case by the next SoCal Greenspeed event.

DrC great news! I heard on Monday (same as you) that my car was in "end of line inspection". I really want to get it this weekend. I'm also picking it up at the factory, but I don't have to fly in to get it. I'll be checking with my delivery specialist first thing tomorrow. What day ae you picking yours up?
