Yup. Each set has a tag with the VIN#. The cars on the line either had a cone on top with the number written on it or a white sheet of paper with the VIN taped to it (depending on where it was on the line). The plant was quite busy. Unfortunately I didn't get a parcel shelf :(

Congrats! I know your guest was looking forward to seeing your S. I expect I'll hear more about it tomorrow. :)

Congrats Dr. C - Great looking car, even though it is RED!!
Update on my SSL #186 - VIN 256: My delivery window (Oct 5-Oct 19) ends today; got a message yesterday that my car was with the logistics team being scheduled for shipment to L.A.; today at noon I got a message from my Delivery Experience Specialist that it had arrived this morning at the L.A. Design Studio..."the team there is going to look it over and once they give the okay then we can schdule delivery". Getting real close. I'm having it delivered to my home...I'm guessing very early next week!
On a side note, my Roadster must have sensed this coming and had a nervous breakdown. Yesterday morning I got in it to go and it was "dead"...no start, no screens, no beeps...nada!...except for headlights and coolant circulation pump. It was hauled off to the L.A. service center last night.

Sig Performance SSL sequence #182, BLACK "everywhere", CF, spoiler, grey wheels, pano roof

Ooo! Careful, there. Sibling rivalry and jealousy is sometimes very dangerous stuff!

Interesting...that might help explain how some P reservations have gotten a VIN. I should have seat # 1077 or so...say hello for me!

Congrats, DrC! Have a great drive back home! Make AO jealous with lots of pics!

I know it's been a painful few weeks for many of you waiting for your Sig cars and also for many of us in low GP worried that we may not see our cars in 2012. But, I forgot all about the angst and was reminded of what I'm in this for after a visit to Tesla Menlo Park today with my wife, 6-year-old son and my parents in tow.

My wife wore that broad Tesla grin all afternoon after test-driving the Silver non-perf there (darn, I've got to share the car with her now ) with my son squealing with delight in the back! The wonderful Tesla folks there - Alex, Dani, Dan - treated us with such bonhomie and were so understanding of all the frustration on these forums that I felt guilty to the core

And, FWIW (and Alex did place that caveat there), when he pulled up our car's production status (using the Salesforce.com app that my wife helped build btw ;)), a single date of 11-20-2012 showed up with no VIN yet. He said that the correct production status is pushed to the front-end CRM systems from time to time and that I shouldn't be reading too much into this...

I got the call this evening (on 10/19), which was both good news and bad news. Good news because they said my Model S is ready for delivery tomorrow (10/20)!!! I am Sig reservation #566, VIN #452 and I live in Berkeley and will take delivery at the factory. The bad news is that I am on a plane at 8:00 am PDT tomorrow morning, won't get back until late Tuesday, and have conflicts on Wednesday and Thursday - Bummer!!! Looks like delivery for me will be on Friday October 26th (need to confirm that with Tesla). However, very glad the wait is over, and it gives me something really great to look forward to when I get back.

FYI - my dleivery window was 10/5 to 10/19, so if I were able to take delivery tomorrow it would have been a delay of 1 day! There is hope!

Awesome news about delivery! Next Friday will be like Christmas in October!

Ah, so the employee misinformation is all your wife's fault! ;) j/k Please tell her to design the program to push all the Canadian dates forward! :p

gg, I know how you feel! I always try to separate my overall frustration with Tesla from any individual, particularly any of the front line people who deal with us, because none of the issues are their fault, and no one wants to get us our cars as quickly as possible as they do! But don't feel too bad -- I think everyone understands our constructive criticism is for the decision makers in the executive ranks, or just venting our frustration in general, not directed at individuals.

Anyway, I got my VIN this morning (no special communication, I just figured I'd ask) -- 542. Not too far off from what I'd expect (~200 SSLs + 300 Sigs). Some of the other VINs seem pretty far off from the reservation number, like Sig 1299 has VIN 6xx and Sig 1010 already got delivery (and a VIN in the 200s).

I also got confirmation that the 4-6 week delay for Sigs relates to the original MVPA, and the hope/expectation is to have all Sigs delivered by mid-November. Of course, when dependent on suppliers delivering their goods on time, these dates unfortunately can't be guaranteed subject to them performing as needed.

Latest delivery update: My car is currently en route and I have an ETA for it's arrival in Tampa next week. I don't want to post the date because the transporter has stops to make between CA and FL, so those of you who have cars pending on a long distance transport please make sure you accept delivery promptly and send that truck driver off on his/her way.

Regarding that photo of my car, I didn't question it but the Tesla folk did see the comments regarding the timing and sent me this message:

I've heard there's a bunch of rumors circulating around TMC on the legitimacy of the picture I sent you, so allow me to set the record straight. Yes, it is definitely a picture of your car and it was taken by my Delivery Territory Manager during a visit to Fremont. Furthermore, the forensic scientists over at TMC are correct in their analysis that it was captured on October 10th far ahead of the actually shipment date. I'll admit that the wording of my email may have been a tad misleading as I was giving you a delivery and including a picture of your car though the picture itself was actually taken when the car was in quality control (aka "burn in") not when it was waiting to get loaded on to the truck.

So kudos to the TMC investigators!

My fingers are crossed that Sparrow's S105 / VIN510 to Atlanta is on that same truck, but I doubt it since AFAIK he hasn't been given the two-week warning yet. All of us Tesla fans in Atlanta are closely watching his delivery status since his will be the first Model S in the area.
